  1. Altirra 3.2 Test 27 with simulated bi-cubic filtering, bloom and scanlines on the left vs. Retro Arch 1.7.5 with "crt-royale-ntsc-320px-composite.cgp" CG shader preset on the right on a 4K screen. Much as I love Altirra and respect its accuracy and attention to detail, the pic on the right still looks more like the real thing, thanks to the 14 pass, complex shader. Certain effects, such as shadowmask, are nearly impossible to accurately simulate without complex pixel shaders. I know emulators such as SNES 9x support retro arch shaders, would be nice if Altirra did too one day, this would make it the uncontested king of Atari emulation.
  2. I love Altirra and I know it’s the most accurate one out there - but until it supports retroarch shaders such as crt-royale it’s a no-go for me - as the CRT effect is just too good to pass up
  3. Sounds fine to me - the track that you hear in the video was recorded using Retro Arch
  4. Ok, I’ve been shamed enough - 4K footage of Bruce Lee has now been uploaded and Linked in the description of the original video. With original sounds too
  5. Yeah I can't believe I missed Bruce Lee - one of my all time favorites. I know I had the footage, must have missed it at the compositing stage. As for using the original sounds - it's a question of preference, while I enjoy the original game sounds, I find that medleys comprised of short 6-8 second clips tend to sound cacophonous. Besides the soundtracks used in the video are some of the best Atari scene has to offer
  6. Holy crap - I did not expect to see so many replies - I know i am late to the party but I completely forgot I posted this here thanks to to everyone who responded - let me start of by saying that Bruce Lee was missed by mistake - it is indeed one of my favourites and was only omitted through my negligence, the video was captured using retro arch, Atari800 core and a variation of crt-royale shader on an i7-8700 with GeForce 1070
  7. Posted my top 100 Atari 8-bit games video on YouTube in 1080p, with CRT screen emulation through CRT-royale shader https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mq6PZJAusFY&t=3s
  8. Funny, I actually changed it because someone complained that too dark was unrealistic.... I could make it configurable. Carving out a place to put the setting is the trickiest part. Avery - I know it's been a while and that you've been very busy. But could I ask that you revisit the scanline darkness setting if you find the time ? If you could provide the option to adjust their darkness, or revert to the pre 2.6 setting it would be awesome. Thanks so much in advance!
  9. 9 levels - 9th level repeats infinitely. Levels 5-9 are the same, with the only difference being darkness starting earlier into the level. Level 9 is completely dark and must be beaten by memory (at until you find the torch). This is a TV screenshot of me finally beating Level 9 on real hardware without saves/cheats a couple of years back.
  10. Level 3 has both sides of the pyramid open, but passages between them are mostly blocked. Just wanted to see if it can be done - it is surprisingly challenging, but still did it with a score of 109,750 (on Altirra). See if you can get a higher score
  11. Never liked StarvRaiders so I guess did not get around to it yet - it will be added eventually
  12. Milestone achieved - 1,000 games in the database ))
  13. Woo Hoo - just got mine in the mail today ! Loaded the entire GoodSet, and having a blast reminiscing ! Thanks so much for creating this wonderful piece of hardware !
  14. Funny, I actually changed it because someone complained that too dark was unrealistic.... I could make it configurable. Carving out a place to put the setting is the trickiest part. ------- Thanks Avery - it would be great if you made it configurable - I can assure you that old scanlines look identical too the picture on 27"+ CRT
  15. Avery - first of all - thank you very much for this wonderful emulator - Altirra is truly amazing and is near perfect !!!! There is only one minor gripe that prevents me from using any versions newer than 2.6 test 12 - scanline emulation. Scanlines were perfectly emulated up until Altirra 2.6 as sharp visible lines, but in later versions they became blurry and generic and look nothing like the real CRT (when compared to picture on my Sony WEGA 27") Please see the attached screenshot for comparison. Just curious - would it be possible to bring back the old scanlines or have an option to switch ? Once again , thank you very much for all your hard work !
