  1. I LOVE Worm Whomper but never had it as a kid - played that one when I got into collecting in like 1992. Demon Attack I had when it 1st came out and I absolutely loved it - the Mothership Graphics were awesome and who could ever forget that 1st voyage up to the Mothership. I went with Demon Attack by a ball hair over Worm Whomper. In 2nd grouping went w/Centipede - didn't play Super Cobra so not to familiar with that one.
  2. Oh yeah - forgot about the collapsing doors - its been a while. You have to time well or better yet use the "speed" potion from the wizard. And yes, this is a 2 player game - as 1 player all you can do is explore but you will NOT be able to get into the Dragon's Lair on 4th level without his destroy walls ability. If I'm wrong on this aspect, please correct me because it would be news to me. Anyone remember the 1st time they got down to final level 4 and read that 1st scroll that locked you in the room for the remainder of game - brilliant lol:-) One nice thing about game is they gave you 9 lives while needing 2 hits to die if I remember and wizard could heal you if he had that spell. Overall very nice 2-player game that allowed for 1 player exploration/mapping. I actually mapped out last 3 floors (1st one in manual) & then 1st got to the dragon with an old girlfriend playing role of wizard - insert jokes here:-)
  3. I agree cmart - can't wait for the podcast on golf/chip shot. I could be wrong because Chip Shot did come out like 4 years after WS Baseball, but I think it was ahead of its time big time. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong - I know NES had better graphics and probably several golf games, etc. but did it/they incorporate all the features of Chip Shot (different courses, designing own course, etc. )? If it wasn't ahead of its time, it was a damn good game for the inty that could compete against a next generation system. I wish I would've played this one more - in due time.
  4. cvga, I'm with you and only thing I can say is there are obviously a LOT of football fans and a LOT of golf fans and those games were excellent too. But Slam Dunk was no slouch by any means and I definitely enjoyed that one. But if you are a golf fan, which I am not, I could easily see Chip Shot winning this - that game added SO much as well.
  5. Vprette, yes thanks for all your efforts!! Please do not take offense to my comments as it is a mere suggestion to have a larger pool of games in 2nd round. The thought of Sea Battle or Tower of Doom not making 2nd round make me wanna cry lol:-)
  6. Maybe you take the top 25 which obviously go through and then add to that another 15-25 second/third place finishers based on # of votes to get yourself to a top 40 or 50. You are in essence going from 125 down to 50 or 40 in 1st round which I think makes sense and is a steep cut for Round 1. Being as passionate as we are and with the excellent library going to 25 on one swoop is to difficult and this gives great games a second chance.
  7. I was the opposite and loved all the poker games more so than Blackjack but we got both so everyone won there. Wow C64 strip poker - blast from the past - I asked for the C64 for Xmas but got a nice stereo instead. My cousins had that the C64 and we played that a lot:-) Would like to see on Inty one day?
  8. Not sure how many S&S posters out there - anyone got one? Also anyone have 1 for sale or trade? Was it definitely made? Glad poster said Tutankham not so good because I really have no clue on that one and went with Venture by default. I think it is my favorite of the Coleco games which I guess is the same as being the tallest midget:-)
  9. I'm with the consensus here - I knew how to play poker as a kid and being the pack in game with the dealer and a nice variety of games, this was an easy choice for me. My 2nd pick would have been horse racing which I did play a little with my cousins as a kid and had some fun with. Royal Dealer which I haven't played in ages would be a distant 3rd.
  10. Also went w/Venture in 2nd subset because think it is fun even though a little to easy. Admittedly though, I do not know too much about Tutankham so maybe I went wrong here.
  11. - Well put Fushek & Intvsteve! You are killing me with this one. I can't begin to tell you how much I love all 3 AD&D games (1 not included here I know) & Swords & Serpents. I eliminated S&S 1st only because of what I consider to be a flaw in ending of game - didn't do it as a kid but did it in like 1992 - mapped out all 4 levels and finally got to the big dragon using the "destroy walls" spell to get through 5 layers of wall only to find out that you could not slay dragon:-( My understanding was that there was not enough memory left to establish a true ending for the game - at least for me this was a big miss. That said anyone have an extra S&S Imagic poster please PM me:-) That left Tower of Doom which despite loving 1st time I got when came out, had to go with original AD&D as I "begged" for this game and played the hell out of it when I got home from school. Also just recently beat all 4 levels of this one within the last month.
  12. cmart - great minds think alike even though we cast a different vote in the end. I really never played SP Decathlon in decades so I couldn't consider it. I wish Slapshot was good as I am a HUGE Hockey Fan - I got this when it 1st came out and was very disappointed at how little was added to the game. They could've st least added a penalty shot "extra" feature like in World Cup Soccer - I mean very little. I think Slam Dunk, Chip Shot, & SP Football all excellent and ahead of their time but chose Slam Dunk in the end and I'm not even a basketball fan - just think that game was extremely well done and a LOT of fun. Chip Shot would be my 2nd choice even though I'm not a big golf fan and SP Football 3rd - was also very good and like the stats, etc. but took a while to play a full game.
  13. Played all 4 of these except Space Spartans because I was young and didn't read manual. Have to go back to Space Spartans and learn how to play. I enjoyed all of the other 3 but went with Bomb Squad over B-17 Bomber and then Tron Solar Sailor.
  14. If I got in 1980 as 1st game assume that was slow rom variant? Forgot all about the different rom variants.
  15. Not sure how will be done, but could be done by total vote support so that you may have only 1 going thru from 1 group and like 2 or 3 going thru from another really strong group.
  16. JasonLikesINTV, Loved how you worded your questions: "Inquiring minds want to know";-) Thanks Rev for quick answer - only thing is maybe a little sacrilage to sell on Easter Evening lol:-) Is game title Bunny Ranch Putana's by any chance:-)
  17. ditto cmart! I like Stampede but I loved Atlantis and think it is a very well done game - gotta love IMAGIC! In the subset I went with Mousetrap as best of the 3. Will admit I somehow managed to play DK & Carnival as a kid - one of the benefits of being like 9 instead of 12-15;-)
  18. I'll pay less than cmart, wolfy62, & Andre81;-) Would like T-cart but sure out of my price range:-(
  19. Intellfan - thanks for the video - much appreciated. Totally forgot about that or didn't get that far - it has been a while. dZ - believe concept is simple enough and no need to post 5+ times in every thread - you trying to get to 5,000 posts by Easter;-) I'm with wongojack again, while I played a lot of Astrosmash and still like it, I only got Dreadnought Factor in 1992 and was so impressed with it - great job on podcast - so I went with Dreadnought Factor.
  20. Soccer for me - it was my 1st game along with Space Battle in Xmas 1980. Lots of fond memories with this one!!
  21. cmart, how dare you not be a fan of soccer:-) I went with Pac-Man because I didn't have as a kid and only got in 1992 and was pretty impressed with the game/port. It was tough for me though as I like Dig Dug very much as well - would've been my 2nd choice. I really need to play locomotion one day - never really tried that one. Haven't played Q*bert or DK Jr. in a while but like 1st 2 I mentioned more.
  22. Went with Hockey as I had and played a lot of. Even without an opponent I would just see how many goals I could score in a period against computer goalie. Have to say that I love Skiing as well - very well done! And I used to play a lot of football as well back in day - to bad only 2-player game before SP Football came out many years later. All 3 were good.
