But it's Buddies!
If he didn't say "Jaguar Rules" the world would be even more messed up then it is now!
You may not think it can get worse, but believe me, it always can. I should know.
But, with a few positive beliefs, hard work, good friends, enough alcohol lol, and determination, it can get better too. I'm hoping and trying to work toward the "better".
7800 and Dreamcast Rule too!

Jaguar has a GREAT future
"JAGUAR RULES!"Sorry but I dont see how.

Well, listen to him! What a... Better then the average gamer my... well I haven't beaten you at games yet and more importantly neither has bean!
Now I definitely need a jag library so we can practice. What were your favorite games again?
Though you can keep the RPGs.But until then I'm counting on you guys in the UK to put him in his place.
I'm really looking forward to the development of Owl's game as well!
Oh I don't lack ability at all I am alot better than the average gamer hence winning quite a few of the tornaments at JFUK over the years
I am the same about RPG's and Owl's game too!!!

Interesting BigO.
Even hacking something like a genesis controller that has a ton of buttons to have more then one fire button would be awesome to help with button mashing games like one of my very favs - Galaga.
The directional part isn't as much of a prob for me at least and while it wouldn't solve the problem completely it would be easier at least.I still have yet to find a good voice typing program that works on websites as well.
Unfortunately we're all getting older whether we like it or not, lol, just some of us are feeling it sooner then others.

Well, now that we've got a trip down melancholy and morose lane,(however understandable from any one person's point of view especially who has gone through a lot of difficulty because of that particular system) I definitely thing there's a pretty decent Jag base especially in Europe.
I do love shows where more then just one system is present but from the pics I saw from Jagfest that was definitely true. I've made it no secret, lol, that my favourites are the 7800 and Dreamcast though I really would love to learn more of what is availabe for the Jag and look forward to doing so hopefully at an upcoming gathering or show.

Thanks BigO, will check it out.
It's not that I don't know the technique for desoldering, I just get shooting needle like spasms of pain going up my arm and cramps in my hand from either holding down a button repeatedly, or squeezing the stupid bulb thing, even unfortunately playing vid games or typing a lot. It's about unbearable if I have to do 30 or so carts and I don't always have painkillers to take or the time to do it slowly. I found a homeopathinc gel (believe it or not) that helps a lil with arthritis and pain (even in my knee, lower back, neck and shoulders) - Traumeel Gel, but it's expensive and if I continue to work, I'll pay later anyway. It's something I know will get worse over time and I have to live with, just trying to make it as simple and pain free as possible so I can take care of and focus on my daughter.
Unfortunately $100-200 is nowhere near what I can afford atm but it'll be something else to add to the wishlist as it would be nice.
I know there's no miracle answer other then having someone else do it, lol, but new boards aren't always available or affordable and I have a big project coming up.
Thanks so very much for this thread though again and I truly appreciate everyone's advice and opinion.
ps - Yep, Ukrainian.

I got an email saying that my package has been mailed and it should arrive around Wednesday.

Sounds like as he gets the packages shipped, he's sending an email.
Making a donation to Charity Gamers in thanks for this givaway seems an appropriate way of saying thanks for this time of year. Since he's been so nice to do this without even asking for shipping in return, giving the gift of games to hospitals/kids regardless if it's $5, $10, $20, whatever might be nice to pass along that spirit of giving to those who need it.
Just a thought.

Desoldering is the one thing I really have a bad problem with when making carts. My arthritis and that stupid squeeze sucking bulb are not a very good or compatible combo.
I was actually going to post asking for ideas which would work better. If anyone has links to good tools that won't cause me agony every time I use them, I would be eternally thankful.

That wasn't very nice directing it at anyone.
Though I do believe I will have to save that picture for future reference.
And just as a reminder - they are on indefinite moderator preview. So, only posts if/when they are approved by will become visible.
I would guess that we are dealing with a younger person who hasn't quite learned proper "net"tiquite yet. Though, I am sure this is a lesson they are quickly currently learning with 'constructive' help from everyone here. I only request that you guys please try to be patient with us and not be too negative.

Also, for anyone who might feel they need it there is always the ever popular "Ignore" button.

Thank you and have a good one!

Wow you're a really sweet! Thank you so much!
Everyone here always loves and appreciates givaways, lol, and it's always extra fun to see what goodies are available. Holy Cow, To giveaway consoles as well is so amazingly generous!

Oh wow! Is that for the entire duration of the game?! Bean loves "playing" galaga on the 7800 but obviously isn;t that great at avoiding being shot at. Does this cheat work for the home console version as well?
Iggy*SJB' date='Mon Dec 7, 2009 4:34 PM' timestamp='1260225245' post='1892607']Can you detail this cheat? I've never heard of it before.
I'll be honest, I'm not a huge fan of Galaga. I never was. I'm not saying it's a bad game, and I have come to like it more in the past few years than I ever did in my youth. I just had more fun with games like: Gorf, Battlezone, Scramble(one of my alltime favs!), Time Pilot, Berzerk, Super Pac-Man, and a bunch of others.
Actually, I do the cheat on Level 1. It involves letting all the aliens formate without shooting them. Then destroy them all EXCEPT the bottom 2 bees in the far left column. Then you let them fly around for 15 minutes or so, avoiding their shots. Careful, the shots can warp through one side of the screen to the other, so make note of this. Eventually the bees will no longer shoot at you. When they make a pass 3 times or so without shooting, kill them. From now on no enemies will shoot at you.

