  1. Boy, this was fast. http://www.shootfortheedit.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2304 Last night at dinner I was having dinner with three blu-ray owners, they were pissed about no Transformers Blu-ray and I drank the kool aid hook line and sinker. So at 1:30 in the morning I posted - nothing good ever comes out of early am posts mind you - I over reacted. I heard where Paramount is coming from and the future of HD and players that will be close to the $200 mark which is the magic number. I like what I heard. As a director, I'm all about people seeing films in the best quality possible, and I saw and heard firsthand people upset about a corporate decision. So today I saw 300 on HD, it rocks! So I think I might be back on to do Transformers 2! Michael Bay And 300 does "rock!" I really enjoyed the pip.
  2. I really can't believe this happened! Those scum at Toshiba and M$. Who do they think they are using a Sony tactic against the almighty Sony corporation? roflmao hahahahaha Where might this buzz be originating? bluray.com?
  3. Power DVD 6.5 or 7.2 will work. Yes it will work with CD's and DVD's. Keep in mind you will need a pretty good PC to watch HD-DVD's.
  4. If you like FPS's, Fear is a must have. It is gonna strain the hell out of your video card though. The expansion pack is good also but really nothing new. I can also highly recommend Half Life 2, and episode 1, and you DO NOT need to be online while playing it. You need to be online when you install it. Your Steam account will be saved to your computer, unless you opt not to have it saved, and then if you start the game offline it will ask you if you want to start in offline mode. Even if you purchase your game from Steam online and download it, you can still play offline The only people that complain about Steam anymore are those with dial up and since you stated you have DSL you won't have any problems. BTW, you probably don't know this but Steam is Valve's copy protection and online store that was previously mentioned. Far Cry is a must have. SIN Episodes: Emergence is pretty cool for the price and you get the original SIN with it. If you like fighting it out online Red Orchestra Ostfront 41-45 is really good. It's an online WWII game that is very realistic and tends to have a more mature crowd playing it. If you're into strategy you have to get Medievel II :Total War and the second Battle for Middle Earth is supposed to be pretty good, though I've never played it. Racing sims You need GTR2. GT Legends is pretty good also and I've been playing a lot of Xpand Rally lately. Xpand is sort of a bit arcadey but for $20 you can't beat it. another sim I haven't been able to put down in years is Silent Hunter III. A WWII U-Boat sim. I'm not much into RPG's but I had a lot of fun with Vampires The Masquerade Bloodlines. Its a little buggy and unfinished but nothing that takes away from the game play.
  5. But any chance is the perfect time to bitch about Sony But while I wasted time in this thread already, I may as well say..... I must be the only one who can't wait for medialess game system. There already is a medialess game system. It's called a PC. I do agree with going medialess. I don't need or want all this silly packaging sitting around the house. I try to buy all my games from Steam and direct 2 drive.
  6. You say that as though it's a bad thing No No transgenders need love too.
  7. Starscream is also a transgender fanboy.
  8. Are you trying to think of the Neo Hyper 64? Also concerning the Neo as a failure.....People here aren't realizing that system did very well in the Asian market. You can still walk in used game stores over there and see plenty of Neo home carts. In the USA its an oddity to see that.
  9. You mean like TGFX16 or Saturn? I mentioned the Turbografx-16, actually. You're saying that it's the middle of the road system of its generation? Dude, it wasn't even really 16-bit, and the games reflected that fact. JR Yeah like Dracula X. Really garbage graphics Actually, yeah. There was nothing in Dracula X that couldn't have been replicated on the Sega Genesis. I know because I played this supposed "killer app," took snapshots of it in action, then used a graphic editor to count the number of colors used at once. Wasn't anything near the system's 256 color limit. If anyone tells you that Dracula X is the best game in the Castlevania series, don't you believe it. Through the years, the game's qualities have been increasingly exaggerated, leaving it with a reputation it can't possibly live up to. Is it good? Yes. Is it the best of the arcade-style Castlevanias? Perhaps, depending on what you thought of the X68000 version (also released for the original Playstation as Castlevania Chronicles). However, there's no way it's as good as the Metroid-inspired adventures on the Playstation, Game Boy Advance, and DS. The graphics aren't as detailed, the sound isn't as atmospheric (it's surprisingly cheap and tinny for redbook audio... what gives, Konami?), and the levels aren't anywhere near as deep. There are a couple of branches in each stage, along with some hidden rooms, but there's very little freedom to explore in comparison to Symphony of the Night and its progeny. There you have it. Dracula X: Rondell Sheridan of Blood isn't all that. So stop rolling those eyes at me or I'll go all Curly on you and poke them! JR No doubt Castlevania Chronicles is a better game, and I'm sure the GBA and DS versions are all excellent games in the series. But you said "Dude, it wasn't even really 16-bit, and the games reflected that fact." Now you are comparing an 8 bit game to the 32 bit Playstation version.
  10. You mean like TGFX16 or Saturn? I mentioned the Turbografx-16, actually. You're saying that it's the middle of the road system of its generation? Dude, it wasn't even really 16-bit, and the games reflected that fact. JR Yeah like Dracula X. Really garbage graphics
  11. His xbox might not even have a chip. I've seen soft mods go into cycles like he mentions. Starscream'll get him sorted out though.
  12. How were you playing Doom 3 on the Xbox on March 27th? Wellllll, the internet seems to get all the early releases. I'm assuming anyhow. I don't even know what the official release date of Doom 3 was, or is.
