I think calling Orange Pixel's games "shovelware" couldn't be farther from the truth. From what I've seen, OP's games have been polished retro-style entries with really fun gameplay. Gunslugs, Space Grunts, and Stardash (to name a few) have all had a lot of game time on my VCS. Sure, a few of these titles have had mobile ports, but don't let that fool you, these games have been an awesome addition to the VCS console. This is obviously my biased opinion (OP is probably my favorite non-atari developer for the VCS), but I think calling these games shovelware is wildly inaccurate.

I agree Orange Pixel games are far from shovelware.

  2. I love all of your games.  I bought Alien Abduction on day one for the VCS.  I love it and look forward to anything else you may want to make for the 2600.  I hope you decide to continue game development on the 2600.  Your games are awesome.

I may possibly cry. Literally. I can't buy games right now on my VCS. Or, as Q*bert would say, @!#?@!

However, once I can buy it, I will buy it without hesitation. Food Fight is one of my favorite games of all time.

If you are experiencing the zip code bug, try backing out and going back in.  If you see "1234 1234 1234 1234" for the credit card number, back out.  I did it several times on the featured game list yesterdayday and had the issue.  I backed out and tried to select the game in the new game section and it worked on either the first or second try.

I've kept my CC info saved on the VCS all this time and that hasn't had any effect on the issue. In fact, I know when the issue has cropped back up just by my CC info coming up as not saved when I try to make a purchase.

That's good to know.  I probably had my CC saved and then it kicked it out when the bug came back.

It just sucks. As a new VCS owner I was able to buy a few games. Now I can't buy squat!

This has happened to me three or four times since the end of June.  I stopped having my CC number stored as my nephew (who is 8 years old) has a VCS with my account on it.  Although I bought pretty much most of the games with the exception of original 7800 and Dosbox games.  There are a couple of other VCS games I haven't bought yet and of course the new games that I can't buy at this time, so I probably will try to save my CC info in the system to see if I can avoid this nonsense again.  I wanted to do that this last time, but I bought a couple of games with a visa gift card and that erased my CC info.  This will get fixed, probably in a week or two and I recommend saving your CC info for future purchases.  That might solve the issue?

Apparently it's cured again, but Atari really needs to discuss this urgently with the payment provider to avoid any repetition.

I bought 3 games today, and I had no problem, but my payment details were already authorised on the VCS for quite a while.

The zip code bug is still present.  I just tried again to purchase Haunted House and it failed yet again.

  7. I think I might have made my point clear, but just in case people misinterpreted what I said.  I don't think there will be any changes here on Atariage.  I understand everyone's feelings on the current Atari, and that's cool.  I, for one, really enjoy the new VCS and the games that Atari has been making lately.  There are some amazing talent in the home-brew scene and I hope it just expands and keeps going.

A follow up to my previous post.  I just thought of a quick example of why we all need to

go somewhere else to criticize Atari.

In November, when the new Atari 2600+ consoles ship.

If we, as a community, will want to have honest discussion about what we like and don't like

about them, IMO we all will need to go some place else to do it.

See what I mean?  Just my thoughts about it.

I think there will be new places that pop up, but you will be able to criticize Atari, their games, and their platforms here.  I don't feel healthy criticism will get blocked, but perhaps childish crying will.

I can, I suppose, clarify the reasons I withdrew Qb from sale. I think the reasons are fairly obvious now.

This makes sense now.  There are other options for homebrewers to make cartridges and I think other options might be springing up sooner rather than later.  Qb is still an awesome game that I keep going back to.

Qomp2 looks fantastic! Refreshing new take on Pong with a great backdrop story.

I got the announcement from Atari Today but I didn't know about Qomp1.

Fans of the new genre perspective may also enjoy the similarly themed BREAKOUT 2002 LASERBEAMS PAL on either the new Atari 2600+ console or the classic. It's a SuperCharger game but there is also a CBS RAM version that should be compatible with the Atari 2600+ in cart form:

Qomp 1 is available on Steam and is really good.  I heard there was an issue with the source code and that is why they couldn't port it to the VCS, but I heard that this basically replaces the first game.  I am looking forward to it.

I'm taking a break from all things Atari 2600.  I'm not in a good frame of mind for this stuff any more.

Hope you feel better soon.  Sometimes a clear mind can help you to continue to do amazing work.
