  1. I'm working on selecting arcade games for my newly built Retropie Tank Stick. No one needs 200 versions of Shanghai or twenty versions of pac-man with different copyright notices.
  2. All hail the mighty 1200XL!

If only it had been backwards compatible.

Same compatibility issues as the other XL/XE machines? Or does it have it's own unique problems?

  3. I found the correct neogeo.zip bios. I put it in the neogeo folder. It has to have the checksum of 2cd2ed0b076860813c776d1584fc3d84 for the current release of retropie. Now most of the Neo Geo games work.
  4. Right now, I'm trying to get the NeoGeo and N64 stuff to work. The NeoGeo refuses to start any game. I've tried different bioses and still get the same thing. The N64 I need to configure the controllers. I noticed Mario64 seems to run about 80% speed with the PI3.
  5. Once I get all the games loaded, I won't scrape again.
  6. The PSU is fine. I just get a temp icon during game scraping otherwise no problem so far.
  7. My RetroPI Tank Stick is finished!!

  8. Today I cracked open the Pi power supply to make it fit inside the Tank Stick. I cut it open and soldered 12 gauge speaker wire to it and heat shrink wrapped it. Then I attached the other end to the C14 power plug. Now I don't have the power supply hanging outside the Tank Stick. I wrapped the power supply in electrical tape. Here is the picture of the Raspberry PI seated and plugged in. I put nonskid feet on the buttom of the case. Now when I want to play, I just plug it into power and hdmi and I've got over ten systems and over thousand games at my disposal.
  9. I'm looking at doing something similar to my x-arcade duel stick. Do you still have the template?
  10. I like the fact the controller is completely quiet and just takes a power plug and hdmi cable. Here is a question. Has anyone every skinned a duel joystick tank stick? I've seen overlays for the trackball version.
  11. There are Raspberry PI cases with built in fans but the case is a quarter inch thick press wood. I wonder if enough heat would radiate out of the wood. If I added a fan, I would need to add a vent to front of the tank stick underneath the lip. The Pi only gets hot when it does game scraping.
  12. I also threaded the usb and hdmi wires inside the Tank Stick. It is now an enclosed video game console. All I have to do is plug in power and hdmi on the ports on the back to run a game. I really should have added a power switch to the unit. I'm also considering using the old usb/controller hole on the back for an ethernet plug. Anyway, it is now all contained with the Raspberry PI velcoed in. I did notice it gets a little hot while playing. Maybe I need to add a vent somewhere?
  13. I also moved over the BIOS files into the BIOS directory of retropi. The TG16 version still doesn't want to run for some reason. All I get is black screen when I run a game. They go in /home/pi/retropie/bios. Does any one know why TG16 emulator doesn't work on the current version of retropi? I also turned on the scanlines. This makes the games look like they are running off a crt. The effect is really beautiful. The games are extremely clear and look great. Copy shader config file and png overlay file to: /opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch/overlays/1080p_4-3 The shader config is found in the youtube videos. You will have to update each of the retroarch.cfg files to include things such as resolution, pixel size and a link to tthe 1080p_4-3 file. Finally I wanted to turn off the launch menu for roms but couldn't find it in the latest version of retropi. Does anyone know where it is now? Retropie from the main wheel > Configure RunCommand Launch Script 1 Launch Menu - set to disabled 2 Launch menu art - set to enabled 3 Launch menu joystick control - disabled This keeps the message from appearing as the game loads and keeps people from messing up the system as a game loads.
  14. Last night I did a scraping of the all the games I've added. RetroPI now shows game description, box art and other stats. I had to use the built in scrape utiliity instead of SSELPH Scraper since it failed to install properly. Take takes forever when you don't have a batch job running. To install SSELPH scraper, Exit EmulationStation cd ~/RetroPie-Setup sudo ./retropie_setup.sh Option 3 - Setup / Configuration Option 319 - Scraper for EmulationStation by Steven Selph I also setup the Genesis six button controller. Edit the file /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch-core-options.cfg Add the following lines to the bottom of that config file: picodrive_input1 = "6 button pad" picodrive_input2 = "6 button pad" If there are similar files there with "3 button pad" instead of creating new lines you can change them to match the above. config file is saved in /opt/retropie/configs/megadrive/retroarch.cfg input_player1_a = y input_player1_b = t input_player1_y = r input_player1_x = w input_player1_l = q input_player1_r = e input_player2_a = k input_player2_b = j input_player2_y = h input_player2_x = f input_player2_l = d input_player2_r = g
  15. Ever google map your childhood house and neighborhood?

    1. carlsson

      carlsson

Yeah, I live half a mile from my parents who still live where I was born and raised so no reason to look it up on any map service. I see and live in the neighbourhood every day.

Though certain elements of the neighbourhood has changed a lot over the past 40+ years, but Google won't help me remember what it looked like.

  19. See my thread where I am building a retroPI emulation station using a X-Arcade Tank Stick with a Raspberry PI 3 built in. http://atariage.com/forums/topic/263289-the-retropi-tank-stick-project/

Some of my fiancé's co-workers listen to various things he finds deplorable on high volumes, and refuse to turn the volume down on request. The manager is useless (he has favorites). My fiancé's solution? A Big Jambox Bluetooth speaker, cable of about 100 decibels, and a 10 hour loop of this song.

It seems to work well enough. :)

  22. As part of the new droid factory set available this summer, Disney is honoring the 3DO with the protocol droid R-3DO from TFA.
  23. Nice thing about this process is the Tank Stick still functions as PC or any other console controller. It's just a matter of pulling the USB wire back out and not turning on the built in PI.
  24. Another small change I made today was to change the word Megadrive to Genesis and PCEngine to TG-16. This also changes the themes we see for selection. Navigate to /etc/emulationstation and edit (after backing up) the es_systems.cfg file. Scroll down to the Megadrive section and change the following lines: <fullname>Sega Mega Drive / Genesis</fullname> to <fullname>Sega Genesis</fullname> <platform>megadrive</platform> to <platform>megadrive</platform> <theme>megadrive</theme> to <theme>genesis</theme> This one may also be useful in the pcengine section <theme>pcengine</theme> to <theme>tg16</theme> Next I'll talk about FTPing in the Roms and scraping the game art and description.
