At the moment, no. The NAND has a KEY that matches the Hardware motherboard. Once they figure how to extract/inject the key we will be able to use any version NAND or even a Custom NAND.

With this KIT you can backup your NAND before every update. This way if for whatever reason you need to go to an older update version you will be able to flash it. Unbricking service is for Flash Card Users (gateway, R4, Acekard, etc.) sometimes the 3DS Flash Cards will for whatever reason brick your 3DS giving you the Blue Screen Of Death. Before you needed a backup of your NAND in order to unbrick but it is no longer needed.

update: unbricking can be done without a backup of the NAND

Get a modchip installed. You will be able to play original imports including PAL games in full screen and color. No need to swap, rip, patch.
