Anti-Sidedealer caught sidedealing
bennybingo replied to nofrills100's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Dear Moderators: This thread seems out of place in the Marketplace section...I suggest that it be promptly re-routed to the nearest hamper so it can be with the rest of the dirty laundry! A friendly suggestion to the OP...it's time for PM's. -
PM'd on the Intellivision I in box.

I can't speak for nofrills, but I am definitely not joking about side dealing those rep points! Come on...make an offer! -

Anyone want to buy some rep points? I was going to just give them out to those who deserve them, but if you PM me, maybe I'll cut a side deal! -
I meet an engineer who used to work for Atari
bennybingo replied to SwampFox56's topic in Atari 5200
I heard that this same "Atari engineer" has an Atari 10400 prototype too! It's in mothballs in his attic. But don't get too excited...It's only a 7800 repackaged to sell to the 2600 fans. They did manage to update the controller problem a bit: -
So cool!! I always wanted someone to release that one as a repro. It would be really cool to try that with the JoyBoard!

Massive Atari collection for iPhone launches tonight
bennybingo replied to Flojomojo's topic in Atari 2600
I got mine last night and I would say it has been done vary nicely, but the controls are a bit difficult. I would say that this would be a total WIN on the iPad, as it has a much larger screen and can be attached to one of these: http://www.thinkgeek.com/electronics/retro-gaming/e762/ Not sure if the Atari app is compatible with the iPad or this cabinet, but if it is I would certainly buy it! -
Back when I was a kid, the NY/NJ television station WPIX (channel 11) had a contest for viewers. The contest consisted of viewers writing in to the station with their name, address and phone # on a postcard. These cards would be picked at random and the person chosen would get a phone call from the station (if I remember correctly, it was an after school thing from 3 to 5 pm). When they got the person on the phone, they would play an Intellivision game, live on TV! You would play games that only required a fire button and you would control this by shouting the word PIX each time you wanted to shoot. Winners who scored high enough would win prizes. It seems like they had this in other television markets as well: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TV_POWWW I always wanted to be on the show and win a T-Shirt or some cash!!! Does anyone else remember this?

That is cool as hell, but I will be very happy with Cebus Capucinis' night light version... http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/178777-monkey-labs-night-light-pre-order/page__p__2234408#entry2234408 That's if he gets enough interest, so please sign up!

Thanks. That's "only" 6 hours from me. I emailed him, but don't expect to hear back, honestly. I've tried emailing him orders in the past and never got a response, and have never been able to get anyone to answer the phone either. If I don't hear back from my email, I'll try to call also. I'd probably pick up a ton of stuff from him if the prices were right since "anything not picked up is going to the electronics recyclers". We'll see. You probably didn't hear back from him because he's still recovering from that belch at 0:52

I could be wrong but I think cimerians is referring to Games on Demand which aren't bought with points. I actually did buy one a couple years ago, Crackdown for like $19.99, I'm pretty sure I still had my credit card tied to the account when I bought it, so I'm not sure how it is handled if you do not. Those on demand "deals" usually can be found in a bargain bin for less money anyhow. Personally, I just will continue to avoid keeping a CC# on file with Microsoft, until such a time that they prove to me it is a completely secure process. More important than that, I want Microsoft to act like they give a S#*t when someone hacks into our accounts. Until then, it's off to the store for me!!!

Malagai eprom chip not working. Any suggestions?
bennybingo replied to bennybingo's topic in Atari 2600
It looks exactly like the space invaders chip I have and it fits in just the same. So how can I use this??? -
Like I said earlier, I would avoid using a credit card at all. Just go to the store (they even sell em at 7-11's where I live) and buy the Microsoft points on a prepaid card. This will ensure that even on the off chance someone hacks your account, they won't get squat! There is no savings by using a credit card, other than the fact that you can purchase anything at will. For me, this is a bonus, as it keeps me from impulsively buying DLC I don't really need! Mainly, it will keep your $$$ safe and give you some peace of mind!