I'm sorry you are going through this. I'm more of a gearhead so I'll put this from an auto standpoint, lol.
Something to consider is this equasion:
The cost of the exact model you have now *used* - how much money you can get for a dead one if it's worth selling it = Would it be considered totalled if it was a car?/Is the value close to that $100 mark that you would have to pay plus the shipping costs(if appliccable) and the extra $30 for an extended warrenty for a second year?
I hope you understand what I mean. Sorry I didn't word that well but it's been another rough night.

Another few things to consider are:
- Would you feel more secure just selling everything you have and buying a different gaming system so these problems don't repeat themselves another year or so from now?
- Have you tried calling Microsoft and bitching to holy heck a couple times to see if they would charge you as well as finding out if they would swap your dead system for a new one or repair the current one?
- Would it be better to go to a videogame store that offers a warrenty on used consoles which would cover everything else that might go wrong?
Best of luck.

It's good your wife trusts you to do the "right thing" and supports you.
Like people have said, if you've got obviously your wifes support, the savings to to provide for all your kids growing up and not just live paycheck to paycheck, and have savings for emergencies like major home repair and medical, have fun and go for whatever is best for everyone including wife and kids!
It sounds like whatvere will be a lot of fun! You'll have to let us know what you end up doing.

-
Anyone with a spouse who has a massive collection and kids should imo first talk with them about any idea they may have. Emergencies can come up quickly where extra money is a necessity and rental contracts are often very difficult to get out of quickly.
Also stopping buying things for pleasure (as opposed to work) till the current situation is straightened out and saving up a nestegg/umbrella/savings for kids future or such emergencies isn't a bad idea either so that would create more disposable income.
Depending on the kids ages talking with the oldest about having extra money and what they might enjoy isn't bad either since a big decision like that would affect them as well especially if this is long term.
If both of you are working hard at taking care of the family and home it's not fair to them if all the extra money is spent on you imo. Money in any form whether debts or extra can start a lot of ugly arguments.
If you're single, with no outstanding debts and a healthy savings preferably, and only have to answer to yourself then hey, have fun.
Just my 1/2 of .01.

If you can only keep one, imo the original playstation for reasons mentioned.
If possible, keep both since they are different creatures and have different accesories etc.
-
Keep them. If the game is sealed it could rip the shrinkwrap, if just boxed if could ruin the box especially when the stickers are so old. It also adds authenticity imo.
-
If you want all these games updated imo stop sitting around making demands on people and do it yourself. You've posted enough of this already also in my personal opinion.
ps - You are also now on permanent moderator preview and will have your posting privs revoked if it continues.

Yay! You're the best.
I also just got the stupid priority flat rate boxes from USPS *finally*, have the donor carts ready to be dissected and it's definitely taking shape. I am really thrilled!
Only dropped jaws?
Just as an FYI if all the parts arrive in time and I can finish up previous obligations, I may have something up my sleeve that might be holiday related that could very much shock the panties off you.
Possibly look for a thread in the next couple weeks.
Hehe, you'll have parts and there will be a few dropped jaws.

Makes sense to me. *shrug*. His poll, his rules. Can't wait to look at the vids when I get a chance.
I mean really *sheesh* This thread *is* in Classic gaming after all not Modern.
You guys just arn't getting this NO CURRENT GEN MACHINES thing are you?

I didn't read the rest of the thread, so I wasn't aware of any such STUPID rules...

The rules aren't stupid actually they were the whole point of my video so thanks The_Laird for clearing that up........

Glad to see everyone supporting each other with the shows, fests, and get togethers.
I've been to quite a few in the Northeast, both shows and get togethers at people's houses, and have seen the hard work that goes into them.
For whatever reasons things took different turns and went different ways, supporting what continues to be there in whatever format it happens to be in, is key IMO in keeping the spirit of "community" alive as well as the love of gaming and experiencing diferent consoles.
Laird, there's a chance I might be in your neck of the woods next spring for family reasons (april-may something like that since easter is spent in Ohio). If you're having a show then you'd better watch out cause hopefully Bean and I could be in attendance. It sounds like an amazingly fun time especially after seeing photos from the last show!

-
I definitely am looking forward to it whenever and I know all too well how much a=of a challenge real life can be. We're very lucky to have such a talented community of wonderful people.

Have you thought of what kind of shelf setup you want to add to your setups?

Is there still a NA Jagfest?

Ew.
My suggestion to anyone is: if you wish to be a part of some type of gathering or event and aren't happy with what is out for whatever reason be it location or content then host one of your own.
Also, if you don't like the premise or content of a thread or event, then maybe not participating would be more pleasant for all.
Thanks and have a good one!
Meanwhile, I amd many others out there DO support the hard work and dedication that is involved with any show/gathering in whatever way we possible can even if it's not monetary(except for the cost of admission if there is any).
They are a great way to get together with old friends and have fun as well as meet new people while sharing in a hobby everyone enjoys.
