Medal of Honor: Rising Sun and the new Deus Ex
Invader_dag replied to Chris++'s topic in Modern Console Discussion
I just ordered Deus Ex, the original that is. Can`t wait, i`ve only played the demo a few months ago. DX:IW looks sweet too. I really liked MOH and MOH:U, but after MOH:AA, i haven't been able to go back. And to think i unlocked all the extra missions and all that, just to sell them for so older games. Did anyone else get the melon popper nickname on underground? I don't know how good i was at that game, but for some reason i got about 7 times more head shots than anything else, maybe it was just an aiming trick i was doing without realizing. I've wanted to play MOH:F on gamecube, but haven`t ever got around to it. And since i don`t have a PS2 and don`t remember if it`s coming for any other consoles, i guess i won`t play MOH:RS for awhile either. And if anyone hasn`t played Call of Duty yet, and is a MOH fan, you gotta try it, there are two SP demos out right now. It's really good, very similar to MOH, except you are typically fighting with more squadmates, but you don`t command them or anything. -
Thanks everyone! I have some old 5.25" disks around, not sure though if i have any DDs. The TRS 80 is a COCO, and it works fine, i tired the two games that came with it which are Dungeons of Daggorath and Intersteller Life Line, not sure if those are the names, but thats as much as i can remember. The VIC-20 works great too, it came with a tape drive, and two games, Rat Race and Mars Lander or something like that. Both work. But the C64 is where i`m having problems, the power comes on, but all i get is a black screen with yellow looking dots moving in strange paterns down it in a diagonal line. I`m using the same video cable as i did for the VIC-20, and since it would only fit into the one port, i`m guessing this is the right one. I also have a smaller video connector, same as headphone or ministereo, that is used for the TRS that i tried in the compatible port on the back of the commodore. Since i don't have any documentation on the C64, i don`t know whats what. Again, thanks for all the help!

thanks! i plugged the VIC 20 and TRS into my tv, and both work fine, i`m having a bit of trouble with the commodore, but it think it may be the cable. Also, i was wondering if you can use regular floppies witht the disk drive, as in 5 1/4(i think thats the right size) that you use on a PC. and if so, are there any places that have any BASIC programs written that i could put on one of those floppies?

i just went by a flea market style garage sale thing. They had a bunch of old computers there, some were pretty good, some were over priced. But, i saw under a table, a commodore 64 in box. Not unopened, but still in box, and a floppy drive still in box on top of it. I opened it up, the computer seemed to be in pretty good condition, and had the power supply with it as well. $5 for the computer, $5 for the floppy drive. Then i walked a little further, and saw a TRS 80 sitting under a table, in box as well, with power supply. and then i saw a box with a VIC-20 and a tape drive and some loose things. So i took all four up tot the check out, and the total came to $20. I don`t think that is really all that bad. But i don`t have a monitor for any of them. So my question to everyone is, is the monitor connection the same for all of them, and if i located a monitor, how much would it be? I`m new to vintage computers, all though i`ve used one or two before, so any help would be appreciated. I`m going to plug in the power supplies and see if the LED comes on. Thanks again for any help!

watch yo mouth! X5 is one of the best MM games of late! at least in my opinion. I thought the gameplay was good, and really, you can`t screw up a MM game as long as the gameplay is the same(or close to it) as the previous games. Anyone that's been a fan for awhile is used to getting crappy plots and swiss cheese story lines.

hmm, every version i`ve seen has been mostly Japanese, with a few english words here and there, like always
-
i guess i should say, japanESE only. Since it was never translated to my knowledge. Even though i own 1-6, and 8, i will sure as heck be getting this! and to think, they did the same thing on PS1 in japan a few years ago, but all seperate. good i didn`t import them
-
I just read an anouncement concerning the release of a classic Mega Man collection for GameCube and PS2. It contains MM 1-8, and the two japan only arcade games, The Power Battles, and The Power Fighters. This is very cool in my opinion. Next feburary is the set time of arival

Masters of Teras Kasi is extremely underrated. But my favorite would have to be either the Jedi Knight series, or the X-Wing/TIE Fighter series

The joy that is Mega Man Network Transmission
Invader_dag replied to Invader_dag's topic in Modern Console Discussion
man, i`m having a problem with making my posts clear lately. I was still talking about Network Transmission. yeah, I can see how completely idiotic it sounds now. But, i was meaning FireMan and GutsMan and GravityMan from NT. sorry for that -

after you beat FireMan and GutsMan, it gets much easier. It's really a good game though, as you progress you go back to levels suchs as gravity man's and iceman's. you should give it a shot though, you`ll like it once you get into it -
I got a week rental of the aforementioned(Thank you blockbuster and your new/longer rentals!), and i`m in love. I had my doubts at first, but all the nods to the classic series is making this game really cool, not to mention the great gameplay. But, i got a couple of questions. Seeing as these boards has the one and only MegaManFan himself, i figured this would be the place to ask. Ok, can you completely upgrade all three buster abilities? and second, how do you gain more boss chips? This game is really surprisingly good. It is up there with Zero and X5 as one of the best new(er) MM games. Now if Capcom would only make a new classic series game...

