  1. LOL, as further proof of my ignorance on the topic, I have no Idea what either of you are talking about. :D

I would type dos to bring up the menu, then hit A for the file list. I've already disconnected the disc drive, and am on to the Tape drive. Type CLOAD, press play and advance at the same time, I thought that was how it works, but it's been a while since i messed with one of these. any advice on the tape drive? just how to run the games.

  2. I know this is a totally noobish question, that thankfully someone should be able to answer easily for me. I just got a bunch of old floppies and a 1050 drive off craigslist. Shockingly it works, as do most of the discs. my problem is, when the disc doesn't have autoload installed, and I have to launch the game file from disc, exactly what command do I type?

I get to the point where it lists the files,

    KABOOM EXE 124

    PACMAN EXE 344

    ATTACK EXE 222

etc, when I type KABOOM.EXE the computer prompts me to type one letter, what letter? for the love of god, WHAT LETTER?!?

any help would be amazing, thanks. what letter is it asking for? in relation to what?

  3. The problem is that these things are so darn simple. It's odd that it will only work in the middle of the screen. When you fire, does it at least register that you're firing?

yes, the trigger works, and I can sort of hit stuff in the middle of the screen. I feel like maybe the eye inside is loose/out of position and that could be affecting the accuracy. I tried to take it apart but broke my screwdriver bit  .

  4. I'm having trouble with the sega master system phazer. I've bought two at this point, and both didn't work right- they would only register in the center of the screen, but not to the left or right. the only game I have is Rescue mission, could it be the game? or just bad luck? and before any one asks, no, I'm not using an LCD tv :/

  5. If you haven't played it yet, do it. Games like this are why I got into 800, there are alot of great games no one has ever heard of. every once in a while when sifting through a ton of roms you find a gem like this. There's so much going on, and there is even a different song at the end of every level! I couldn't find any video of the A8 version on youtube, just the far inferior C64 and Apple II versions.

  6. Yeah, the trak-ball was a great idea that went horribly wrong.

Have you tried it with Crystal Castles?

I have never tried it with Crystal Castles, the teddy bear on the box put me off it.

I had a WICO trackball back in the 80's and I remember liking it.

I never had Millipede though. I've been playing lots of Millipede recently through emulation. Very fun!

Who should we ask that can mod Millipede for the trackball?

Remember that arcade centipede had a limit of how fast the shooter went left / right, it wasn't as fast as you could spin it. The trackball shines in the fine positioning of up down left right where you're shooting.

I can't get any fine positioning on my TB. Maybe the WICO TB is better. I was going to buy one, but then I read that it only works in joystick mode, so it couldn't be used to play the Missile Command TB hack. And why do almost all of the TB's have a yellow ball? It looks like earwax. Black or stainless steel would have looked so much cooler.

And I agree, someone needs to mod Millipede for the TB. I would definitely buy a copy.

What someone REALLY needs to do is a TB compatible Millipede hack based on the 7800 version of Centipede.

  7. Does anyone think a port of Wonderboy/Adventure Island would be possible on the 7800? Side scrolling platformers are sorely lacking on the system, and this one is pretty simple yet alot of fun. I'm not too terrible well acquainted with the the technical abilities of the 7800, but it does seem like side scrolling wasn't one of it's strong points. thoughts?

  8. Wow, I had no idea this would become such a contentious question! Even so far as to have Atarimania himself(itself?) weigh in! thanks so much for all the info guys, I'm on the fence on wether to sell it or not, I really should on account of me already being able to play it on my maxflash cart. thanks again!

  9. Cart + Box + Instructions = $75 minimum for a rarity of 8 :)

---This is what I use to calculate---

    Cart Values:

    Rarity - $$$ Value

    1 1.00

    2 2.50

    3 5.00

    4 10.00

    5 20.00

    6 35.00

    7 50.00

    8 65.00

    9 80.00

    10 100.00

    + 5.00 with Instructions

    + 5.00 with Box

    Jay
