  1. Very good! I continued to watch this sprite because his legs seemed a little short than the torso, so I updated the proportions between arms / chest / legs and I cleaned up some details. I'd like to know if you like the result.
  2. LOL ...edit : "Kevin, here just an alternative for your Billy/Jimmy's head."
  3. Unfortunately, 'much' has happened in these years that have slowed down the development of this ambitious project. It pains me to remember it, but it is right not to forget : "Posted Wed Jun 25, 2014 7:18 PM Hi everyone, I saw some of the posts in the thread about 3.5 years... I am not going to get into anything with anyone. The timing of this unfortunately is not great. I am supposed to be sitting home today resting, relaxing and destressing before my 6th heart surgery tomorrow morning. ... ... Curt " http://atariage.com/forums/topic/226915-the-7800xm/
  4. "I sold 183 XMs in pre-order. I made a run of 500 plastics and nameplates. I don't think more than that will be sold. So there will plenty available. New orders will be taken once I ship all the pre orders. Plenty of notice will be posted ahead of time... A few weeks notice and this will give everyone a chance to get one." http://atariage.com/forums/topic/239315-atari-7800-pre-orders/?p=3256768

  6. "Okay, now for some fun stuff and this is really cool.... have a listen to this audio, this is a full blown example of the YM2151 Audio on the the XM: YM2151 AUDIO DEMO ON XM MODULE ------------------------ This sound sample was done with some code I'm working on for my Digdug sound upgrade. Groovybee was kind enough to help me test and debug it on his XM setup. The Pac-man sound data (notes and instruments) for the YM2151 where actually ripped from a music program that was released for the Sharp X68000 computer. (TEP392 on Atariage.)" ------------------------ http://www.atarimuse...7800/expansion/
  7. Fantastic work, Steve, Mike and Illya, thanks for sharing it! As a side note, I would just suggest to consider the real pixel aspect ratio so that, as far as possible, this beautiful graphics do not look wide on real hardware. Thanks again, guys!
  8. Funny changes. Thanks for sharing it! Read Me : "Welcome back to yet another CENTIPEDE hack CENTIPEDE REV ! Why so many hacks, nobody knows. Maybe it's because I once owned a sit-down CENTIPEDE arcade unit. It actually had a pause button on it. Not sure if that was a prototype, but probably was. Or I still have an arcade MILLIPEDE in my living room. Whatever it is, I took the chance and the time to figure out what makes the 7800 CENTIPEDE tick. And by now there's not much about the game that I don't know about. That allows me the liberty to do what I want when I want. We now know what PMI stands for so what's this REV stand for? REV = Reverse. Does the Centipede do a moon dance and go backwards? No. It's the mushroom growth is in reverse. Spawned from a way-before-after-dark Pac-man hack, where the screen started off blank and then you had to do something to light up the screen with graphics. Same thing here. The playfield starts off blank and then the Centipede zigzags across the screen. So you shoot randomly across the screen to locate where the mushrooms might reside. And 3 shots later that mushroom is gone, and so on and so on. The game actually gets much more interesting at over 300K points if you play that long. The Flea is very active filling the playfield with mushrooms. By then you're hooked and can't put your joystick down, or your trackball. Again thanks to Mr. Kenfused for his Trakball version, which is modified and included in this kit. The game was originally designed to have auto-fire invoked so you wouldn't have to hold the fire bottom down so much. But there were too many times that the timing required you to not have automatic firing. So I removed that feature. It's listed at the bottom of the included change list if you went to try it. The game is re-wired for invincibility as with time it's necessary to be invincible with all the Centipede activity at the bottom of the playfield. Hope you enjoy the CENTIPEDE REV game! Now I'll get back to PP3 debug. I sure hope it's something easy. I really want to get this game out there real soon. Blue Azure"
  9. ...exact, It is the final ROM : Astro Blaster (XM Enhanced)*
  10. The Lynx and Mega Drive sprites are almost Arcade perfect.
  11. Kevin, here just an alternative for Billy/Jimmy's head. Quick lunch break today.
  12. I would just add that, some time ago, I have devoted a couple of weekends to this screen (background in 160B 12 colors). I'm assuming that with only 120 (of 160) pixels perhaps there is sufficient MARIA time even for some sprites. I still have to refine some details.
  13. Great work, Kevin and thanks, Robert. Kevin refers to my 'little' sprite that I have derived quickly from my 'highest' sprite (which is a conversion from NES to 7800). Honestly, I do not like that 'little' sprite (initially, I did not want to share it), I would have preferred to draw it from scratch but I was too distracted to think about some sprites in 160B mode... I have updated that 'little' sprite now.
  14. "Posted Tue Sep 15, 2015 7:37 PM This year's Portland Retro Gaming Expo takes place October 17th and 18th at the Oregon Convention Center. The Portland Retro Gaming Expo (PRGE) is one of the largest classic gaming events in the country, and here are some of the highlights you can expect from this year's show: ... ...We'll have limited quantities of games at the show, so be sure to come by our booth on Saturday to make sure you get the games you want! We'll also be demoing a 7800 Expansion Module (XM) unit with several XM-ready games for you to try out! ..." http://atariage.com/forums/topic/242779-portland-retro-gaming-expo-october-17th-and-18th/

  16. Awesome PCB, Panos! And amazing improvement as always, Kevin! I would confirm my preference for two boards (for the two games), therefore I also prepared two labels in case you like them. For coherence I have used the Kevin's Double Dragon label (Color Edit), I love her.
  17. A delicate operation in the sense of work that must be done with finesse, attention, accuracy...but of course it depends on the result you want to achieve. I have spent many hours playing with geometry.
  18. ..adjust the geometry of a CRT TV is a delicate operation and even with the electronic controls the margin of adjustment is very limited. Certainly the Arcade monitors are more versatile even if not exactly a plug and play solution for a home system... Among other, I also have a Sony 20-inch CRT monitor (MultiSync) but, regardless, I really prefer to preserve the NES pixel aspect ratio in his native value (1.14 - 5.37 MHz on NTSC).
  19. Obviously, I was referring to NES real hardware on classic 'analog' cathode ray tube television (you talked about 'overscan area' previously ...). Frankly, digital video processing on classical systems does not make much sense to me.
  20. It is not a small adjustment. At best, It would get a geometry compromised.
  21. Not exactly, I used some Nestopia screenshots but the NES with 256 horizontal pixels by 240 vertical pixels display wide pixels and therefore wide sprites/tiles compared to arcade graphics (or 7800 320 mode). Same goes for ColecoVision, Sega Master System, CoCo 3, etc., for these systems the pixel aspect ratio is approximately 1.2 NTSC and 1.4 PAL. Only the 7800 320 mode shows square pixels (pixel aspect ratio: 0.9 NTSC and 1.0 PAL) and can replicate the correct aspect ratio of the arcade graphics. 7800 Galaga is made in 160 mode (1.7 NTSC pixel aspect ratio ).
  22. About TIA, I would just add that this '1977 Atari 2600 sound' can really to surprise:
