A small part of me still hopes they can deliver a piece of hardware of some sort so I can have it and mess with it, and keep it as a curious piece of history. After that, then they can go out of business/file for bankruptcy/get bought out by a larger outfit. XD

Yep, watched a lot of those videos. MadLittlePixel is awesome, really cool guy. I'm not the biggest fan of DreamcastGuy so much though-- he kinda rubs me the wrong way. He was also inaccurate when he said the Game Board was Atari's other project-- that's Rob Wyatt's own project.

Lol. XD Yeah, that's the problem. I'm actually the only guy developing the games I work on. The platforming project I was working on for the VCS is actually something I wanted to work on with my girlfriend, who was going to do the character art for it. She's still interested in it too. Now that she's actually living with me we could collaborate on it together way more easily. > u < But I digress. I wonder what you do to become a partner though, but I guess that's a question I could message them about. I'll do that tonight probably. o u o
-
I also see in the press release that they have a readily visible link for developers to shoot them a message about partnering with them to produce content for the console. VERY tempted to click it. > u <

We got a foot of snow here in Eastern US. ;3

Lol, setting aside all conversation about the VCS for a second-- I didn't even know this was a thing. o 3 o I'm not going to pick sides here, but personally I don't like that term... I'm willing to bet it was made up by someone on the internet in the last 15 years, and it's just a term to give people an excuse to be assholes to other people. But that's just me. LOL.

In fairness to you, I sorta get where you're coming from, because I was there too. One thing you have to realize is that there's going to be a lot of sarcasm in this thread, because this is a thread about the Atari VCS-- a console that the general public is NOT taking seriously at all. I usually like having meaningful conversations about the topic at hand, but Atari burned me as a developer and a consumer, so I don't frankly care what people are like towards the project anymore. Reality is harsh, but you get used to it.

I plan to do this with my unit (that's if it ships... :P) Unfortunately for you I'm on the same stance as others here-- this project is a joke and is totally destined for failure. For a long time I was on the same boat as you, and I even wanted to develop an exclusive game for the VCS. That's how excited I actually was about it. But months passed, and I contacted Atari via email to get more insider/developer specifics about the console and its SDK. I made sure I was professional and polite in my message to them, so it was nothing I did wrong. The only response I got from Atari was a somewhat scripted response that basically said "We will share more information soon!" etc. That isn't exactly the best way to get off on a good foot with probably your only willing developer that's interested in creating exclusive game content for your platform. Besides that little mishap, there have been instances where I was very constructive towards Atari and gave them proper feedback on the Indiegogo page comments section, and they outright ignored my suggestions as they did with everyone else. Their communication is absolutely non-existent, and their defensiveness when we pester them for more details is setting a bad impression and is a direct result of all the negative feedback being poured out by the media. These reasons mentioned are what caused me to effectively switch sides and run with what everyone else on this thread is saying. That being said, I'm regrettably locked into my purchase-- so I'll be waiting to see if they deliver a console to my doorstep after the holidays. If they do, then awesome. It will be my own nifty little streaming box, and an emulation device for Atari 2600, 5200, 7800 and Atari Jaguar games (and perhaps some MAME). But that's all it's going to be. I'm definitely interested in looking at the Intellivision Amico as a potential platform to make content for, and I may even make my ex-VCS game exclusive to it.

This is just too fucking awesome. LOL!

I haven't seen my comments getting deleted for some reason. o 3 o I've been trying to keep my comments professional, because I sincerely want Atari to hear me out. Not that those of us who are more snorky are wrong. But yeah. Sorry, I'm tipsy. All we really need to do is group together and show Atari that the fans are right! Show them that with great power, comes great responsibility. We have to be diplomatic and constructive in our approach, like everybody waz for the Sonic Movie. Think about this: The Sonic movie was made by Paramount Studios, which is statisctically speaking about 50,000,000,000 times larger than Atari is. I'm willing to bet that Atari has maybe 10-30 people. Just a roundabout guess honestly... xDDDD But fans grouped together and GOT!!! Paramount to listen to us to change the design of Sonic for the movie. And it WORKED!!!! HAH!!! …... or maybe give me a pillow...

Lol, imagine if you accidentally clicked "Submit" and sent them $999,999. XDDD
-
He asked for a response, so I ended up giving him one. ;D

I'm sorry guys, but I have to say this: Instead of drowning ourselves in misery and discontent with the Atari VCS, we should be crying in sheer joy that the Sonic movie actually looks good. ..... or if you're not into Sonic-- something else... This is that point of time in the thread where I'm like, "m'kay.... no VCS updates..... taco jokes, sure....... how about some actual positive news about video games in general right now? > u >" And this isn't the first time I've gotten that feeling. Anybody else relate?
-
So on an unrelated note, the new Sonic Movie trailer came out today, AND IT'S FREAKING AWESOME! They fixed Sonic! ….….. On a related note: Fans told Paramount/Sega to change what they're doing, and they listened... and both sides are happy. Atari, take some fucking notes.

Things are falling apart in the Indiegogo comments section:
-
If anything, this will certainly be a curious piece of history, albeit a negative one. I have a feeling it will have some sort of historical value down the line. But nothing else. There's absolutely no way this thing will be successful. o u o
-
So yew don't feel bad for yourself? o w o
-
Hell yeah man. 65! :3
-
…… and that is exactly why I responded to him with this: LOL … also, I just want to add that we are happy that Atari reminded us just how nice tacos (and sushi ) are, and I highly doubt the VCS will succeed... Huh.. James' logic didn't work. Weird...

Kinda small, but I think this is what you're referring to: Very different from the actual boxes they ended up with: (the boxes below are also in the video I posted on the last page)
-
I'm surprised the controllers don't really get mentioned that often-- what about those? o u o I saw this video on YouTube from CNET where you can actually see both the modern controller and joystick working, at least to some extent. This was taken back in like June: Keep in mind, this shouldn't be a confidence builder to anyone. Remember, they need to make at least several thousand of these. But, this could at least show that the controllers are in a functional state. I also was able to match up the Missile Command gameplay with the person's hand movements on the joystick (though he could just be doing it in sync with the footage for all we know). Just thought it was kinda interesting.

LOL! The Registry. xDDD
-
"Nothing about the SDK promise"... tsk tsk tsk. Sounds all too familiar.

You know what's absolutely fucking great? Because of you writing that little piece of code, posting it here and declaring it as code for Atari OS, we technically speaking now have proof that it exists IN SOME FORM. ;D Lol.....
