  1. Hold on just a second guys...

I understand that Curt is doing something good for the community. BUT, if you pay money for anything you would at least expect some kind of answer as to what is going on with your order after nearly TEN months. Come on now. I placed my order in Sept of 2010, and I was fully aware that this could take some time. But I have emailed Legacy just to simply enquire about the money I had paid them and what is going on with my order.... and receive absolutely no reply at all. I have to work on the words of a few people here and how they have "faith" in the project? I need something better than that. A simple answer from the *company* I send my money over to would definitely be a more solid answer to my question.

Again (as I have said before) I do not think that Curt is trying to screw anyone, but the lack of communication with his *customers* (people that actually paid for this) is extremely concerning. I ended up sending an email through Legacy's site once again, now simply requesting a refund. I have no other choice at this point. Somehow I am not expecting a response on this either, and that is a troubling thing.

This is a hobby project and I'm pretty sure Curt is busy with his real life job btw. I don't know how many people preordred the XM but let say 100. I don't think he will have the time to personally answer everyone. Instead what he is doing is updating the XM status page frequently since the debut of the project. So this is his way to communicate with all his customers in an efficient way.

an automated email response is enough, it takes 20 seconds, and shows respect for your customers

the same with the FB2 thing , "i don`t know " was enough for many of us, again 10 seconds

I don't need an automated email answer to see Curt respect for it's customer.

Just seeing how much he cared about finding the right company to manufactured a nameplate just like the original Atari is enough.

He is working hard to make the product perfect in every aspect either the look of the case, the hardware and the software.

THAT's a proof of respect for his customer. I wish Sony and Microsoft has the same respect for their customer when they designed their own stuff....

that`s respect for the final product ,

    certainly not for you

Curt already said he's exchanged multiple e-mails with you. What more do you want from him?

At this point, I'd have to agree with the others: just go away. Please. You're one of the most destructive people I've seen on these boards, pissing in everybody's pool by getting productive people angry and driving them away from their projects.

  3. Curt,

I don't care how long it takes to complete the Atari 7800 XM as long as the quality of the product is good.

nobody cares how long it takes,

that`s not really the point here

Maybe I am wrong on this and I really hope that I am. But all I am asking as a customer that has pre-paid for a product is that I get some kind of personal answer as to the status. It is not so hard to simply email a reply and say "not done yet"...just to let me know someone over at Legacy Engineering is still alive, is it?

    my point

i don't care if those joystick were stolen by the mail guys or lost 2 and a half years ago, shit happens...

    bought them again,

    end of story

but it`s not cool not receiving answers and being told from Curt`s "friends" the same happened to lots of people

  6. Curt,

The complainers around here may be LOUD, but they are far out numbered by the level headed folks who are patiently waiting for you to finish this project. Please don't let them discourage you. You are doing great work and there are hundreds of people here who appreciate it. Sergio has already cost us Pacmanplus. Don't let him drive you off. He's just a troll.

Pacmanplus is not out yet, just wait

and this troll only responded here to questions of many people

with his experience with curt as a seller

never said he designed bad products,

was dishonest, nor a bad person

    just replied with facts

  7. Alright. enough is enough. This time, two strikes, you're out.

MODERATORS: just ban this dude. Sorry, Sermajic- first Bob, now Curt.... you're out dude!

This is just nonsense. There are enough of us that love and support this hobby that we just don't need this.

    -Chris

    yes

    let`s ban this dude!!

    i don`t think like him!

    so he`s out

  8. the 0.001% of the people who bought it are the one in all these forums

Which makes us the minority, sadly. The FB2 does exactly what the majority expects. It allows people to reconnect with their youth and fun times by playing its built in VCS games. The fact that you can hack it, if you have the skills, is only a bonus to the minority. If it was supposed to play cart games out of the box and it didn't it would be a huge failure to everybody.

    agree!!

i`m not questioning the quality of the product

  9. same thing happened with flashback 2 ,

the "god" did not even care enough to give minimum details of it

in order to make the system compatible with the larger games

he is always busy on the

    "next big thing"

I believe that was an honest mistake. They did not provide a proper A12 signal, and instead probably just floated the cart data bus during TIA/RIOT accesses, and probably didn't realize the compatibility issues with doing so.

