  1. I've been reading this a long time also. I think taking pre-orders so early was a mistake. It makes people nervous when things are delayed with no communication and money is on the line. They feel they can't do anything and the feeling of being taken for ride sets in. I think people also protect them in fear of never seeing the product finished. Personally I don't see this ending well and I'm glad I don't have a horse in this race. Delays plus lack of communication equals class action law suits.

  2. It's a good thing we never bought anything with that profile nor do we ever intend to.

Which makes me wonder how legal that is. How can a company take away a paid for item? That makes me never want to buy something that is stored in the cloud if the company can go out of business or take it away at will. I can see a denial of service but they should at least reimbuse you for products boughten or send the binaries to you in some form. If Atari had downloadable games back in the 80's we would no longer have the games we collect today.

I guess any digitial thing we buy on line is a license for use that can be voided at anytime.

  3. Your console should be banned as well. Going to take more than just creating another gamertag and subscribing again to get back online.

He hacked and he got banned. They have a zero tolerance policy so he'll never get the ban lifted. Best to suck it up rather than wasting your own time and Microsoft's for a valid decision.

  4. So my son makes his avatar face green with a mod and gets his gamertag banned for life. Does that mean the machine can never use xbox live again? Do all I have to do is create a new gammertag and buy another year of xbox live to get back online? He doesn't have any games stored online. I wonder if its even worth getting xbox live again? We only use it for netflix and besides we have six other devices that can run netflix for free. My son uses it for the messanger and very little online game play anymore. Maybe we are better without it. The xbox live connection was always very flakey anyway. It would constantly disconnect itself and then reconnect even though the xbox is hardwired. The way I see it Microsoft loses a customer and I save $60 a year.

Have you ever been "banned for life" from xbox live?

  5. Its all a perception of time. Back in '82 the game was extremely popular. Everone bought one. Just look at ebay auctions. This game is in every game lot. We didnt think it was bad at the time.

As for the picture of the kid playing ms pacman, look at his left hand. Its poorly photoshopped.

  6. Has anyone been playing with Smart Glass on you XBox? I've been playing with under Windows 8. In order to use Smart Glass, you have to set your XBox companion settings (under System>>console settings) to Available. You then have to log into your Windows 8 computer with your Windows Live account. This is the same account your XBox is logged into for XBox Live. It then shows you what application the XBox is using. Windows 8 brings up a touch screen to control your XBox remotely.

I clicked on YouTube on my Windows 8 machine and the XBox brought it up. I could control the video and select other things from the Windows 8 machine. I could buy a game and have it run automatically on the XBox. I don't see a way to control a game as a second screen like the Wii U does but I guess a game has to support Smart Glass to do this.

I haven't seen Smart Glass available for Android yet. Does it work yet with the iOS version?

  7. I was looking at the cover art for Star Voyager and noticed that the bottom of the ship is the Millennium Falcon. What other model or toy pieces did they use to make the space ship?

  8. I've installed the RTM version of Windows 8 and IE10. The web site looks great under both the metro and desktop versions and fixes a lot of problems I had using IE9. For example the posting timeout has disappeared. Sometimes when I would save a post, the site would never respond. That has been resolved.

However, there is a weird glitch using IE10 to create or edit a forum message post. The return button doesn't work. I tried it under the latest Chrome browser and it works correctly so it's just the current IE10.

Just though you want to know before other people start using IE10 on the site.
