  1. Good thought, , but the cs8900 would probably overheat if there is not enough "open space" around it. It generates a lot of heat. That is what I am looking into for the second run actually. I would have to totally redesign the board which I am willing to do. All the components would have to be surface mount devices because anything through-hole would have to be hand soldered and that would make such a small run too expensive. Also, I can probably make a single board device fit into a standard cart shell except for the RJ45 port, which would also make assembly much easier. I have to make some calls and try to get an estimate for such a board assembly before I do any engineering. I know it's possible, but I am concerned about the cost. I want to keep the cost of the cart under $50.00 if at all possible. You are very welcome. Thanks for posting the pics. It's really cool to see them out in the world and being used! Are there any more for sale? Frank

  3. I think the new version is great, but as mentioned before I have to load the new version of the side-loader with the old version of the side-loader. So I wish I could flash it on the cart.
  4. put me down for new cables (800XL) so I can replace my hack-soldering-job with dropchecks's adapter. Yes, I managed to hack up the wide ribbon cable too. Frank

  6. That will only create a double-density disk of 1440 sectors. My end goal is to create a quad-density 65535 sector ATR.
  7. Is there anything out there to make a QD ATR image? I have utilities to make DD ones, but not QD. Frank
  8. Ok, now I feel dumb. Turns out I had an older copy of FDISK in a tools directory and it was getting picked up before car: Frank
  9. I have been using my SIDE cart with no problems. I wanted to modify the partitions and typed FDISK when I saw the error "IDE driver not installed" What does that mean and how to I fix it so I can run FDISK? Frank
  10. -delete- I suck at soldering - all working again -

  12. Cacn you post another picture of how you folded all the cables and stuff?
  13. For those of us not so comfortable with soldering, can someone take a picture of where they picked up HALT on an 800XL? I followed the pictures for the other three easily enough, but I didn't want to make a mistake counting pins for HALT. Frank
  14. Is it not SpartaDOS X friendly? I just get a black screen after it's loaded.
  15. Just thought I would say that. I thought my Atari days were long over, but it's become a whole new adventure! Frank