It would be nice to know if there are any possible workarounds, though, such as a chip select signal somewhere, and at the very least it would be nice to know that Curt is at least aware of the issue so this design flaw doesn't crop up in potential future Legacy products (like any portables.)

    maybe

but why enlistening in a forum if you won`t care to support what you have made?

you on the other side care to answer all the time,

    even to newbies like me

about worries for the money deposited, i believe Curt is honest and will eventually comply with all orders

(when we feels like it,of course)

All the FB2 had to do was run its built in games. The fact that you could run your own collection of back catalogue games by adding a cart connector to it and thus voiding the warranty (because you have to open it and solder wires etc.) was only of interest to probably 0.001% of the people who bought it.

  11. Well, let's make it not sad and focus on the positive aspects of the great things going on by the majority of the people involved with Atari Age. This is a forum, and opinions are welcome. I think we can turn this around, get Bob back and active again, and try to encourage the good vibe from people, and let the haters and naysayers go unresponded to. We all need to keep our heads above the rest, and think about the mature human beings that we are, and to not let ourselves tear someone else down or spread a negative and undeserved vibe. I believe Bob will come back, and so will the others that have supported him in the past, as well as the people who have supported and continue to support this scene. Let's lift the elephant in the room, kick it's ass out of here, and get ready for a whole new system with great attributes to look forward to. Stay positive, folks, this is only a small forum, let's make it a great one!

    i think the same way

and i woul like to apologize with pacmanplus in public

i come around a post and saw him complaining for a box`s picture,

    and without thinking ,

the words "come on ,it`s only a box, get a life"

    got out of my keyboard

after his insults in repply it all escalated and ended in all the posts you saw

in that time i didn`t know half of what i now know and feel very sorry Bob left the forum

    well that`s all ,

just wanted to say in the open "i`m trully sorry"

  12. Well after reading this thread it seems there is ALOT of pissed off people, some very patient people and a half dozen or so blinded sheep who would accept spit off the street as nectar from a god even if punched in the back of the head while they licked it up. Crazy stuff but an intresting read none the less.

how could you read my mind?!! icon_wink.gif

  14. Not sure if you were supposed to give out the Beef Drop SD?

One thing I'll say is that the 5200 community is blessed with guys like Steve/classics, Ken Siders/kenfused, Wratchild, and Bob/PacManPlus, who have done so many conversions and released them free. Beats having to fiddle with an Atari 800!! Whereas the Colecovision community releases are almost 100% sales of cart-only.

I have to agree with you on this one. I have been REALLY turned off by the CV community lately. I only collect CIB games for the 5200, so all the CIB game releases for the CV are totally useless to me. Sell me a damn cart and be done with it. I suspect they get great pride in seeing their games go for big bucks on Ebay.

can`t see why they do it,

they think they are keeping the system "alive" that way ,

when its quite the opposite in fact...

  15. With the 5200 SD + RAM cart, it would be entirely possible, and might expand the potential to games that need 32K or more RAM.

The biggest barrier is the fact that Pokey and GTIA live in different locations in the memory map, so the best method would be to use IDA or a disassembler to make source code then modify/reassemble to correct those.

A universal "OS extension" could be devised such that the commonly used shadow register RAM locations are made common which could ease the process more.

i know they can be converted with this excellent cart,

but is there a way to make a program that does it automatically?

because no one is making 8bit to 5200 conversions,

    and

my cart /sd port is thirsty! icon_mad.gif

  16. This experiment is over.

If you want some fresh games maybe you should download an emulator and work your way through the 7800's collection of homebrews. When AA's store opens up for business again you'll be able to pick them up.

where can i download the 7800 collection of homebrews?

  17. I'm settling into a spell of work in Brno (Czech Republic) and so may be able to find some time to get a few more A8 conversions done.

    pleaseee

i need some games for the Supersystem on the horizon !

  18. Talking about history in the making...

It still blows me away how impressive this conversion is.

This game definitely deserves a place in First Star's BD library.

    A truly brilliant creation.

    8)

    agree

never thought i would see it on the 2600
