9/10. I missed number 6.
-
I just picked up a Dreamcast the other day, and am looking for some fun games to play. Any suggestions?
-
It's not, if the screw I've found is the right one. There are any holes on the outside to get into, so it must be. Should I tighten it, or loosen it?
-
Wait, what? How can I play the tape AND adjust the head at the same time? I'm totally lost.
-
Huh. Well, I should PROBABLY find the instructions, then!
-
Well, the tapes I have now work fine for saving/loading from the VIC itself, so I'll see what I can do with the tape deck... What should I adjust?
-
Hehe... Sorry if I was being vague. The Datasette itself works beautifully, I've tested saving, loading, etc. I'm using one of these to get the program onto the tape. I got a headphone jack to headphone jack at Radioshack. It's coming from the computer's headphone jack into the mic input on the cassette deck.
-
I opened it up, dusted EVERYTHING off with a can o' air, about to try again. I don't want to muck around with the innards if I can avoid it.
-
The screw was stripped, and it still doesn't work. Maybe its the computer I'm using to burn the game to the tape... I'll have to try a different one later.
-
Ok, I see it. I'll try to adjust it now...
-
The keys on the Cassette drive, or the computer itself?
-
Datasette came in the mail today. The cassettes is came with work fine, but the ones I create almost never work. So far, I've gotten one to work, but trying to play the same tape again failed. I follow the onscreen directions, it says 'Searching' and appears to be done within one minute. I try to run the game, but it just says 'Ready' again. What am I doing wrong?
-
Thanks a bushel. This thing seems like just the thing I need. I assume it comes with the cart shell? Dumb question, but all I saw on the site was the innards...
-
With my luck, I'd buy the uIEC, then need a feature included on the Ultimate II later on. SO, now I need to find a way to pay for the darned thing!
-
The uIEC looks really complicated, and the Ultimate 1541 does pretty much everything... I guess I'll have to try to get a summer job and get the fancy one!
-
So the 1541 Ultimate II is an actual piece of hardware? Either way, I'll probably get the uIEC device. 200 USD is WAY out of my price range. Do you have a link to anywhere that I could find more information on the uIEC? Google searches weren't to fruitful...

Thanks for the info. I don't possess any useful tinkering skills, so I might have to shell out a few bucks an SD interface... My PC is nowhere near where the C64 might go, so the Star Commander route isn't an option, unless I get a crazy long cable.
-
I've read some things about SD emulation for a 1541 disk drive, allowing me to play the games without the disks. Where can I get these, and how much will it cost me? I'd prefer the real thing, but thats not really an option. Also, should I get the original Breadbox, or the updated 64C? The one I'm looking at is an earlier model, so I'm leaning toward that. Thanks in advance!

How durable are the Intelly controllers? I almost bought on at a flea market the other day, but my dad (Who had one as a kid) told me that the controllers were crap, and frequently broke. He said that the little disc wore through the little pad inside the controller. Anyone have this problem, or lack thereof?
-
Thanks much! So, I need a tape recorder... Do I need a computer with a special jack for the RCA cable, or will a headphone jack work?
-
Do you have any idea how to burn a *.TAP file from a PC onto a VIC cassette? Still trying to register at Denial... xD
-
EXCELLENT that you are into vintage hardware!! Isn't this stuff fun and interesting? I have never lost my curiosity over it ever since I was your age and the Vic 20 was just being replaced 22 years running so far. Thanks! This stuff is endlessly amazing. I could sit down and play my 2600, NES, etc. for hours. Funny how the laptop I received less than five years ago is already defunct (Apparently there were some defective video cards coming from Dell), but my Vic 20 from the early 80's still functions beautifully. They just don't make computers/games like they used to. xD
-
I checked out the Megacart. While awesome beyond measure, it's WAY out of my price range. This happens a lot, being 13 with no regular income . I'm going to ask the folks on Denial in a bit, because it won't let me register for awhile. Those darned anti-bot measures kept me out for now.
-
Thanks! I've been lurking for a long time, and finally decided to register. I should have worded the question differently... I'd like to know how to back up the *.TAP files onto a cassette for use in my VIC.
-
I got it awhile ago, and am finally getting a datasette for it. I heard that the datasette could be used to play back-up cassettes, but it didn't really tell me how to go about it. Does anyone know how, or know where to find a detailed guide?
