Yeah, didn`t think of a bomberman style game. the old SNES version let you play 5 players i think. But with how few games now use simple yet addictive gameplay, it would be somewhat difficult to maintain a real need for 6 controlers

I actually didn`t play half life through until about... 2001, so that was a good 3 years after it came out, and i was impressed. I think what made half life for me was The Specialists. I never liked counter strike, i always thought it was to unrealistic for the setting. But The Specialists was really amazing. And Poke 646 was pretty awesome too. Science and Industry was the first thing that hooked me though, but not nearly as long as The Specialists. The mods are whats going to make Half Life 2 so worthwhile i think, after i play through singleplayer atleast

Alright, i think i`ll go with a new one, since i can solder pretty well if it comes up. I guess the Thompson drive thing isn`t as big of a deal as i thought. I still haven`t heard of any of my friends console's dying, so i guess i was worried for nothing. Thanks again for the help!!

I haven`t seen anything on the specs yet. I don't think they will be terribly high, cause Valve has always said they want the widest audience to be able to play it without an amazing system.

Thanks for all the responses!! I wouldn`t mind having DVD capability, but it`s not a huge deal. And @ Starscream how exactly is it that 1.6 are a pain? and are the 1.6 the ones that don't have Thompson drives? Thanks again for all the help!!

Before Adrian jumps in about what a great choice i am making, and how i`ll soon be in gaming nirvana, how there will be no more pain and hunger in the world if everyone gets the said console and all, i should say the only reason i`m getting one is to play Halo 2 now, and not have to wait for a possible PC release. I have yet to see something other than Halo 2 that i really want to play, that i can`t play on GameCube or PC. But there is one other side that interests me... which is slightly less legal i guess Now, on with my questions. I haven`t been able to find a clear explanation of which units have the crappy DVD Drives in them, and which ones(if any) won`t let you mod them? And how will i be able to tell which ones are which in a typical retail store like Gamestop or EB? Thanks for all the help!

why 6 wireless controllers? Wouldn`t that be pretty much pointless due to screen size constraints?

if i recall correctly, there was an almost microscopic race of aliens that were about to have the last battle in a long war of theirs with another tiny race, and then due to a rift in time and space Arthur's words come out there, and it just happened to be exactly the same as their biggest insult. so they decided to destroy earth somehow, and just as they were flying along, a dog took a bite of a cheese sandwich and swallowed them in the same bite. I may be mixing the game and the book together, but it was something like that. Duke Nukem rocks!!

Heh, sorry about that, you were right about them being multiplayer, i was thinking of Warhammer which i can only find a few 1 player and a single 1-2 player game, but 40k does have multiplayer mostly

I think this game will stick around for awhile, cause Relic has always been good to their fans. if i'm not mistaken, they did a mod for impossible creatures themselves. Even if there isn't, it's modable enough for other groups of programmers to do some awesome stuff

There is NO way that VU will let Half-Life 2 miss the holiday season, and i doubt this will impede the progress of HL2 going gold either. There would have been no release candidate sent if that were true, and VU isn't going to try to punish Valve by pushing the release date back on a sure fire multi-million selling game. I may have missed something in the article, so what i said may be completely off, but i think i got it right...

Halo was great, and still is, though it too had it`s downsides that were VERY apparent. The maps got stale after awhile, and the brainless flood were very tiring. Bungie said that they didn`t have time to impliment the advanced flood AI the first time around, and that they were going to be smarter in the future.... How long did they have the game in development? and they couldn't finish it?? An AvP game with vehicles would be very awesome. so far both games have been some of the most innovative i've played, i can only imagine what else could be done in the series. I would actually like to see a good Aliens only game, with USCM in their of course. the Yajuta are cool and all though. I think if their was a rainbow six style suppense horror game, it would be fantastic

i think he was talking about the table top games. but for PC games, they have most definetly been only single player until now, and sucked to boot. but Space Hulk was always good. DoW has made me crave a good update to Space Hulk, but where you still move like a crippled slug, none of this general twitch fest FPS games. mmmm.... terminators.... mmmmm.... genestealers..... mmmmm......

