  1. Whats the backstory with the AVP box variants you have up?
  2. As much as I really like GTA4, I was surprised at some of the reviews claiming it was the best game ever created...cmon now. Id say that the buddy system helped Bioshock get such rave reviews also. That game was mediocre at best. Alice is also taking a critical beating...but yet Im really lovin that game. Its beutiful and ugly at the same time.
  3. Well, yes and no. I can name several "classic" first person shooters where there is no "perfecting" your approach. You pop your head around a corner and it's blown off before you can do anything thanks to razor-sharp sniper-like AI (*cough* Blood *cough*). Personally, I get annoyed when I have to resort to save states to complete a FPS, especially when it's due to a game being cheap and unforgiving with poor AI or a lack of health packs. Wierd you mentioned blood; you might be the only person Ive ever came across that has played it. I have it on my PC and still play it occasionally...awsome game. Im surprised it hasnt been remade or atleast released on XBLA.
  4. Name me one oldschool FPS that limits you to two guns & has regenerating health. Re-read my post there sport Okay. Now explain how it's oldschool. Play the multiplayer and then tell me how it isnt, how about that? The point about two weapons is #1 Stupid, and #2 Mute. There are so many weapons scattered through the game you can pretty much change out whenever you want any how. Additionally, you also have can carry trip mines and explosives so in reality you can carry four weapons.

  6. i dont think they take PS2 stuff on trade now, it looked like they were liquidating everything when i was in there last.
  7. Wow, I'd never played Dark Chamber before, I remember the title screen but after a go I have to say its a lovely Gauntlet clone, knocks spots of the 'official' version. Cheers for mentioning it Skarrj Must have a look at the 5200 Centipede, seems to be getting 'bigged up' on here... You might like "into the eagles nest" also. Its pretty pricey for the official cart though
  8. GRAW GRAW2 had dodge ads all through the game
  9. Ill be honest, I get pissed when I play connect bowling and I get that stupid pink T-mobile bowling ball.
  10. With the kinds of reviews people seem to be giving it all over the place, it may indeed be 30+ years before we see another Duke Nukem. The people that do seem to like it well enough seem to stress to play the PC version instead of the consoles tho. Apparently load times are a LOT higher on the consoles. It depends on what difficulty you chose..lower difficulty seems to be lower load time. The load times wouldnt bother me if it was just one time, but it reloads every single time you die. Still, this will go down as the most underated game of all time. I really think these reviews are based on anymosity. The load times and the character models are the only things I see that could have been done better. I dont understand the complaints with the graphics, they are pretty much on par with LFD or better and no one seemed trash that game for graphics.
  11. Yo, Im down for some LFD2 boosting. I still need that f'n bridge achievment. Even after I kill off my teammates I still get jacked up crossing the bridge, usually by the fleaman zombie (jockey)
  12. Thats the only con Ive found with this set. Im gonna have to try to find the fallout NV box set now
  13. Get it, but get the version that comes with the classic controller. I personnaly hate the motion controls on this game and for me plays so much better with dual analog sticks. The multiplayer is one of the best you will play on the will, and does have some grinding/unlocking elements from COD. Once you get some play time in, multiplayer really starts to be fun. The only real thing that sux is a lack of communication, however most of the teams ive been on worked well regardless of not being able to talk to each other. If anyone wants to team up for some TDM, pm me so we can work out some game times.
  14. what are we missing IDK, aside from Cent/mil barely looking different than the 2600 port? When I see pacman/mspacman running on the 8-bit, I have to think cent/mil could have looked a hell of alot better. Dandy>Gauntlet And I like dark chambers better also
  15. I think I got this one, as well as the one in Half Life 2 where you had to launch the gnome at the end of the game, which ment you had to carry him the whole way. Not an easy feat especially since you couldn't actually hold him while driving a vehicle. I just kept trying to jam him into the rear window...sometimes he would stay in for a while. He absolutely would not stay in the back seat
  16. High praise indeed! I think when I do snag a copy, I want to get the BOS edition as well. Love the collectors editions. Does anyone already have it, and if so, what is their opinion of the swag that it comes with? I picked it up last night, it comes with quite a bit of stuff. The statue is typical of what youd expect, comes with an artbook detailing the progress, a big decal, dice, pokerchips, the playing cards were dissapointing ( I was under the impression they were full size), and few other things i never opened( I think it may be postcards).
