  1. Me an hubbs have different tastes in games but since he's been working two jobs, it's been my task to catalog, list and organize the ever growing collections. I'm also cleaning and testing every game we have.*sigh* I've got 25 (I think) systems to go through (Plus movies). The house has now been taken over by boxes of video games, systems, strategy guides, TV's, DVD's, books, toys, baskets of clothes and well, companion animals. It's driving me more insane! I was never really into gaming before meeting hubbs maybe had 2 GB games(Castlevania and Tetris), 9 PS games and 6-7 Gamegear ones ... Now we have 74 Gamegear, 138 PS, 68 PS2, and tons of GB-40/GBC-14/GBA-25 games. I say if you can't change them, at the very least join them, but even better... beat the size of their old collections (if you can't beat them at playing the games). And at least this way I can pretend to have control over how to set everything up. We aren't really buying many new games right now. But if something comes up at a crazy price we both talk. I usually scan the papers for yard sales if we go, and have a list of stuff we need for the house. So even if we don't find vid games hopefully there will be something else. When he's playing games I usually am either reading a book by him or cooking. I would invite you guys for dinner but there's a 75gal tank on the dining room table temporarily. Didn't have a stand big enough for it and we never have formal dinners anyway. I'm also going to be putting an indoor pond on the ground floor eventually too. *my wish* I can't wait till the house is back in a semblance of order! *Hopefully* the other house will be sold by May/June then we can settle down and in for the long run.
  2. If we would be able to make it we'd want a table - any ideas on costs for those yet? And also since PC will now be part of a bigger expo - will it be more crowded especially with loading and unloading w/ big vendors competing for drivable space ? - and how much space will be allowed for PC ? (just worried about being a "litle guy"/ just someone who wants to get rid of extra stuff at a show full of larger fancy companies) Thanks for helping us with questions or concerns we may have.
  3. On the Atari version of paperboy after a perfect run you are supposed to get a new customer as far as I know. Only way I've even come close to winning is to hold onto the customers I have. There is a code for infinite customers for GBC at least  I just don't know if it would work in an actual arcade. It's supposed to be A, B, A, B, B, B, A. For N64 there are a ton of codes I found at gamespot.com but I don't know how reliable that site is. There are also these sites I found while googling called supercheats.com, rottentomatoes.com, and spynets.com - but again I haven't really tried them out. I've made it till Fri. or Sat. on average but get tired of it after a bit. I know we have it for just about all the systems we can but I still haven't found Paperboy 2 for a cheap price... grrr.
  4. Is it just going to be Philly Classic at the center or will there be another convention at the same time?
  5. eB staff at least around here are required to wear a "shirt w/ a collar" for men as well as dress slacks. I don't know what standards they have for women though. I also LOVE our local EB. Lots of great finds there. Around here it's 2 Gamestops that I loathe. The one employee saw me an hubbs and said "What are you doing here? I figured we wouldn't see you anymore after we got rid of classic systems." Nice guy. *minor sarcasm* The other problem is that another local Game Stop hires punk ass kids and *all* their friends hang out there. That place is horrible! Once you get past the kids skateboarding all over the curbs - usually two or three at least. You then have to make it past the haze of under age kids smoking. Finally when you get to the doorway and think you are safe, you're greeted by what appears to be a gang of 14-16 yr olds cursing and rough housing at the demo kiosks. And upon making a complaint to a manager I was told that there are other GameStops in the area. As if we'd go back to that one on a regular basis. Now, the one Game Stop near Cleveland, Ohio we always go to. One of my favorite places where we haven't been disappointed *yet*. The guys are great to sit around and BS games with, the one guy collects Vetrex, lol. They also get pretty rare games and imports every now and then and were willing to let me "borrow" one of their own personal PSP's to play with for at least a half hour. Needless to say we bought a lot there. It was buy 2 games get 1 free so we got among other deals PS2 - Street Fighter Anniversary Collection, King of Fighters 00/01, plus Mega Man Anniversary collection for only 46$ total after tax. They dug around till they found the best copies used but complete and one person lent me their discount card for that 10% off on top of it! To me it was a really sweet deal at least. Found a Konami GB collection Volume 1 for GB color. I don't *think* that was a US release but now I want the other 3 volumes, lol. Also picked up a color digi-cam for my GBA SP to go along w/ the MP3 Player we got for practically nada, just for the fun of it. *giggle* I luv bargain hunting and having a bonus of finding new toys. Would have bought so much more just ran out of funds, lol. But they know that as long as there are great employees working there we WILL be back!