ahh, the beta fun i had with my brother and friends. a truly great game, the best thing since Star Craft in my opinion. I Love how it has the feature of being able to reinforce your squads and customize their weapons. I got this the same day i got SW:BattleFront, so all my free time was spent between work and Battlefront, but i know i won`t be dissapointed in the final version. I hope they release a expansion with Dark Eldar and Daemon Hunters, or even the Imperial Guard. But the 4 that are in game all are great and plenty different for me. I would love to play online sometime, but i always get slaughtered unless i play as the Chaos, which i don't like as much as the Eldar

i have the PC version and it is awesome. but, there are some problems that keep it from being truly great. the server browser is kind of difficult to navigate on the PC, and vehicles are very tough to destroy. i don`t have that much of a problem with the vehicles though, but other people do. it forces you to use team work which so many games don't. for instance two rocket launcher troops against a tank will make pretty short work of it, and you have to take cover or else you will get blasted. IGN gave the game a 7.5 for the pc and a 8.5 for Xbox and PS2. they claimed that using a mouse gave you "too much accuracy", which is crap cause thats one of the reasons most people use a mouse instead of a gamepad, it makes no sense to challenge yourself with a bad input device. and it isn`t that accurate anyway, no more than any other game. you can switch between views, i stay in first person while on the ground, and third in a vehicle, and first in a starfighter. if you get the pc version, do yourself a favor and use ajoystick for the aircraft. You will die... a lot... becuase you can't just run out into the open killing everything in your way, you have to take cover, and attack in groups, or else you are the only target for the mass of enemies defending the point you are trying to take. but i would say get it for PC users, cause the small problems will be fixed just like with Battlefield 1942, and it shouldn`t be that long either, and it is very fun as it stands now. Jet packing around as clone trooper while shoot emp blasts from rooftops and battledroids is one of the greatest feelings i've had in recent games. I would say rent it for console gamers, because there could be something that you can't stand that may never get patched. but i doubt anyone will truly hate it, cause it's a good game, and you can kill ewoks.

to 500 mb, i say HA. Not that it isn't big, but come on, on a standard cable connection, you can get that in a couple hours. i wouldn`t say thats to big of deal really. I downloaded the full version of Planetside when they had that trial, can`t remember for how long. but it was around 3 or 4 gigs... AND the first download was corrupt when it finished. it took me about 5 days to finally get it downloaded and installed. and even worse, it sucked, in my opinion at least

I could quote 5 (atleast) times Nintedo reps have said that the DS is a THIRD pillar, and not a replacement system. So, it is not the new GBA, because the have never released a new system when another sales have been going strong.

yeah, i heard the demo is going to be out pretty soon too. the only interest i have in this game is seeing how different cards and cpu's benchmark so i can justify building an athlon 64 3000+ with a Radeon X800 XT PE. Demonic posession of orbital space colonies has never really been my thing. even though it sounds dang scary

7 is pretty easy up until Wily, then it just annoys me cause if you have to quit, you can`t restart at the end of the fortress.. grrr

err, no edit feature. Anyway, apparently you only need to defeat freeze man to unlock it. hope that helps!

i`m pretty sure you just have to get to a certain point in MM7. I think it was when i got to wily's fortress that it was unlocked. i think that is right... i`ll check though

Hey Adrian... wasn`t it you who made the topic about how great it was that Sega was taken over by Sammy, due to their poor integrity as a company?

i was actually very shocked that this topic was not started by Adrian... and then i saw the second post... I really can't believe that a gaming fan would be happy about good companies losing money, even though Nintendo is not on top, they still are putting out some of the most innovative games around. And so did Sega, we should be more sad at these loses that only make the gap between truly great games grow larger. Who wants to see more GTA knock offs? or how about another new stealth game that in no way captures the original fun of MGS? Already it`s apparent that crap games are taking up the bulk of shelf space, so why act like this is such great news? The only game i have played on X-Box for any duration is Halo, and knowing that Bungie would more than likely go down with Microsoft in the event of a collapse, i still want them to stick around so they make more in the Halo series. It's because of the endless amount of topics like this that make me not as active on the boards as i once was. And what is even more annoying is that the news items aren`t being shared because it`s game related, it`s merely to try to prove to someone else who has the better console.
