  1. I'm prepared to pay decent money for the following:

All exclusively Atari 7800 PAL versions (not 2600):

    Kung Fu Master

    Double Dragon

    Super Skateboardin'

    Donkey Kong

    Mario Bros

Ideally I'd like these boxed with instructions, but I'm willing to consider loose cartridges.

Let me know if you're willing to sell any of these.

    Many thanks

    Ric

  2. Still trying to complete my 7800 collection, and I was just wondering what NTSC region games work on a PAL console.

I know Water Ski works, as I have a copy. But does Rampage, Tank Command, Kung Fu Master work etc? Finding it hard to track down a PAL copy of Donkey Kong, does an NTSC copy work in a PAL machine? Also, can anyone supply a list of NTSC 7800 games that actually work in PAL.

As always, any help is appreciated.

    Many thanks!

  3. Been collecting for the Atari 7800 for five years and have all the PAL games boxed, apart from the following:

I need these boxed though! And in PAL region.

Super Skateboardin' - Popped up ebay a couple of months ago as buy it now. Missed it!

Kung Fu Master - Never seen this boxed as PAL region anywhere!

Mario Bros - Got the cartridge, but this seems really rare boxed as PAL.

Double Dragon - I want the standard cardboard issue, rather than the HES release.

Donkey Kong - Got the cartridge, but rarely comes up boxed as PAL region.

If anyone can help me track these down, it would be most appreciated.

    Thanks.

  4. See above. I have a full Atari PAL set, most of the PAL Salu/HES releases (I have at least one for each title) and all the NTSC only games. All complete. And all homebrew. Yeah, I'm a 7800 freak ;)

Regarding NTSC only games. I have Winter Games, Water Ski(had 2, sold 1), Realsports Baseball and Touchdown Football. Rampage and Summer Games seem bloody rare and struggling to get these at a decent price. And we all know about Tank Command. Do you have any pictures of your 7800 collection?

  5. Dark Chambers is hard to find though, on PAL compared to NTSC. It was one of the last PAL titles I got my hands on for instance. But no, it's not rare rare in terms of scale.

Do you have a complete PAL collection then? I'm probably going to go to my grave looking for these bloody games.

  6. People are always saying Dark Chambers is the rarest PAL game. This simply isn't true. I managed to get one pretty easily, and have seen further copies since. Without doubt the 3rd party games are by far the rarest. I've been informed that a PAL copy of Super Skateboardin' did appear on ebay UK last year. Must have been a buy it now, or I was on holiday, because I missed that. Damn!

  7. Nowadays only ebay is your best 7800 friend 'fraid.

Telegames is just updating their site, it will be back. You can always phone your order.

Try and get the HES games from Germany, as they are sometimes plenty around.

Try http://www.videogamer.de/show.php?main+Video_Game_Source, but just checked, even they are selling out. Looks like HES stuff is getting rare.

Try and get the US-only games first, like Baseball, Touchdown Football, Robotron 2084, Asteroids.

Early days it was more easy collecting 7800, in UK, as I said before, 7800 games were avaiable all over the place. Later on, Macro sold 7800 games in 5-packs for GBP 15. Imagine how easy that was to complete the collection that way.

I managed to buy Water Ski cheap back in the early 90s from USA ebay, never managed to get Tank Command though, my only missing title (next to the 7800 32 in 1 cart, which was just the 2600 version with a 7800 label).

Rampage was popping up on ebay US also all the time back then, but now, they seem to dry out. It's not so easy anymore. Klax I got from the ResQsoft website.

Although a friend of mine the in USA just managed to complete his 7800 collection, and he only started 1 year ago with 7800 collecting.

Yes, I agree it seems to be getting more difficult lately. Only 3 years ago I was snapping up mint sealed copies of games such as Food Fight, Desert Falcon, Galaga and Joust etc for only 2 quid each! Strange that the collecting market has changed so much, considering Retro Gamer magazine ignores 7800 games completely. Yes, they did a dreadful retrospective on the console a few issues back....annoyed me no end! Thanks for the advice though.

  8. Okay, so it seems these games were actually distributed within the UK. However, the chance of me getting these games now seems very slim indeed. Telegames site is down, and I can't find anyone else that stocks 3rd party 7800 games. Surely I can't be the only 7800 PAL collector out there that's seriously struggling to find these games. Would love to hear from people that have completed the full collection of 7800 PAL games, and how they did it.

  9. I've been collecting for the 7800 for several years now. During this period I've NEVER seen any of the PAL games Absolute issued for sale on Ebay UK. Yes, the HES versions sometimes crop up in Australia or Germany, but never in the UK. Can anyone give me some background on this? Were they actually distributed in the UK, because I'm starting to think they weren't. Thinking back to the late 80's when Toys R Us sold Atari games I have no recolection of seeing the Absolute titles for the 7800, only the 2600. If Kung Fu Master, Super Skateboardin' and the others actually appeared on Ebay UK in cardboard boxes (rather than HES clam) they would surely sell for a fortune. Does anyone know the true value of the 7800 Absolute games in PAL region. And were they distributed in the UK, or only Europe and Australia? The search continues!

  10. I'm in the process of building up a fully boxed collection of 7800 games. I've not read anywhere that a boxed PAL copy of Donkey Kong is rare, but getting hold of a copy at a reasonable price is proving to be hard work. Strange, as Donkey Kong Junior is readily available at a decent price. Is it rare because of original distribution. Or is is it people holding on to them for dear life?

  11. Would someone be kind enough to test my copy of Commando for the 7800 on their console? I've tried both copies, having cleaned etc and still no joy. Shaking graphics on area 3. I need to know if I have faulty console or faulty copies of the game. I will pay postage including return to sender.I know this sounds like an odd request, but I don't want to pay out for yet another copy, only to find out it's my console that must be faulty. And vice versa. Many thanks Ric

  12. Yeah, the clamshells are HES PAL versions. I only needed Super Skateboarding out of those four, so I'm not exactly that keen to bid either. Unless someone just needs the others...

Out of curiosity, how much did you pay for PAL copies of Kung Fu Master and Double Dragon? They seem pretty rare!

  13. There is a Robotron 2084 in the picture. That's an NTSC only title (it hangs in PAL) so you'd be better off asking if they are PAL versions of the games you are interested in.

Yeah, Robotron is NTSC. But the other 3rd party games look like Australian hard case PAL copies to me.

  14. Hello,

I have two copies(purchased seperately) of Commando for my Atari 7800. Both copies display the same gameplay problem. The game plays perfectly until I get halfway through area 3. The bottom two thirds of the screen will then flash and shake uncontrolably, rendering the game frustrating to play. This problem is exactly the same with both copies I have. I know this isn't part of the game play, as I've watched run throughs on the internet. All my other 7800 cartridges play perfectly and display no problems at all. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Since all my other games play fine is it possible that I have two faulty copies of the same game?. Or has something broken within my console? Any help and advice would be gratefully received.
