As a lot of you probably already know. SNK is going to be releasing a new Neo Geo handheld. I've been reading articles about it all day, and came across one I thought would be worthy of discussion on here. It is by far the worst one I have read.
At the begining of the article, the person said he went to a thrift store about 15 years ago, and bought a Neo Geo for $1.
"Neo Geo games aren't exactly the most sought-after titles."
You know its very possible he was refering to a Neo Geo Pocket Color, it is an article about a hand held after all. Unless he specifically stated it was an AES I wouldn't be surprised if he meant a NGPC and just got the years mixed up. If he is refering to a NGPC then his statement is very plausible(I've seen original gameboy colors at thrift stores for not much more then that) and the statement about the games being not much sought after would also be true, they aren't very hard to get.

As for the worst, while I do like the PC Engine and TG16, what is going on with the SuperGrafx? To be fair, I have only seen pics of it though.
Its just as bad looking in person, I saw one once a collectors house I met up with on craigslist to buys some games. The SuperGrafx seriously looks like a shitty car engine cover.

I'd like to see some alternate reality WWII type games. Where maybe the war continued into more modern times and maybe the Nazis are still around and we're still fighting them with more modern fictional weapons based on and styled to look like WWII weapons. Kind of like Resistance but without the alien-ish thing going on.
I really wish more games like this would be made, Turning Point Fall of liberty is the only one I know of and have played... it stands as the worst game I've ever played. The burger king games are game of the year material by comparision. TPFL was so bad that when I rented it I took it back and demanded a refund the same day, it was absolutely dreadful and uncontrolable!

Can't imagine that those shoulder buttons are easy to use. R1 and R2 and L1 and L2 are close to each other on the same level. Don't think you can press R2 without pressing R1. To me it also looks like a photoshopped Iphone.
I can think of one way it could work, maybe its intended that the tips of your fingers are used to press the inner shoulder buttons and you use the inside of your fingers to press the ones on the sides. It could work potentially that way depending on the actual size of it.

The Japanese report lists battery capacity at 2200mah, which is probably huge.
It is, thats the same capacity as the upgraded battery I use in my PSP.
I'm definitely going to keep my eyes on this as I'd definitely be interested in this if it plays well.

I think its time shooters shifted to a different time period, I'm very tired of modern military shooters because they all look and feel the same. There is a whole world they could use for insperation but they always take the easy way out and go for the middle east or south east Asia, yawn. For pete sake make an alternate history game or something! Have Canada invade Turkey or France pull a Germany and start major shit with the rest of Europe but please enough with the vague generic terrorists!
I'd personally like to see a return to WW2 shooters, there is so much ground to cover that they could easily break away from the typical call of duty medal of honor fare. Why not make a game where you play a member of the French resistance or cover another aspect of the war thats never been made into a game. I remember reading an article once about a guerilla group in either Czechoslovakia or Poland that built their own armored car in secret and used it to cause serious damage to the Nazi's in their country through out the war, they did so well that they were never caught and their vehicle now rests in a museum. Why not cover their exploits?
Or how about they start making games that cover other wars? There haven't been that many(compared to modern and WW2 shooters) that covered the Vietnam war and I've never heard of one that covered Korea. How about one that deals with the blood bath that was WWI or many other countless wars or sides to wars we never see?

Best: Tough call, there have been a lot of great endings to games. I personally love the endings of the Metal Gear Solid games(especially 4), though I didn't much care for the ending to 2 as I had no idea what the hell they were talking about for a good chunk of it.
Worst: S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat. The game is amazing and a blast to play but the ending is you just leaving on a helicopter and it comes out of no where. I seriously thought I still had a couple more hours at least of gameplay left, but then all of a sudden everyone makes a b line out of their.

Just updated my list, added my recently aquired Neo Geo Pocket Color and all its games, finally got around to listing my PC Engine games, removed sold games, and updated my notes. Still need to take photos, camera is MIA at the momment though so no clue when they will happen.

Not sure could handle more than 2, they keep getting in the way !There is a guy who sits in a bar who does magic and he will stay back most of the time if you have him follow you. Every once in a while he will get in my way and die (and I'll have to reload), but he's not as bad as most other followers like Lydia.
Is he the guy from Riften? I had him as a follower for a while. He was awesome since he stayed back 90% of the time. Downside is he is crazy powerful and would blast people away and send them flying all the time(I called him Goku because of this). It was entertaining at first but he was really spoiling my fun as a stealthy archer thief. I like to creep around and 1 shot people with my bow and take out entire camps without being seen. Half the time though he's go running into the camp blasting them and sending them flying all over the place which made looting their corpses difficult since sometimes they'd go flying over rocks or cliffs and I would have to search for them. So I'm going it solo now, a little annoying not having a pack mule to haul my crap but its a small price to pay for the increase in fun having him gone has given me.

My copy of Rygar for the NES is covered with anarchy symbols, I hate whoever owned it last. -_- I'll post some pics of the fail that it is when I find my missing camera.

