  1. Attack of the video game collectors who only purchase games in sealed plastic slabs which have been graded by an "expert" grader... A.K.A - Atar-dead 7800
  2. Or, perhaps, some of us just have an abstract sense of humor which you fail to recognize, enjoy or just plain old comprehend. Either way, there's no need for name calling. This is an internet forum in which we are discussing video games from 30 years ago…we aren't exactly curing cancer here dude. Lighten up. (or did I strike a nerve…perhaps, I was describing an occupation you are familiar with?)
  3. I have yet to see a game in which you play out the job of a peep show janitor…A.K.A….The Jizz Mopper. Now there is a title which Mystique missed their chance on!
  4. Shatner, Backin89, Hello Kitty, HardWork, Team Savage…and the list goes on and on….
  5. I have seen a number of them over the years….but they ain't cheap! Biggest concern is the XY color vector monitor. They can be very touchy on the best of days, and require what I would consider to be "above average" arcade experience, when it comes to DIY maintenance. At very least, it is something to be cognizant of. Additionally, the "yoke" style controller is both rather unique and finicky when it comes to calibration. Finding parts for such a controller could be a royal pain in the ass.

I can't believe it took me this long... …I'm really slacking here lately!
  7. I have seen dedicated Galaxian machines as low as $200 in my area (with cosmetic issues only), but those kinds of deals are few and far between. I looked up the listing and here is what I noticed off the bat: -There is some moderate screen burn on the monitor, and the screen has that "orange-ish" tint to it…likely needs to be re-capped. -The wood at the bottom of the cabinet is broken in sections and the plywood has de-laminated - check for water damage/mold -The side art and front art is heavily worn/scratched/faded off/initials carved in -The control panel overlay seems to have stains on it…looks like cigarette burns. Also has some peeled away spots. -The control panel metal bezel needs new paint Be sure to really check the sound…make sure the speakers are all working properly. Does the marquee light operate properly? If not, is it a bad bulb or starter? If not, you might need to replace the fixture. Does the joystick/buttons all function properly? Does the coin mech work? Check all of these things and more. Do your homework. $340 is not a bad deal by any means (even including all the cosmetic issues listed above), but it certainly could end up being a bad deal if you need to put another $340 into it to restore it properly. Weigh it all out and see if the seller might budge on the price…it seems like it was listed at $400 just a week ago, so maybe they are looking to move this right away and would be a bit more negotiable on the price. Best of luck!
  8. You should fire it up tonight…you won't regret it. It really is a good example of what the system is truly capable of (without any special boards or chips). Quite a solid game…tons of fun!
  9. I would recommend buying any of PacManPlus' games. Failsafe is one of my favorites for the system.
  10. Not my listing, and I don't know if there is anything of value in this lot. But since it was listed in the wrong place (for the most part), I figured I would post it here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/HUGE-RARE-Lot-of-Commodore-64-Manuals-Book-Lables-etc-Great-Bundle-SEE-PICS-/161446697686?pt=US_Other_Video_Game_Accessories&hash=item2596f91ad6 Maybe someone here will see something they need.
  11. Ask Marc Oberhauser. He makes tons of amazing repro boxes for various systems…he might have a solution for you.
  12. Criminals use Facebook all the time to case houses…I can't see how this would be any different. Not only do you end up showing what you currently own, but you also show them where all the most prized goodies actually sit on any given shelf….that includes your PS4. I avoid posting my name, picture or any personal data on the web (like most people), as it can be used by criminals in a countless number of ways to steal what is mine…it seems like it would be just as dangerous to post a catalog of my home inventory along with photos. I know it sounds far fetched, but sadly it is not.
  13. My 2 cents... In the current state of the internet, being the thieving/lying/con-man filled cesspool that it is, I am not surprised that most people don't want to post pics of their collections. It is an open invitation to get robbed. This might sound a bit paranoid or far-fetched, but here are the major points to be considered: 1.) in order to have a large collection, you need to be buying and selling to a large number of people on a regular basis. Craigslist, eBay and game forums...the transaction volume can be staggering. 2.) any one of these transactions can be a ploy to get a hold of your mailing address. 3.) pictures posted on a video game forum = shopping list for criminals. Say what you will...I don't have the largest collection on record by any means, but I certainly don't want to go advertising ANY of the contents of my house. A heroin addict would happily take whatever he could...drawing them a map, along with an inventory sheet just makes the job that much easier for them...not to mention, it sends them a message that it might just be worth the risk. That's why I don't post pictures of my things. Please note: I don't think that I would ever even be in the running for this kind of Hall Of Fame thing...I just don't want the wrong people coveting my personal belongings. It's an anonymous internet forum...that pretty much sums it up for me.
  14. Dude…the Nostromo is almost an exact recreation of the movie set. I am completely in awe. At the same time, there is one thing that is far, far different from the original Alien film…something quite noticeable. The movie wasn't even 1/10th as scary as the DLC version of it. Holy crap…that is amazingly difficult to play…even worse in a completely dark room with my turtle beaches on. This is going to be really tough to complete. I haven't even successfully sealed the second hatch yet!!!
  15. Most likely release candidates…loaner/tester carts. Still, a very nice find indeed!
  16. I'm not far in, but…so far, this is game amazing! More to follow….
