the future of Super Giuseppe Bros.
timdu commented on atari2600land's blog entry in atari2600land's Blog
I hope you decided to keep working on it. Maybe take break from it for awhile? Amazing that you can do all this in 2K! I don't think it will be a problem if it is not a long game. Did you get the sketch I sent you that was an O2 tribute to Donkey Kong? Would you have the room make this screen possibly the final boss screen in Super Giuseppe Bros. for Odyssey^2 ? Just a suggestion... Giuseppe could be the bottom character... Fido (the enemy) is at the top and he has captured Princess Pomegranate would you have enough memory to add it? It would kinda be a cool tribute to DONKEY KONG.... -
Chris R (atari2600land) and I are getting ready to release GoSub in cartridge form for the Odyssey 2. We would like to have a label contest. Winner will receive a free game of GoSub. here are the measurements: The square space on the cartridge is 70 x 70 mm. (or 2.754 inch) on both the Odyssey and Videopac cartridges I measured. The label itself is slightly smaller: Odyssey2 label (Blockout) 68.6 mm or 2.700 inch square Videopac label (Race +1) 69.5 mm or 2.737 inch square please send your entries in a private message to timdu and also send it to atari2600land We will pick a winning entry on Wednesday August 1. Good luck! Tim

Can you tell me about the hardware that allows you to play the binaries on a real O2? where can I buy it? Is it something available for sale from someone on the videopac.nl web forum? I may be interested in it. For $100 I could play all my O2 binaries that I have for the emulator... and all the new homebrew games being made for the system. Tim

The nice thing about the laminated boxes is that they will never tear or rip or crease. Never really thought about that until Brad brought that to my attention. You can take the game out and put it back in a thousand times and the the box is going to endure the handling. It will also endure water (or coffee or any spilled drink for that matter.) So I see the advantages. I have spoken to Brad about a non-laminated version of his boxes and then putting one of those clear plastic "keep 'em minty" cases around the box. Have you seen those? Then the problem is it becomes more of a collector's showpiece though. You have to open the keep 'em minty case and then take out the box and then open up the box and then get the game. So I can see both sides of the argument here. I guess it comes down to personal preference. I never really placed a high priority on the boxes, but now I see the value in them. They are neat, especially if you display your collection of Atari 2600 games on a bookshelf for example... Tim -

Chris - As you know, I'm a big O2 fan. I'd love to see GoSub released for the O2. Please continue! Perhaps you can try posting your assembly language question(s) here on AtariAge under one of the Programming forums? Even if you made GoSub without the octopus, I'd still buy it. I think it looks great so far. As for your videos, why not look into placing your videos on a site other than youtube. I can't recall but I think yahoo and msn offer free video hosting. I am sure there are others that try to copy and rival what youtube is doing. DON'T LET THE TURKEYS DRAG YOU DOWN! -Tim

I am setting a goal of having everything ready and to accept payments and ship ALIEN GREED 4 on Friday, June 1, 2012. I have the boxes (picture posted above) completed and now the cartridges have been completed Here is a picture of all 50: So what I left to do is complete the manual and a few special pack-in items. Time for me to get back to work on this... -Tim -
I am glad you are enjoying the book. I think the spiral binding is great. It makes it really nice when you need to open to the pages of say the PITFALL solution.... it's right there in a nice, neat, orderly fashion. You can put it right next to your 2600 system and solve the game! thanks again - Tim

Progress is being made. The boxes are completed. All 40 of them. Take a look at these pics. There's still time to get a boxed copy. I have 4 spots left on the reservation list. Send me a PM if you are interested in one. Oh, and #41 - 50 are loose, numbered cartridges being sold without the box.... -Tim -
Oops! I should edit that list of Atari's games in issue 2 of the 2600 Connection. That newsletter was printed in 1990 so the list needs to be updated. I'll add another item on my TO DO list. -Tim

I would love to see Kaboom for the O2 and I just tried it on the O2EM emulator and I think you are off to a good start. You would have to change the name though, right? Ka-blam! or Ka-pow! or Ba-boom!
