  1. On average, it is $50 for a boxed homebrew in the AA store. The game being discussed here is $60, and it comes with a gatefold box, manual and overlays. I am not sure how that could ever be misconstrued as "overpriced". IMHO, it has become evident that the OP is and was only looking for a free ROM….which he will be able to get for free once the game is released.
  2. The poll also forgot the following options: no, he should not be banned because it is all Shatner's fault! no, he should not be banned because it is all Bea Arthur's fault! no, he should not be banned because it is all Bacon's fault! no, he should not be banned because it is all Canada's fault! If Voltron would just add the above options, I would gladly vote!
  3. So, I see that the crux of your problem is that you only like games when they are free of charge. That said, I would have to guess that you have many things "piss you off" on a daily basis in life. I certainly don't work for free…I can't see why homebrewers should be any different.
  4. ^^ 100% agree ! ^^ I would also like to add one thought to those who have been bagging on kevincal's posting/polling choices…. For just a moment, please put yourself into his shoes. How would you feel if you visited AtariAge one day, and folks were running a thread which specifically targeted you? Personally, it would make me feel pretty shitty. Regardless of the anonymity which the internet provides…regardless of the fact that most of you are, and always will be strangers to me…regardless of the fact that none of what we do here has much bearing on our day to day lives. Regardless of all of that, it would still suck…pretty badly. This forum is my way of unwinding. It is also my home away from home, without having to leave the house (if that makes any sense ). I wish folks would think about such things, if only just for a moment, prior to creating threads like this. In the greater scheme of things, what exactly is the point to this kind of thread? To hurt someone's feelings? To make them go away? If that is the case, then I would say that some of you have far more idle time than kevincal. At least his polls don't aim to single anyone out, nor do they hurt anyone's feelings. They just happen to not be your cup of tea…such is life. Guys and gals…this isn't high school anymore. We are all entitled to carve out our own space here…and that means ALL of us. And now, a message from our sponsors Shatner... PS: just in case anyone was wondering, the above message from Shatner is directed at ALL of us. This is a forum dedicated to vintage video game systems…we aren't curing Cancer here folks.
  5. I clicked the like button for your post…not because you have had a rough go of it, but rather because you are unapologetic regarding your posting habits. For me, I come here as a release…not because I feel the need to post what any one person specifically wants or needs. I tend to enjoy posting pics of Shatner, Hello Kitty, Knight Rider and other nonsensical things…I full well know that there are as many folks who enjoy it, as there are the ones that hate it. Regardless, I have a good time of it and figure that anyone who doesn't enjoy my humor can easily click the ignore topic/user button at any time. I too, can use that function just as easily. It's a "Win-Win". as far as I am concerned. Personally, I don't really enjoy most of the polls on AA…from anyone. My reason is simple: most of them have been done a million times. That does not mean that I want them abolished…some members just signed up yesterday, and they may be enjoying the same things we were discussing three years ago. Who am I to tell them that they missed it three years back, so tough noggies? Typically, I just skim past the stuff that doesn't interest me…it's fairly simple enough to determine that from the subject line's message. I say, do whatever makes you happy…as long as it isn't malicious or nasty, post what the heck you want to post.
  6. …and I would add, there is an "ignore this topic" button at the top of every thread. Using that function beats the heck out of getting enraged. I rarely use that, but I am always interested in what others have to say. Sometimes I like it…sometimes I don't. I completely agree with your sentiment regarding activity on the forum. This place is great that way…lots of traffic…lots of topics to choose from. I can't see any problem with that myself.
  7. Philly does have a high crime rate. IMHO, I have no problem with having to provide a finger print in this case. I am a HUGE advocate for personal privacy and freedoms, but it really does not apply here. This is designed to make thieves less inclined to break into my house and raid my game collection for a quick buck. The same thing goes on when you want to sell anything at a reliable pawn shop…they make a copy of your driver's license at very least, but fingerprints are becoming more the norm. This way, if you are selling "hot" merchandise, the fingerprint can and will be used to prosecute the offender. I am OK with that.
  8. That said, if there weren't a collector's market, then there would be almost no new homebrews made at all, as there needs to be a viable market in order for folks to invest time and money into these projects. Some homebrews are better than others, but I think they have all been pretty darned good for the most part over the last few years. Personally, I can't even remember purchasing a homebrew game where I was bummed about it afterward. Not one. I think it all comes down to good old fashioned game preference. There are some homebrews which I like better than others, but it is only due to my own personal likes vs. dislikes…not due to the game's overall caliber or any gameplay issues. So, you can count me as a member who occupies the space between "the collectors floor & ceiling". I will continue to support the hobby and the programmers who go to great lengths in order to produce game releases like this one…and to those that don't agree with my sentiment, I say: you're welcome.
  9. AFAIK: To the best of my knowledge, this game was originally coded from scratch, destined to become a Smurf Rescue homebrew for the Intv. (There was never an official release version of Smurf Rescue released for the Intv.) Just prior to its' release, a C&D was issued over the Smurf trademarks, halting the sale of the Smurf Rescue homebrew project. The game was re-worked with the Sydney Hunter sprites, theme and artwork. (all of which had been created by the same homebrew team) Rather than just issue a refund, folks were given the option to roll their pre-orders over to Sydney Hunter, knowing what transpired. The vast majority of folks pre-ordered, happily opted for the Sydney Hunter game. The End.

  11. It sounds like Cracked for the 7800:
  12. He shipped me a bunch of 360 and PS3 games for the cost of shipping! All arrived safely and fast! Thank you again! Excellent person to work with throughout!
  13. Are video game "journalists" so strapped for interesting/new stories to write about these days? That dead horse has been beaten so many times, they need to just burry it in the landfill with the rest of the Atari carts…once and for all!
  14. I abstained from the vote, as you left out the obvious third choice...

  16. Though, it looks like the seller decided to glue the label on the edge where it meets the seam as well…at least that's what it looks like in those blurry pics!