Here is a top an bottom view: Thanks CPU! -
I, personally, do not have any credit card information on file with Microsoft. I buy my Gold memberships and points when needed at the store. My reason for doing this is because Xbox accounts are seemingly easy to hack. That said, if someone hacks you Xbox account, they will not get the actual credit card number, but they will be able to buy all sorts of Microsoft DLC on your dime. This will go on as long as it is not noticed, or until it hits your pre-determined limit (you can set this in your account settings on the Xbox website). Case and point: one of my best friends had his account hacked about a month ago and he is still waiting for reimbursement from Microsoft. He will get his money back ($135), but it was a true pain in the butt. Also, to make matters even more infuriating, the person who hacked his account and STOLE HIS MONEY will not be prosecuted! The Microsoft rep said that they cannot do anything about this except ban that Xbox from the system. In hackers terms, this is less than a slap on the wrist, as they will just continue on, undeterred. My suggestion to anyone using Xbox Live...stick to the store bought, prepaid cards. It will save you a ton of headaches in the end.

I just purchased an untested Malagai eprom chip, and I am not having any luck getting it to work. A couple of years back, I scored a homemade cartridge with an eprom socket which works great with the space invaders eprom it came with. Upon trying the Malagai chip, I am getting solid and/or vertical color bars on my screen. Is there anything I can do here? I have attached a photo of the eprom cart to show what I am talking about: Any help would be appreciated!

Local classic gaming store part 2.
bennybingo replied to HatefulGravey's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I live in NJ, right near Digital Press, and I have to say that they are incredible when it comes to customer service. Once a month, they host a NAVA (North Atlantic Video-game Aficionados) meet-up, and allow gamers to show up and sell/trade whatever they want. This is a FREE service, and is designed specifically for the benefit of the collector's market. http://www.digitpress.com/nava.htm I can speak only for myself, but this type of customer appreciation makes me loyal to Digital Press in a much more endearing way. I care about the store staying in business, much the way the owner (Joe) cares about the collectors and the hobby in general. I now will only buy my modern console games there, even if it means paying a little extra for the newer Xbox releases. I don't care about saving $5 or $10, if it means giving it to the loyal person. Game Stop, shows none of this type loyalty. They just want to keep me spending like the rest of us. Additionally, I always try to buy some of the classic gaming gems he has for sale. It has become a huge part of my collecting routine. +1 to all the local classic gaming stores who actually "get it"! -
What kind of glue should I use for detached labels?
bennybingo replied to Gorfy's topic in Atari 2600
Best results for me seem to be with a glue stick! -
I know it's a pain, but I have found that the best way to store the M-Network cartridges is with a storage rack: It seems to be the only way that has worked for me. Hope it helps!

ColecoVision System Refurbish with composite A/V mod
bennybingo replied to Yurkie's topic in ColecoVision / Adam
I posted this in the marketplace under the user feedback section regarding Yurkie's handiwork: I received my refurbished and moded ColecoVision back yesterday and I would have posted the feedback sooner, but I was busy playing!!! Normally, I would just write a typical feedback (fast shipping, good communication, etc.), but this purchase was different and I hope other ColecoVision owners read this: Having the modifications done to my ColecoVision has enhanced my overall gaming experience with this console by 100%. In my opinion, these modifications are a MUST HAVE for the following reasons- Enhanced picture quality and sound (RCA outputs) More responsive controllers (refurbished and arcade sticks added) Prolonged life expectancy (refurbishing and professional cleaning of wear parts) Ability to pause a game! (added pause mod kit) Faster game load time (BIOS skip mod) Better mobility (straightened coil cords on controllers) All in all, I can say that this is one of the best game related investments I have ever made. I stress that I consider it an investment, because it makes the system enjoyable in the ways I always dreamed it could be. Previously, I always hated connecting using a coaxial converter from Radio Shack to bypass the need for an RF switch, as it did not have the picture or audio quality I wanted. The controllers never felt comfortable to me when playing and sometimes felt like a hinderance. As for the pause kit, BIOS skip and the refurb/cleaning...BONUS!!!! Sorry if I am rambling, but I am VERY happy (i'd say ecstatic)with Yurkie's handiwork! Thank you so much for enhancing my ColecoVision experience! 0
