  1. As long as my health holds at the time I always try to host a chat. New members are always welcome to join us.
  2. This thread has given me a headache since about 1AM. While I should have posted this last night, Due to the high attention, I just ask that people please be as civil as possible. Thanks.
  3. If you can get a copy of PacManPlus's Space Invaders, it's Bean's fav. You can play 2 person "against" each other and have a setting so that the Invaders don't fire at you. Otherwise she's addicted to the CC2 since her attention span is still fairly short. If you can find someone to make a Dumbo cart for you that would probably be good too. She also likes PMP's Pacman Collection for 7800. At 3 she's already learned the trick of having 2 controllers hooked up but using a one person setting, but if yours might be fooled then that works quite well and gives both of you some good game time together. She's been playing games since about 1 1/2 and by about 2 or so knew who Pac-Man was and woudl say she wanted "video games". Addict, lol. She also loves switching the carts and being a "big helper". Now, if only someone could make a toddler version of a lot of games so that you can't die or have unlimited lives it'd be great!
  4. Why doesn it not surprise me that Homer has something to do with an Atlantis II yet again?
  5. *Many Huggz* (prayers too cause we can use all the help we can get)

  6. Been so very worried about you honey! Please don't disappear again. At least give someone your phone number from here so we can check in on and harass you. *Many Huggz*
  7. I understand your points completely Pingvin.
  8. Perhaps its more of an understanding and appreciation for the difficulty of creating a game from scratch especially with limitied funds and time and many as homebrewers for the first time? Everyone also has their own tastes but since many authors ask for imput from the community, it's not a surprising the community likes what they play. Considering Albert was openly collecting game reviews perhaps you should take up the choices available and your thoughts on their bias with the Admin of the site? And, I'd suggest if you're not happy with others efforts that You do better then and create your perfect game. Actually, most AA Store reviews are written by fanboys who are so happy to have a new game for their system that they always give them a 5, regardless of quality. Climber 5 is a huge example of this. I played C5 after seeing everyone harp about it, and found the game to be hard, uninteresting, and painfully slow. VGC just seems to be better able to accept that a homebrew can be bad than the average AA-er.
  9. Considering they've only been very graciously answering questions asked them and replying when they didn't have to while taking a lot of insults from people and accusations, they could have just said for people to wait till the book comes out and be done with it. I want to thank them for giving a broader point of view including many facts some may not have known regardless of any hero worship and having the bravery to speak not only what appears to be the truth given all the evidence but also an apparently unpopular point of view. That's probably the biggest piece of bullshit I've read in this thread! I can't see anywhere in this (or any other threads) that Marty and/or Curt have plugged their upcoming books in any way, they're simply confronting the same old tired PR bullshit from Nolan that we've seen for years. I thought everyone knew by now that Nolan's reputation in the industry has been built on the constant lies and PR bullshit that he's been spewing for the last 30+ years. I really feel it reeks of disrespect to try and make it out that Curt and/or Marty is trying to use this thread to plug their upcoming books.
  10. It's one thing to grade something fairly and it's another to bomb it totally for not liking something and getting bored. I would be quite upset if I worked hard on a game on my own time, had no fancy funding, and put all of what I could into a game without major profits for myself and have someone then so offhandedly and carelessly dismiss it who unfortunately has a big mouth in the vid gaming review community. We should support our homebrewers, especially when they give us solid well playing titles, and in this case a very talented and caring person as well because in not doing so, it harms our community and dissuades people from continuing to program. It's a game I very much want a copy of, so if anyone finds theirs as distasteful as that critic did I will be very happy to give it a good and much played home and imo it would be their loss and very much our benefit. And no, imo the game does not stink and is not bad in the least bit. I would encourage anyone who thinks so to please go out and do better themselves. And to those who say it must stink for one reviewer to say so, I suggest not being sheep, taking the blinders off and to form opinions for themselves.
  11. *Huggz* thank you and hope you enjoy the game, it's one of my favs!

  12. But you like me and we've been friends for many years and you've got Foxy in your front Pocket, so that must make you smart enough on some level. There's hope for you yet! Fixed.
  13. It takes a while to see fiscal/financial results in a large company as residual policies fade and the new ones are completely followed/enforced. For me though concrete facts take precidence over emotional habits. The products are still the same, your memories with those products still occured and are cherished. It's just we aren't kids chronologically speaking and hero worship, rose titned glasses, or blinders arent in place anymore. We can analyze all facets of a issue etc. It also doesn't mean that we still don't love the games. It's just that particular one mans factual concrete real accomplishments still stand even if as a person it's obviously debatable ie. were just smarter now and we still love our games and can appreciate more aspects of them an dthe history behind them.

    Really?