  6. November weather around here can swing like a pendulum. It could be in the 50s, sunny and beautiful or cold, raining/sleeting and nasty. This gets worse through maybe October till December when snow sometimes decides to mix in. Now Upper Ohio is worse as well as more northern states. We've been pretty lucky IMO last few years and winter has started fairly late. I think Mother Nature flips a coin to decide.
  7. I can't promise anything but I'll talk to hubby and see if we can take a short trip in the coming weeks to scout out the area and get info on hotels. We'll also try to take pics of the area. There are a lot of peopel on AA that are like "extended" family and I miss seeing you guys from last yr. *sniffle* I like hugs. I would also recommend anyone who has AAA service, is disabled or is military to check w/ hotels to see about discounts.
  8. The sportsman show? Yep I am gonna be a pessimist on this one.- I refused to go to any event there last year after the fiasco at the pet expo so it's been 2 yrs since I've seen the place. FW is huge but it's always seemed poorly organized. It's just harder to find a hotel and it was a nice luxury I am sure to be able to go downstairs to a venue for those staying at VF. Lighting seemed so much brighter at VF. Parking is a pain at FW IMO with all the levels in the back and the pavement was falling apart. I just never liked it and had bad experiences w/ people there. I wouldn't pay to go to a show there no matter how cheap. If there was more then 1 con (usually was) it really became a mad house. I would also worry that vendor costs will be going up esp. w/ free admission and added media coverage. We wanted to get a table to sell our extra stuff especially with moving and all. But I saw someone mention something about having to charge sales tax in a diff thread? Maybe they have fixed it up. I really do hope you guys have a great show! It's going to be a bummer with the possibility of not seeing everyone but it's that time of year and besides the birthdays of me hubby and dad it's also our wedding anniversary.
  9. Damn, I don't think we are going to be able to make it. It's in between my father's and my birthday(day after) and we'll probably be out of state unless something happens to my grandfather. As a side note I can't stand the Fort Washington Expo center. Been there for a lot of shows and involved with the annual pet expo. It never seemed as brightly lit or as clean as Valley Forge even though VF was smaller and FW always seemed to be really tight on space. *sigh* Maybe we'll see you guys next year.
  10. Actually this is the main reason why I didn't purchase one. I need my "classic" GB games fix. That and cost. Cost is the main reason why I wouldn't buy a PSP. But when I played lumines (awesome puzzle game) the game seemed to lag as I was playing and when I cleared multiple square it was annoying cause I couldn't see what was left to place the next one. Tetris spoiled me. So while I don't have both systems - I have neither. And I don't intend to buy either system for a long while. Although after playing both for an extended time I would lean more towards the PSP. With the whole Blu-Ray vs HD DVD war that will ensue it's almost tempting to switch media types all together and get the lil guys for this system. We do already have a portable DVD player. (thank you black friday specials!)but even with a carrying bag it still is a pain with a lot of luggage. But I am crossing my fingers and waiting to see what the next Nintendo hand held will be like before I make that decision. I haven't seen any specs for it yet but I have heard that it will be more of a successor to the SP then the DS is. If thats the case though, where does the DS fit into the time line or as what? Time will tell.
  11. VF Animation is basically a fighting game either in a "story" mode or Vs. The computer. In story more you play one charecter and in vs. you can choose. Fun lil game but I am ust not particularly fond of the controls since it's only either the 1 or 2 button and Start button..
  12. The EB I know of got games in since many were pre ordered and they had to be sorted. There are 20 titles (about) that will be available at launch. The demo units are supposed to be coming to the store after the "official" launch date.
  13. We have colored see through ones in Red, Black/Smoke colored, Blue and Green with matching VMU's. I know there was also a yellow one as well. We also have 2 Dreamcast brand "millenium controllers" in blue and green. I know there is a pink Hello Kitty(oddly I really want it) controller/system and light blue as well but they were Japan releases. I had a great site I used to go to that had lists of all dreamcasts and accesories. If I find it I'll post it.
  14. So you don't see it as a waste of money to buy something you'll never use???? You all will spend hundreds to thousands of dollars on old games that will eventually rot in their cases, because everything's got a shelf life, probably most never get played or get very little play time, but you'll bad mouth this little accessory because it costs money???? You read like a bunch of old men sitting around a chess table bitching about "them damn kids!" Or is it just because you don't like it? "I don't think its a good idea, so its a bad idea." Nice logic train you all are riding on. Most of you don't play on Live anyway so why do you really give a shit? Oh wait, it's a perfect oppurtunity for you to have an opinion and let everyone know what your opinion is on something you've never used and will never use. Hey look ma, I can post on the Internet!!! I've actually looked at getting an XBox - we do even haev a few games around for the system. The games were free by the way so I didn't waste my money. I still believe XBox is alienating many people who may like to one day try on line gaming or are considering the system. Just because I don't play on-line games now doesn't mean that I won't in the future and honsetly all these add on costs are deterring me quite a bit. Granted the systems we play on may be "dead" but besides the cost of carts and systems themselves which are fairly inexpensive there aren't more and more fees or costs tacked on once they are bought and paid for - except the electric bill. It's more of an incentive to purchase those IMO. Every system will have it's "fanboys" regardless, but I believe it's also an influx of "new blood" that helps keep a system alive and the company supporting it.
  15. That's another few sections from the same article. For people who don't have a lot of money or indulgent parents it's gonna suck for on-line public game players. I think it will alienate a lot of video gamers who don't play on-line as well. Since I am included in the non on-line group, I don't have to worry. If I want on line games I'll use Pogo or Yahoo games and they are free. Our PS2 plays more DVDs then Video games anyway, lol.
  16. CCE carts are pirate carts. Polyvox carts were licensed AFAIK. Technically, I'd consider it a pirate albeit one I'd want a common friend of ours to put on a cart for me. I was also curious as far as raity goes for them - how can you tell? We have a Mr.Postman,Superman, Fortress Defense and Pizza chef that are CCE and a Space Tunnel thats Polyvox. And as for the other I agree totally with you - especially with the amazing quality they can make me a cart anytime at all *double grin*
  17. We have a few Brazilian games from CCE and Polyvox. I *think* they are considered "pirate carts". I'd like more of them it's neat to have a lil variety, but I wasn't sure where they fit in. Also if a game was not released in one format or another and someone converts it what is it considered? Me and hubby were having a conversation about the differences in types of carts as well and am curious as to what everyone thinks.
  18. I am sure there will be some type of press release or ad campaign so we will find out then. And if it's already listed and Atari wants this to be their "big product" I am sure they will create as much hype as possible.
  19. You know thinking about it as a post script making a set of ornament sized ones if it's possible would be awesome! This way for people like me who love sparkly things could hang them in more rooms of the house or even match them to a color scheme in a certain area. Especially around the holidays I bet they'd sell quite well, even if I would buy them all before anyone else could.
  20. Thanks to a very wonderful opportunity that was presented I was able to hold one of her masterpieces and the detail is really amazing!!! The colors of the glass is exquisite and I can honestly say that the golden color looks like citrine, the smokey color looks like faceted quartz and the clear like white topaz. I have 2 "scratch off" lottery tickets and if one wins enough yer darn right I'm buying one! I just wish my bills could last just one more week *grin* cause the "suncatchers" are definitely a treasure. To anyone who may have the $ and might be 'shy' because of the price, please don't hesitate - as skillfully as they were created from glass from the 60's I can honestly say that if properly cared for I don't see why they couldn't last 50 yrs or more themselves. They definitely will add some sparkle to yr. home even on those cloudy days!
  21. "Animals" and "Wish You Were Here" I hope. Although "Meddle" would do nicely -- tripping out to "Echoes" one New Years Eve whilst loaded brings back some misty-eyed memories... I'm sorry but I still love Dark Side of the Moon. And yes I had to find a syncronised Wizard of Oz just because. So is now when we break out and say ... "I remember back in the day..." and "They sure don't make music like that anymore." Zeppelin, Floyd, Black Sabbath, toss in some AC/DC, Blue Oyster Cult... good schtuff indeed. *sigh*
  22. I am sorry but I had ta do this - so is it a Genesis inside then? On a more serious level it sounds like quite a few people had their hand in this one and especially with a few of the comments posted I am very curious indeed! And also not to get my hopes up but this sounds like something that may become a "must buy" at some point. I almost can't wait to find out!
  23. Among other things he got me NHL98 for a very special gift for hubby and I don't think it's left the Nomad since he got it. Jason seems like a really good person and hopefully he'll attend PC6 and bring lots of goodies! I just wish we lived closer to the area I would love to check out his store.
  24. Oooh, those Items are a really nice blend of colors and designs. I love the throw pillows and once our game room is set up they will match the dark green sectional sofa quite well I think. I am also not one for "abstract" or "modern" art usually but there is something almost "soothing" about the darker colors in the pillow and the fact that it has a zip cover and comes w/ pillow is very cool! The huge poster is crazy with color but again there's something about it that I just really like. Probably the fact that Purples, greens and blues are my favorite colors. I will say though that if I saw those in just any store and didn't know anything about where the designs came from I at least would still find them appealing. So I would say that having a marketability factor like that is a bonus. Now add the fact that it's video game related and heck it makes it even better yet.
