  1.

Thanks. That's "only" 6 hours from me. I emailed him, but don't expect to hear back, honestly. I've tried emailing him orders in the past and never got a response, and have never been able to get anyone to answer the phone either. If I don't hear back from my email, I'll try to call also. I'd probably pick up a ton of stuff from him if the prices were right since "anything not picked up is going to the electronics recyclers". We'll see.

You probably didn't hear back from him because he's still recovering from that belch at 0:52 icon_mrgreen.gif

  2. Like I said earlier, I would avoid using a credit card at all. Just go to the store (they even sell em at 7-11's where I live) and buy the Microsoft points on a prepaid card.

I could be wrong but I think cimerians is referring to Games on Demand which aren't bought with points.

I actually did buy one a couple years ago, Crackdown for like $19.99, I'm pretty sure I still had my credit card tied to the account when I bought it, so I'm not sure how it is handled if you do not.

Those on demand "deals" usually can be found in a bargain bin for less money anyhow. Personally, I just will continue to avoid keeping a CC# on file with Microsoft, until such a time that they prove to me it is a completely secure process. More important than that, I want Microsoft to act like they give a S#*t when someone hacks into our accounts. Until then, it's off to the store for me!!!

  3. I'm on silver now and am planning to get a gold card so I was wondering.

I'm also curious about buying games. I'm not sure if it forces you to enter a card number in to have on file to buy points or if you can just type your card info in every time. I'll have to check that tonight.

Like I said earlier, I would avoid using a credit card at all. Just go to the store (they even sell em at 7-11's where I live) and buy the Microsoft points on a prepaid card. This will ensure that even on the off chance someone hacks your account, they won't get squat!

There is no savings by using a credit card, other than the fact that you can purchase anything at will. For me, this is a bonus, as it keeps me from impulsively buying DLC I don't really need! Mainly, it will keep your $$$ safe and give you some peace of mind!

Not sure what to make of this issue or this guy. Seems they think it's fun to hack a Microsoft employee's account and prove it can be done.

    Should anyone be concerned?

Oh well, an interesting read no less.

Anyone know if credit card info is stored on Gold accounts?

I, personally, do not have any credit card information on file with Microsoft. I buy my Gold memberships and points when needed at the store. My reason for doing this is because Xbox accounts are seemingly easy to hack.

That said, if someone hacks you Xbox account, they will not get the actual credit card number, but they will be able to buy all sorts of Microsoft DLC on your dime. This will go on as long as it is not noticed, or until it hits your pre-determined limit (you can set this in your account settings on the Xbox website).

Case and point: one of my best friends had his account hacked about a month ago and he is still waiting for reimbursement from Microsoft. He will get his money back ($135), but it was a true pain in the butt. Also, to make matters even more infuriating, the person who hacked his account and STOLE HIS MONEY will not be prosecuted! icon_mad.gif The Microsoft rep said that they cannot do anything about this except ban that Xbox from the system. In hackers terms, this is less than a slap on the wrist, as they will just continue on, undeterred.

My suggestion to anyone using Xbox Live...stick to the store bought, prepaid cards. It will save you a ton of headaches in the end.

  5. I just purchased an untested Malagai eprom chip, and I am not having any luck getting it to work.

A couple of years back, I scored a homemade cartridge with an eprom socket which works great with the space invaders eprom it came with. Upon trying the Malagai chip, I am getting solid and/or vertical color bars on my screen. Is there anything I can do here? I have attached a photo of the eprom cart to show what I am talking about:

    Any help would be appreciated!

  6. I live in NJ, right near Digital Press, and I have to say that they are incredible when it comes to customer service. Once a month, they host a NAVA (North Atlantic Video-game Aficionados) meet-up, and allow gamers to show up and sell/trade whatever they want. This is a FREE service, and is designed specifically for the benefit of the collector's market.

I can speak only for myself, but this type of customer appreciation makes me loyal to Digital Press in a much more endearing way. I care about the store staying in business, much the way the owner (Joe) cares about the collectors and the hobby in general. I now will only buy my modern console games there, even if it means paying a little extra for the newer Xbox releases. I don't care about saving $5 or $10, if it means giving it to the loyal person. Game Stop, shows none of this type loyalty. They just want to keep me spending like the rest of us. Additionally, I always try to buy some of the classic gaming gems he has for sale. It has become a huge part of my collecting routine.

+1 to all the local classic gaming stores who actually "get it"!

  7. I posted this in the marketplace under the user feedback section regarding Yurkie's handiwork:

I received my refurbished and moded ColecoVision back yesterday and I would have posted the feedback sooner, but I was busy playing!!! icon_mrgreen.gifNormally, I would just write a typical feedback (fast shipping, good communication, etc.), but this purchase was different and I hope other ColecoVision owners read this:

Having the modifications done to my ColecoVision has enhanced my overall gaming experience with this console by 100%. In my opinion, these modifications are a MUST HAVE for the following reasons-

    • Enhanced picture quality and sound (RCA outputs)
    • More responsive controllers (refurbished and arcade sticks added)
    • Prolonged life expectancy (refurbishing and professional cleaning of wear parts)
    • Ability to pause a game! (added pause mod kit)
    • Faster game load time (BIOS skip mod)
    • Better mobility (straightened coil cords on controllers)

All in all, I can say that this is one of the best game related investments I have ever made. I stress that I consider it an investment, because it makes the system enjoyable in the ways I always dreamed it could be.

Previously, I always hated connecting using a coaxial converter from Radio Shack to bypass the need for an RF switch, as it did not have the picture or audio quality I wanted. The controllers never felt comfortable to me when playing and sometimes felt like a hinderance. As for the pause kit, BIOS skip and the refurb/cleaning...BONUS!!!!

Sorry if I am rambling, but I am VERY happy (i'd say ecstatic)with Yurkie's handiwork! Thank you so much for enhancing my ColecoVision experience!

  8. There are two River Patrol carts on eBay right now.

True but the other one is missing part of the end label

And it's in Spain. I always wanted one of these but, to be honest, I cant see spending that kind of money when the seller has only 16 eBay feedbacks. International scares me a bit as well, but that is just based on a couple of bad experiences I personally have had in the past. (not to mention the torn end label)

As for the re-listed copy in PA, the seller now has a reserve, and god knows what it is. I have no idea what this reserve could be, but I bet some good samaritan described River Patrol to the seller as "the holy grail of Atari" (which is somewhat true), so it probably is gonna be outlandish.

Bummer. I wish I could have seen this one just roll on naturally, but I can see it from the seller's perspective entirely. Having zero feedback will certainly keep me out of this one as well. Best of luck to you guys who are bidding. I hope someone here at AA gets it and at a fair price!

  10. There are some incredibly common games in this list I don't have, so if you want to get rid of some dupes, PM me:

    - Codebreaker

    - A Game of Concentration

    - Indy 500

    - Miniature Golf.

I'd also like repros of these two games, if that's OK:

    - Magicard

    - Video Life

Do you need them loose or CIB?

I have Indy 500, Miniature Golf loose for sure and I may have concentration (I have to check). All loose.