... And all the ones without end labels are Pac-Man, E.T., Asteroids, Combat etc.
  15. The book isn't even finished or finalized. Thank you to the authors for including us in their creative processes and sharing information. The best example I can think of would be that I wasn't there when my family escaped Eastern Europe during the war but given my heritage and being around these individuals throughout my life I would be fully qualified to write a book about it imo. Historians today also weren't necessarily there during various times in history but with degrees, experience in the field etc are qualified as well. Given Curt's and Wgungfu's personal work experience, imo, that would make them more qualified as they have more access into the industry and through personal first hand experiences saw far more then an average consumer etc. They are doing a massive amt of research, are obviously checking and double checking their content as they are subject to the same laws as the rest of the US in regards to literary pursuits, and they have done us the courtesy of that inclusion, so can we please at least return the favor and wait till it's finished before criticizing, judging, commenting on slant/bias/contents etc? It's a grueling process as any author could attest and factoring in health and emotional components it adds more to that. IMO As longstanding members of this community and longtime contributors to the vid game community in general, personally agree or disagree it doesn't matter, as I fully support them and wish them well. I cannot wait to see the finished product for myself so I can form my own personal opinion based on the facts and knowledge presented in their entirety at that time. Thank you.
  16. Homer, it's acknowledging all the info that exists and not being ignorant to it with a proverbial 'head in the sand'. There are so many extreme examples of negative behavior that could be pointed out and questioned whether or not they should and deserve to be looked upon in respect and adoration but I am not going to list them. If somoene rips a person off for thousands of dollars they either did or didn't do it, there's no playing favorites about it.It's just plain facts and doesn't make them more or less important. What we feel in regards to that information is another thing. In many cases a good question to ask or add is '... at what cost to others?' Life may be about compromises, but there are some things I do stand by and firmly believe in. Words of wisdom I heard somewhere - 'You've got to stand for something, or you'll fall for anything.' And the previously quoted PT Barnum's - 'There's a sucker born every minute'. There's also - 'Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times, shame on both of us' IMO, If someone breaks or goes against things that I believe are core values and principals of mine, that does influence me. Sometimes things can be forgiven and othertimes not. It does not make their actual real factual contributions any less important historically speaking, but it will affect what I think of them as a human/person.
  17. You've always been a familiar face and I've enjoyed them/the polls all the years. Hope not gone for good as you're a great person and the site has definitely benefitted from your presence.
  18. First Homer, oh heck yes new members have been disrespected far worse over the years, in fact many times that I know of. Second, perhaps if this individual stated the intent of the information they posted it would have been more helpful in determining a proper response. It is very difficult to even know what to think when there are so many variables that may or may not exist. When something sells for a mattress full of cash that may have otherwise been considered old or worthless, many people have sudden vague recollections and subsequently go to the site mentioned in whatever news media it was broadcast in. They usually either are looking get 10 minutes of fame perhaps because they are bored or are attention who...seekers, seek to quickly profit from something that may or may not be real, honestly aren't sure and want more info, or rarely genuinely have the game, and also could be interested in the hobby etc. It's always good to get new honest intelligent individuals as members or perhaps those who wish to rekindle an interest they had when younger. It keeps our interests alive and growing especially when it's an older thing that by some standards may be considered antiquated. Unfortunately, it also brings a lot of bored kids with poor grammatical skills, ignorant individuals, people who want to start trouble or want attention (as aforementioned), and other general riff-raff and problems. It's very much a 2 way street imo. Best suggestion for new members is to read and acquaint yourself with the forum guidelines and understand that when people are constantly bombarded with massive amounts of info about the same thing over and over again, it does get very tiring very quickly especially if that particular something is the first thing you post about. It also brings a high level of skepticism from current members when it involves something very rare and costly, also understandably so. It is possible to question and disagree while being respectful but the person posting the info originally has to give something to work with as well. We just all need to be a bit patient, even if we aren't naturally so(like me occasionally, lol) and things will quiet down again until the next big thing. A nice start is to look over the topics being discussed, perhaps post in the introduction forums, ask questions either via thread or PM a moderator if you are unsure, use the search feature to look up things of interest, and to settle in and enjoy all the knowledge and info here on the forums. Welcome to all and please enjoy your stay.
  19. I am glad the book(s) is(will) be covering the emotional component as well because that's not always easy to document on paper/in words but yet can influence so much. My one concern is some sort of backlash legal or otherwise from those diehard individuals who don't want to believe the truth even with the massive amounts of proof from many sources. Thank you also to Curt and Wgunfu for taking their time and going through and sharing so much information here which cannot be the easiest of subjects to discuss at all. It also took a lot for those individuals they located to speak up and bring back many apparent unpleasant memories. We are so very lucky to have them as well as many other very talented individuals as long standing members of this community as they have contributed so much and continue to do so. Thank you.