  17. I kept losing him in the stadium, explosions would send him flying into nothingness and Id have to restart the level.
  18. No, What puzzles were in Duke Nukem 3D?? Finding the key cards wouldn't be considered a puzzle in my book. I honestly can't think of any puzzles which is odd since I just played through the game (for like the 5th time) when it was released on Live. Do you mean like pulling levers to detonate buildings? Is that the kind of puzzles that are in this new version? If so, no biggie if only because they were so simple. That Live version of DN3D included multi-player as well! Very cool even I didn't play it too much. Although once again, seems like yet another mundane modern FPS tack on. i was talking about all the stupid little switches, some of them had to be set in a certain order, ledges went up and down, walls moved, you had to backtrack 8 times to collect 4 different color keycards. Im not trashin that, Im just saying everyone that critiques the new gae seem to have forgotten some of the more tedius moments from 14 D3D. IDK, Im certainly having more fun with this one that I ever had with D3D.
  19. Hard to say. Maybe with similar gameplay to the original game, but highly updated graphics, and a killer story line would have invoked a sense of nostalgia. I know making the game more like a more modern FPS right after making fun of modern FPS is kind of...I dunno, what would you call it? lame? I'm not dismissing the game by any means. I've seen videos of the shooting parts of this game and think it looks awesome! Unfortunately another thing the bad reviews are saying is they throw in a bunch of other goofy things in between the shooting that break up the fun-ness of the game (goofy puzzles, lame driving sequences etc...) I'm like you in that I tend to enjoy goofy oddities thrown into games. As long as they are fun, I'm all for it, but at the same time I could see how they would be distracting in a DukeNuke Em game. Still, I'll be playing this game soon and since I bought and played through (yet again) the Live Arcade DukeNuke Em 3D recently, I'll be able to compare the two fairly well. Well, the game is pretty f'n awsome so far. Combat is typical oldschool fps and I actually like the two weapon system and regen health, I think it works well. I kinda dig the drivng missions also, as well as all the little mini games..they lead to a nice distraction. Graphics are nowhere close to being as bad as the reviewers claim, with the exception of character models; yea, they do look pretty dated. Reviewers also seem to be completely leaving out multiplayer. Multiplyer is pretty solid, feels alot like quake arena wich is pretty much what I expected. I think the maps are well made and pretty balanced as long as there are more than a handful of players in the room. I really like that matchmaking is just like the golden age of FPS's. You can pick and chose what rooms you want to join just like quake/unreal. Capture the "flag" is pretty fun as you actually capture the enemies babe. One interesting thing I noticed is if you are running with the babe and get hit with the shrin ray...you get squashed. Does anyone, reviewers included remember all the mudane stupid puzzles and tedious backtracking just to collect those keycards etc in Duke 3D? I swear I must be playing a different game than everybody else because I really could give this game an 8.5 out of ten.
  20. I gotta say, Centepede/Millipede and guantlet ports are pretty wretchid.
  21. What is the status with the unpaid pre-orders? Some of us have inquired about taking over those slots.
  22. IGN also gave High school musical a higher score than Duke...What does that say for inept reviewing? Or how about the wretchid POS Flashpoint Dragin rising? IGN gave it a 78...seriously...a 78. I wanted to cut my wrist after playing that garbage game and I got it for free.
  23. LMAO, IGN has zero credibility with me. If mario or COD isnt in the title it automatically loses two points on the rating. For instance, they gave Super Monkey Ball banana blitz for the wii an 84....really? That game was one of the most horrible pieces of crap I have ever played. Doesnt matter, Ill be at the launch party monday night regardless....Gettin the BOS edition.
  24. I think people are expecting something like COD, well F*&^ them. Those arent the people this game is meant for. From what I've played so far, im pretty sure this game is going to be everything Ive expected it to be. Graphics arent pretty, but who the hell cares....it's Duke, Its raw, and it out of bubblegum.