one of the highlights of MM games is the music, so this question is extremely hard for me to answer... I always liked the Zero theme music from X, and the remix from MM Zero. And Zero's theme from MMX3. I also liked Bass' theme from MM7. Storm Eagle's was awesome too, so was Toxic Seahorse. There are just too many

Gamecube Discontinued - Game Over?
Invader_dag replied to NE146's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Isn't more simplistic games what we've been whining about?? this is good news i think, since the market is overcrowded with pointlessly complex boring games -
Oh, i was reffering to XIII which last time i checked was going to be released mid to late october.
-
Another cool demo was just released, it's XIII. There are some glitches in the demo, not major though, and little things they could improve on. But since the have almost 3 months till the release date, i think they can smooth them out. Very offbeat game, virutally anything you find can be a weapon(IE, glass shards, bottles, chairs, and a few more things). It`s a rather small download, 80 mb or so, and it has two singleplayer levels with it

wasn`t Soloman's Key a sequel of sorts to Fire and Ice??
-
I just finished playing through the new TRON 2.0 demo for the third time. All i can say is; wow. The graphics are awesome, gamplay is fantastic, dialog is inventive, weapons are original, and the entire idea being so good. If you already have a demo with the lightcycles being the only single player level, download the new one(Released Aug 6 i think). It has a full single player mission. It is really one of the best demos i have played in awhile, hopefully the full version will live up to my expectations. From the loading of software, defragging, virus scanning, porting and everything you can do in just your inventory, it makes you feel like your are in the computer. Not to mention the enemies(Called ICp's) chit chat, it all brings everything together. Something I thought was a really nice touch was how there are three levels to certain upgrades, Alpha, Beta and Gold, which anyone who knows about computer software knows that this is assigned to different developement levels in software. I reccomend everyone who can to get this demo, to do so as fast as they can, you are missing out on a very good game. Even the Multiplay is original, with no out and out deathmatch availible, but rather competitions that come from the comp world(and was seen in the movie). Anyways, if you have played post your thoughts and everything, but I think this could be one of the best games i have played in awhile
-
I actually don`t like CS anywhere as much as some other HL mods, it is still kind of patchy for being so old and supposedly the best online game of all time. Deathmatch Classic is good, so is Team Fortress Classic, but Science and Industry is awesome. Good concept and plays good too. You should check out Natural Selection 2.0, it`s amazing they cn do all that in a mod.and Public Enemy is also very good, kind of a blade runner like setting. The Wastes is just awesome, all the different weapons, and Akimbo weapons you can weild. And, for a break from the standard realistic mods, Monkey Strike is fun, looks good, and plays good too. Those are my favorite mods right now
-
Battle Network never did it for me. You should deffiantly try out MegaMan Zero, not only one of the harder MM games, but one of the best. And you MUST try MegaMan and Bass, i have the original Super Famicom version, and it is fantastic to say the least. Bass plays more like Zero and X do, with a dash instead of a slide. And he has a machine gun arm cannon. Anyways, those would be my two picks

A good GBA game for a long trip
Invader_dag replied to Invader_dag's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Just got Sonic Advance 2, only one they had at Wal-mart. I`m pretty happy with it though. But this past few days reminded me of how many GBA games i should have been buying all along -
this happened awhile ago, i think maybe a year or so. We have yet to see any joint projects. *hopes for dragon warrior/chrono trigger series* *Realizes how impossible that is, smacks self*

Am I the only one that thinks this console war is boring?? I really don`t like any of the systems, or the way games are going nowadays. I only like the GC due to some of the cool games, but they aren`t nearly as good as a SNES classic

Half-Life 2 blows em all away!
Invader_dag replied to Gregory DG's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Deus Ex 2 is still PC bound, correct?? I never got into Theif for some reason. Mostly cause i hate having two keys for running and walking. But, back on the subject, HL2 is gonna be the sweetest game evar. I got it reserved and i watched the 20 minute E3 trailer. Simply beautiful graphics, awesome physics, and cool story. I`m trying to not look at any more videos or pics or read any preveiws so i can be surprised once i get the game. I can hardly wait, this has over taken BREED, Halo PC, Fire Warrior(Well, almost), Tron 2.0, and Deus Ex 2 as my most anticipated FPS -
A good GBA game for a long trip

It's soooo hard to decide... I have Advance Wars 1 and love it, but my brother always whoops me in it, so i gotta practice for it to be fun on multiplayer. Sonic is still one of my favorite series of all time. Breath of Fire 2 is awesome, i`m glad i got it. And, the Castlevania series, i wish i already had those. I talked to my brother about going half on Advance Wars 2, so i may do that and then get a used copy of Sonic Advance or Castlevania CotM. I would really like to get Megaman & Bass, cause i have the import SFC version and it`s one of my favorite MM games ever. Too many good games around
