  1. Can't a reply be left after someone leaves a negative? Granted it's a total BS negative though. I agree with most people the buyer should have known better and probably only wanted a cheaper deal or some kind of discount.
  2. Wow, sold a bunch but still some good ones left. Feel free to PM offers.
  3. We've actually heard a lot of the same comments from yard sales we've been to. How Even NES is "retro" and its selling for a lot of money on Ebay. If you mention Atari at quite a few yard sales around here you'll get a pre-doctorate dissertation on the rarity and value of the above mentioned items. That's when I smile sweetly and say something like "I could care less how collectible and valuable the games are, we play them them like they are supposed to be" or if I am feeling more spiteful I usually include how "our 9 yr old" (boy we sit - Kenny) finds them very valuable to - to play the heck out of them". And then offer them 1$ for that "super rare" game they listed for 5$, which they ususally will take anyhow. Around here is really 'snot-ville' when it comes to yard sales, flea markets or thrift stores anymore. It's cheaper to buy new at Wal-mart then it is at most thrifts especially when it comes to clothes. Locally the Walmarts are almost always having 3-5$ clearance sales on ladies clothes. And you'd be lucky to find a pair of jeans for under 8$ at 3 "thrift stores" that I know of and they usually are really beat up too. Why would I pay 10$ for an old maybe chipped used set of (non-rare)dishes when I can but a brand new set for around the same price. It's really darn sad anymore and depressing. *sigh*
  4. Re: Walmart... If you look in the clearance section (at least around us) you can find the 2 player paddle controllers w/ 13 built in games marked for 25$. The games are - super breakout, casino, warlords, demons to diamonds, circus atari, breakout, pong, night driver, arcade warlords, street racer, steeple chase, video olympics and canyon bomber. At one Walmart we price checked them and they came up 17$ but at the one closest to our house they rang up for 10$. Needless to say we picked up a set for 10$. They also had the 1 player 1 paddle versions which rang up at 8.75 and 11$ respectively. They also had just one plug and play 5 in 1 space invaders controller for either right or left handed people. It included sapce invaders, phoenix, lunar rescue, qix and colony 7. That one was unmarked but rang up for only 5$. I was told that Walmart clearance as well as some regular prices depend on the store management and depending on supply and demand they can pretty much do what they want. It is irritating in such a large chain to think that you don't even know if the store 15 minutes away will have stuff at the same price. Very glad we kept looking.
  5. We've got 4 Long boxed PS games. Tekken is in a plastic Sega like case, while NHL Face Off & NFL Game Day are in cardboard ones and Resident Evil is in an all plasic case with textured/ribbed plastic along the spine and cardboard type labeling.
  6. Now that I can finally see a corner of my living room floor again, I realized I missed a few titles at least. - RPG Maker II (PS2) - $2 - Hot Shots Golf Fore (PS2) - $2 - ShellShock (PS2,XBox) - $2 - Psi-Ops (PS2,XBox) - $2 TYVM !
  7. I meant a real chess board. But then if I wanted to play chess w/ hubby we'd both have to buy the system and the game.Unless all our friends bought the system and games anyway, for 10 of those games the actual tangible boards/games would cost 5 or 10$ each at most and it would still be a hell of a lot cheaper then 1 DS.
  8. Some things have a lot of great potential and/or a unique concept. It is interesting what owners of the DS have to say especially since they've probably been playing it like crazy since it came out. The brain and card games sound neat but at least for me they are more fun if actually played with other people in a group. I've heard from a number of people that Mr. Driller is very good, but I am quite happy w/ my SP. I couldn't spend all that money just to play a few games on a system.
  9. The high school I transferred to in sophomore year had a mandatory computer/typing class in freshman year. Also I know 2 of the local grade schools have at leats 1 class a week for computers/typing. Me, I'm not a very good typist but I also don't care enough to become one.
  10. LOL, thank's for the good laugh! - The "I found something so amazingly rare and how much is it worth" modern game thread (similar thread should be in classic gaming) - "Big corporations bying out another small company and ruining the game industry" thread - The "Dreamcast was the last good modern console" thread - The "Screw you guys... everything sucks, all new consoles suck, the game industry sucks, why can't it be like back in the day" thread - The "I am going to put this system in the modern gaming forum even if it doesn't belong anyway" thread (similar variation for classic gaming as well) - "This is the coolest and best new game to ever come out and you have to buy it" thread -"Why PC games are better then any console game, and all consoles are trying to be like a PC" thread I have no doubt there could be so many more added as well...
