  1. If there are Transformers Sentinel Prime, Optimus Prime and Rodimus Prime, why is there no Amazon Prime?

Because they shipped it UPS and it hasn't arrived yet.

  2. Atari made the mistake of reselling the same game with better graphics that they had available on every other system they ever made for years. There was no creativity in games from Atari anymore. There was no killer app like SMB or Zelda. There were no RPGs or side scrolling games that the NES had multiples of. Atari's marketing was near non existent. I remember the first time I ever saw an 7800 was at a Federated that was shutting down. TRU never seemed to have carried it. Even today, the graphics of the 7800 have never surpassed the NES.

I suppose they could've just Knick Knack'd her instead: https://www.movie-censorship.com/report.php?ID=1883

That would probably look insanely weird though.

  4. What would Return of the Jedi be like if David Lynch directed it?

    1. GoldLeader

It would probably be like if Oliver Stone directed Space Hunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone crossed with a Tim Burton version of Star Crash.

    2. Tickled_Pink

It would probably be called "The Lynching of the Jedi" for starters.

  5. When you teach a wolf to mediate, it becomes aware wolf.

    1. GoldLeader

Yes it does haha!    Topical because I will soon post in the movie thread about having seen The Wolf Man (1941)...

If you teach it to media(.)te, unfortunately it becomes instead a care-wolf…

(… sorry, don’t mean to be nitty-picky…, just couldn’t help myself… must be the quarter-part visible Moon doing it to me…)

  7. It's amazing how no one watches movies at the theater anymore. I went to see a movie last night and the theater was empty.

I grew tired of movie theaters some years back, after seeing one-too-many films that were projected badly in a crappy theater. After that, I'd only go to really well run/maintained theaters (ArcLight, Dolby Cinema), and then only rarely (usually for big-screen blockbusters). There aren't any good theaters nearby, and they charge more, so it just became too much of a hassle even before the pandemic.

(pre covid) The night before the last Avengers movie, I had bought the only seat so far for the showing, right in the middle.  Paired recliner seats, which clearly show as pairs on the website.

I get to my seat and there is an entire family of 5 in the row, with someone in my seat.   I get there, show my ticket, and the mom makes her kid move out of my seat, and I would have sat next to her in the paired seat.  I think I said out loud "Are you fucking kidding me?"  Moved down one row where nobody was.  What the hell is wrong with people?

I tend to go to movies for the "Rocky Horror" experience myself.  So the clapping, the reactions, the shared experience.   And the popcorn, my wife likes the popcorn.

  8. The plans are somewhere around here. You basically replace the POTS in the the joystick with one from a 2600 paddle controller and a resistor. It's pretty easy.
  9. Back when I was a teenager, I wrote lots of games on my heavily modified Atari 400. I typed in every program from Analog and Antic back then. They taught me how to program. It was great to upgrade to a 130XE. I never had a 5200 as a kid.I skipped it and upgraded to a Colecovision when my heavy sixer when south. It was fun to download the Glen the 5200 man's roms on local BBSs to get a taste of the 5200. Pac-man Jr, Xevious and Space Dungeon on the 8-bits were a lot of fun.
  10. A few years ago I bought a 2 port 5200 in a damaged case. I was able to find another 4 port 5200 in a perfect case but the motherboard was damaged. I put the 2 port MB in the 4 port case and upgraded the video out to composite/S-video. That s-video is feed to another box that converts to hdmi. The system works great with my Atarimax cart. I've repaired the controllers and built a paddle controller for Tempest. I have the trackball and the wico joystick/keyboard system for it. I don't play it much but it is the star of my collection.
  11. Why does every ancient site such as Stonehenge have to with religious or calendar events? What will anthropologists think the Golden Arches are in the future?

The serious answer to your question is that in a primitive agricultural society, planting your crops at the right time of the year is the difference between feast or famine.

In the distant future when they see Taco Bell they'll wonder why we had and needed so many laxative dispensaries.

  12. Which is the better emulation box to run retroarch or something else on? The Atari VCS you can install Windows 10 and run Retroarch or you can go into Dev Mode on the XBox Series S and setup Retroarch there. I believe you can run PS3 games on the Series S.

Are rams called rams because they ram things or is the act of ramming called ramming because rams ram?