  13. I used to despise playing games on a PC. Mainly for the reason already stated, getting the games to run properly and I am not very good playing with a keyboard. (or a controller for that matter) I fairly recently did buy a new top end PC and thought I'd give PC gaming another try since I got my new system about the exact same time as Half Life 2 was released. That game totally blew me away. I ended up going out and getting quite a few PC games and decided to upgrade to a Leadtek 6800 GT and a sound blaster Audigy 2ZS. I now play games as much if not more on my PC compared to consoles. I haven't had a single problem getting any games to work (keeping my fingers crossed though) The console versions of games seem to sometimes come across to me as cheap ports now, but in all fairness I do have more money in my video card than I have in any console. I played Doom 3 on the xbox for a while last night and that will probably be the last time I play it on there as it doesn't even come close to the PC version.
  14. I just wanted to add a correction to what I had said earlier in this thread. The built in DVD player in Avalaunch and XBMC will play DVD movies in progressive scan, so they can be watched using a transcoder on a computer monitor. The stock MS DVD player and DVDX2 will not display.
  15. how about seeing the dashboard screens on the xbox? i've heard that in some cases you have to do it blind. i'm using a ver1 xbox with an evo dashboard. as far as the audio i plan to keep on going with the red and white RCAs thru my stereo, this monitor is going to be dedicated to gaming, no PC involved. The MS dash will display in 480P if you hold in both triggers and click in both thumb sticks. Do it again and it'll revert back to 480i. If your MS dash doesn't switch to 480P then you need to update it. Avalaunch, Evox, and UnleashX will display in high def so no problems there. In fact the only dash I think I ever tried that wouldn't display was UIX. DVDx2 doesn't display, but then again you can't watch movies that way anyhow like I said, and xsnesx9 won't display.
  16. I have the Vdigi transcoder. I have no complaints at all with it and I can recommend it for you. The nice thing about the Vdigi besides it being a true transcoder is that it can run any progressive scan device you hook up to it, not just an XBox. One thing to remember though since you mentioned running a NGC and a PS2 on it, is that the game must be coded for progressive scan. That won't be a problem with any Xbox games afaik, but I'm not sure if all of the PS2 and Gamecube games are in HD. Also, don't plan on watching any movies through an XBox using it. The XBox only outputs DVD movies in 480i. You'll need a progressive scan DVD player if you want to do that. Another nice thing, if you happen to have a modded XBox, is that Most all of the emulators support HD, so you can play all of your old favorites in HD and they do look better. I'm sure you read this at the Vdigi site, but you get the component hook up for the XBox with it and an adapter to run the audio to your computer speakers. They will ship it via registered airmail. It took about a week and a half for mine to arrive in Ohio.
  17. Thanks! I beat the mermaid boss yesterday she was fairly easy actually, but I missed a door in the Grotto that you need a magician to dispell. I'm assuming you can back through any level at any point in the game, right? I liked that right after that you got the mirror image characters to play with. I've tried to be pretty thorough but I'm sure I've missed alot as I've only gotten 2 totems for each character... oh well with my anal retentive attitude towards 100% completion of any game I play, I'm sure I'll go back through once I've beaten it. Knowing you, you've probably beat the game twice by now, but in case you haven't. After you do an escort mission with Elco, you won't be allowed back into Illumina castle. You can back track every where else.
  18. That could be very possible, but... that would still be very costly having their print shop run off only 25 manuals, inserts, and stickers. Nobody will ever know the real story behind this. Believe me I have been in many a debate about it. It just all adds to the Neo Geo drama.
  19. It depends on the condition and if you collect english or JP carts. I'm hoping to break 10 grand on selling my homecarts off and my collection was no where near complete. as for the only 5 in existance......... Of course there were more made. There are only 5 known "authentic" copies within the Neo community. The Euro version only had a limited release in Austria and maybe some other European countries. I'm sure there are more sitting in peoples closets. Plus it was not a good selling game back then. It was released the same year as Metal Slug and of course most people bought MS. Also SNK would ship games from one country to another if needed and would replace the manual and the sticker on the cart. Many of the Euro Kizuna COULD have been made into JP versions. EDIT........ze_ro makes some valid points to and like he said SNK won't release production numbers. probably because they were so screwed up business wise they just probably don't know the numbers, and of course SNK's right hand never knew what the left hand was doing.
  20. Hmmm, I think in any case there are more civil ways of talking to people. yes there are more civil ways of talking to people, but my point was and is if he had put half the effort into getting his X Box fixed that he put into his longwinded 100 word essays complaining about it, it would have been up and running a long time ago. Sometimes you gotta just call them like you see them, and it was not a personal attack on the guy himself, it was directed towards the way he was acting about the situation. End of story for me.
  21. Yea you wanna talk about stupid Neo collectors. I not only collected US carts but I also collect complete MVS kits. Think of the cash I got wrapped up in my collection But I have seen the light and am tired of all the bullshit that goes with the homecart collecting. I'm on my way to being MVS only. I also think eventually the bottom will fall out on the Neo home scene, luckily for me people are in a buying mood now that Playmore is switching to Atomiswave.
  22. Probably a lot less than that. You just need a good print shop for the manual and insert. Problem is you'd need to see the original manual to copy it.
  23. On my way to work and just browsed over this. I didn't call you a bitch, I said quit whining like one. Shit breaks. It happens on all the systems. Plus you should be able to call microsoft, purchase the extended warranty, then send it in to get repaired.
