Actually, this question has an answer: PC Engine SuperGrafx
CPU: 8-bit HuC6280A, a modified 65SC02 running at 1.79, or 7.16 MHz (switchable by software).
GPU: A multiple graphics processor setup. One 16-bit HuC6260 Video Color Encoder (VCE), two 16-bit HuC6270A Video Display Controllers (VDCs), and one HuC6202 Video Priority Controller.
This is problematic.

"The 320C mode can be used to combine a two-color 320-dot background with four-color-plus-transparent shapes using two color sets. The foreground shapes will require double DMA bandwidth; because of some annoying quirks in transparency logic, it's possible to make half of a double-pixel be the background color and have the whole double-pixel be opaque, but making the whole double-pixel the background color will make it transparent.
The 320B mode is reasonably nice when using Kangaroo mode, but works very poorly in non-Kangaroo mode." -
I've also been trying to wrap my head around how he got the 3rd color with transparency in 320B mode (so I can apply it to my Pac-Man 320 games - or other games in the future), but I just can't get it.
Bob,
please take a look at One on One Basketball.
Thank you.

With some extra effort, the Atari version could easily have been done in 160x200 mode - some more programming effort would be needed and it would probably have made it exceed the 16K ROM size.
I agree. Here is a little example:

The curvature of the monitor makes it look real as in off a crt. So dish, is that from an XM?
I try to guess, emulated via MESS.
Trebor is a true specialist with the emulation.

Anyhow, back to a 320 Mode Thexder - PC CGA mode doesn't look too shabby. True, Tandy 16-color & MCGA look better, but the 4 colors only is no sloutch:
A different four colors could be chosen, but you get the idea

Tandy -> 7800 320 Mode

But id much rather have gradius..hell give me Rtype.
I love R-Type. Thinking about 7800 XM, the recent conversion for Amstrad CPC is impressive.
-
Awesome...can't wait to get mine!

Maybe this wikipedia page should be updated.
I wonder if the talented PacManPlus still considers that it is significantly harder to develop a title such as Bentley Bear Crystal Quest.

Intellivision has the superior "Masters of the Universe - The Power of He-man" over the 2600, but ColecoVision should have been the victor.
Would love to see this
leakedreleased someday.Wow, absolutely fantastic. I did not know this unreleased version.
Thanks for the link!

Thanks Trebor!
There should be an award given for most helpful AA member. Trebor would win by a mile

Bob
Yes, absolutely! Thanks Trebor!

XM could become a "standard" of sorts in terms of support with XM POKEY, XM 128K, XM YM2151, and XM HSC designations.
...and also with Keyboard Expansion Port and Atari SIO compatible peripheral port.

- Two button auto-select added (Warp is 'Down' with a CX-40, and the second button with a ProLine)
Thanks again!

Thank you Bob. You continue to leave us all wordless!!

Fantastic work and good choice, this port is a great exclusive for 7800. And I love the 320 mode.
Happy Holidays!

After seeing Marco's inspiring handywork I had to contribute my own mockup.

Remember this is just a mockup.. so don't go feeding this into any Atari 7800 mockups -> Instant Money Machine or it could implode the universe... please... program responsably.

Pop VGA to 7800 320b mode comparison.PNGillya
Illya, you did a good work with the grout bricks!
(When I reduced from 6 to 4 colors I was not fully satisfied with the result of the grout)
I gave it another look, I reduced some light sources and changed a bit palette.
I hope you like it.

Which console is better? Atari or NES?

"In 2009, the Nintendo Entertainment System was named the single greatest video game console in history by IGN, out of a field of 25.[11] "
"The Atari 2600 was inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame at The Strong in Rochester, New York in 2007. In 2009, the Atari 2600 was named the second greatest video game console of all time by IGN, who cited its remarkable role as the console behind both the first video game boom and the video game crash of 1983, and called it "the console that our entire industry is built upon."[36] "
Atari VCS is my favorite.