  11. Where's the AA marketplace figure in to the mix?

  13. I pretty much agree with Tim. As far as the wireless controllers, it's give or take. The biggest influences for me would be backward compatability, fun games and also playing whatever type of new DVD format that sticks. I wouldn't buy a next gen console right away either, but wait till the price drops by half at least. And not just the system, the games would have to be fairly inexpensive and have a wide selection as well. I would rather buy (+/-) 5 Good 2600 games for 40-50$, then one Mediocre new generation game that takes less then a day to beat and drops in value a few months after release.
  14. I was probably just as lost after reading your post. Some members do modifications of cases and such for various systems so the spare shells might have been usable to someone, who knows. Next time if you get a chance, post in the Marketplace that you have a bunch of non-working parts & stuff to get rid of and just have a person pay for shipping if they want it.
  15. Part of me hates to "spoil the fun" but I can say for once I agree w/ Gregory. Considering that a member here lost their GBA Sp and how upset they were I would check and see if any were reported missing first.
  16. Don't feel bad, I'm kicking my own butt for not getting the '03 Holiday Greeting Cart myself. Maybe someone will have 2 and we can each get one. You did post first so you get first dibbs. Good luck Hunting!
  17. If it was in an airport you never know, I am sure they have a lost and found. Granted it's a snowball chance in well you know, but never hurts to call anyway and at least document it. Especially if you know all the games in it and can ID it (serial number on paperwork or listing the games) they may send it to you wherever you are if they find it. Good luck!
  18. Never used an Emulator in my life either. It doesn't mean I wouldn't give it a try ... someday. But for me at least, even if the game is beat up to all hell - there's something about putting an actual cart in a system and firing it up. Controllers may be better and graphics may be steadier, but I guess I am just nostalgic that way. I do enough on computers every day and don't sit in front of them to play console system games. I may "collect" games per say by default then, but I don't really care about how beat up a label is - as long as I can read it and the game plays just fine then it's all good to me. As far as games costing a lot of money - that's why there are Cuttle Carts, Multi Carts, and now the Krok Cart - as long as it's available I'd rather put a game on one of those and play it more traditionally/realistically. Probably also why there is more room taken up by carts then people or in some rooms. Guess I am just weird.
  19. Hopefully there will be more up at that price since they're all gone now.
  20. I would think the new system if put in place would be great for sellers, since IMO and that of people earlier, it would jack up prices terribly. As someone who looks for the best prices possible it would just mean that I would put in a bid a few seconds before the 15 minutes mark (prior to close of auction) instead of in the last minute before the auction closes. It's more of a risk but what other coice is there. *shrug* I am sure this will lead to less good deals on Epay then there already are. (Not that there are many left anyway.) Everything it seems anymore is "retro, classic, collectible, rare, hard to find... or any other number of synonyms which still translates to "I think it's worth a lot more then it's actual value, so I will charge people rediculous amounts". I still miss Bidiots.
  21. I've found that the larger store have more variety over all in games but the smaller stores have some more weird/off the wall titles, it's just you may have to look more thourougly. I don't trade in any games either at EB or Gamestop for that reason unless they are running one of their random promos (even then it's rare). I wish there was more variety around here but the two mentioned sucked the life out of the local game stores. I would recommend supporting a non-chain/mom n pop store whenever possible as well...even if their price is a dollar or two higher at least you are contributing to a family instead of a big company. Although, in one store I know of the employees really do care it's just that they are limited in some ways of what they can do to help the customers because of being a corporate buisness. It depends on the managers in the stores too - if you have a good manager there's a support system for the emplyess and good ones stick around. On a corporate level some times the employess are treated no better then the customers, which is really just plain sad. When working for about 10 yrs in retail, I always looked at the fact and told the people who worked for/with me that - If it wasn't for the customers we wouldn't have a job and the company wouldn't be in buisness. I also treated people like I would want to be treated and didn't ask other employess to do something or ask them to do more, then I would do. (Now those were the "good old" days.)
  22. I have it on very close authority  that most EB stores have a "touch display" pad that you scan your Eb card/credit card through which lists the your purchase, in this case the games, individually. They also have a system which can actually check values before trading the games in, even via the phone. I like to bug a certain special someone when I am curious about values and prices myself. *snicker* I have no idea where that particular employee pulled that policy from but it smells of bull$#!+ and that the guy was being effing lazy and an @$$#0le to boot but at the very least on some kind of personal power trip. *sigh* People like that give all retail store employees a bad name. Sadly, most major stores do have small trade-in values though for older system games as well as very common or mass produced ones. Why I wait till the game has been out a while and buy them used. If I really want to play a new game I'll rent it first - much cheaper and I can still get my "fix". Also, don't fall for the old "we can't show you the disc before you buy a used game or movie" line - unless a game is 100% sealed that's BS too. I've actually made a few clerks open a package if I hear the disc rattling inside and have been horrified at what I have seen several times. I believe that they are supposed to refuse game discs in shit shape but again it's laziness. Hope that helps.