I'd tell the seller tough shit. I once sold a lego monorail on ebay that went for a lot less then I was expecting. The last couple I'd seen sell sold for $200-300 in identical condition and completeness. Mine went for $126. I manned up and shipped it out without one complainet, so yeah tough shit to him.

I know nothign about this game you posted but damn I wish I'd found that site when I was looking for T2K and Cannon Fodder for my Jag.

If you don't find one on here I highly recommend you give the guy that runs this site, www.multimods.com, an email. I recently bought a region modded PC Engine Duo-R from him and I could in no way be happier with his service. If your a member of PCengineFX he goes by the user name D-lite.

How about Veigues Tactical Gladiator on the TG-16/PC Engine? When you beat the game...your character ended up dying anyways!
Its possible to beat that game?! I can never get behind the 3rd area, there are so many things that hit you that are seemingly impossible to dodge.

Man..I just had my neo geo pocket stuff up sale a couple months back and sold off Two...One us copy loose and a complete UK copy boxed....sold those off by now for sure...
sorry, but good luck in the hunt!
No worries I remember I had talked to you abou buying a NGPC back then but at the time I was absolutely broke so I in the end decided to pass for the time being.
One will pop up eventually, I only just started looking, I'm a patient man I've happily spent months looking for some stuff before. hahaha -
Gonna give this a go tonight after work I think. Also gonna go back and try and set a score for missile command even if I can't post it since I totally failed and forgot to play it when that round was going.

The thrill of the hunt is part of it for me. I enjoy tracking things down and getting the best deal possible when possible and not resorting to over priced BIN ebay listings. Its very satisfying to find something you have wanted for a long time but for what ever reason haven't bought yet because condition was either terrible or the price was. My Duo-R for example took me months to find at a price and condition I was happy with, after looking in many places and posting listings on forums I eventually came across a fairly low key site through a google search run by a member of PCengineFX who rarely posts on the forums, he not only sold consoles but also offered them at different price levels(boxed, non boxed, modded, unmodded and combos of the above). After about a month of back and for emails I became the proud owner of a boxed(though not CIB, need to track down the paper work) of a PC Engine Duo-R with a region mod.
My next hunt I'm thinking will be for a Neo Geo(likely CD, as infinitely cooler as the AES is the cart prices are terrifying) but I'm gonna give myself some time to enjoy what I have before I start looking in earnest. But its not just the hunt I love, its the social aspect as well, I enjoy posting on forums and discussing the hobby with the great folks on AtariAge and other forums. Its fun to talk to like minded people on here, as outside my little brother and the people that run my local independant retro stores I just don't know anyone else who has a passion for the older stuff. I've talked with my coworkers about it before when they have asked but they were baffled why I'd want to play older games when I own a 360.
Another fun aspect of the social part is finding out through word of mouth about games and sometimes consoles I've never even heard of and discovering a gem. -
The English ones used to be dirt common, but it looks like they've dried up over the years. Bummer.
When I first read about the game thats what the review I read mentioned, it said that you could easily get it for next to nothing on ebay. A quick check after showed that was not the case anymore.

and after all this the guy still had the nerve to leave me a negative feedback, which i promptly got removed by ebay customer service. the ebay lady right away told me its a cut and dry case of feedback extortion when she saw his first message. unfortunately shes says they cant do anything about DSR ratings and he probably gave me the lowest
Oh well, I wish I could confront this guy in person and chew his ass out and put him in his place. Idiots like this guy really fire me up.
just relieved I got his negative feedback removed and hopefully done with this pathetic guy.You know what I'd do? Buy something from him on ebay and neg the shit out of him.
On a serious know though the guy is a total tool for doing that to you. Its not even an expensive item, where it $200 item I could see complaining IF there was a legitimet problem which from looking at your listing is most definitely not the case, you were in the right here 100%. -
Most consoles look nice until you start plugging things into them. Then they invariably become Franken-machines with bits hanging out everywhere...

Microvision, Epoch Game Pocket Computer, Palmtex SuperMicro, all important forerunners of Game Boy.
As for good looking handhelds and an excellent libray of games to boot:
Nokia N-Gage

Until you actually use it as a phone, then you get to explain to people why you are talking into a silver taco.

I'd say its a between the Neo Geo AES and the PC Engine Duo-R. Both are low, sleek and drop dead sexy. The Duo-R gets a slight lead though since the AES looks rediculous once a cart is inserted.

Worst
Easy, the original Nintendo Famicom, its oddly shapped and absolutely garishly colored.

New Xbox (wont play used games?)

Me being one of them. If this is true they are already out 1 sale because I will not buy a console if I can't buy used games. If a game is worth paying full price for you bet your ass I will but I'm not paying full price for the rest of the medicore shovel ware that is released yeah not gonna happen unless I can purchase it used for cheap. The only way I'd likely every buy it would likely be after its been out for many years and has dropped dramatically in price and the games are dirt cheap... but even then I still might not buy because the used market is were I get most of my games
