For an ISO, I remove the HDD from the PS2 and plug it into my IDE to USB adapter. I run WinHIIP on my PC and select add image. It will then copy the ISO to the PS2 HDD. I then plug the HDD back in the PS2 and run HDLoader.

Then you can use WinHIIP to install the game ISO or rip one directly from the real game disc. I've found ripping from the real game disc gives better results but you do want to check the compatibility chart on post 32 for which modes to set per game.

The new hard drive only method I've tried out is using an old 300GB IDE drive on an extra PS2 I have. The nice thing is you don't have to open the PS2 to do a disc swap to get it installed. All you do is format the new drive on a PC with WinHIIP and then install the new disc image with HHDRawCopyPortable. Then just stick the new drive in the PS2 and your golden. As a kid I loved a8 version of pac-man. Playing with the 500jx was great. Now I like playing the pac-man 4k version.

There are network adapters for ps2 that will accept sata drives. I've put in a 128gb ssd with my games on it with free mcboot on memory card. Its kind of nice not needing my game discs.

About six months ago I picked up a fz-1 at goodwill for $15. It came with a soccer game. I burnt some CDs for it. Some worked. Some didn't. I enjoyed the system but it reminded me too much of my 486 at the time. The graphics and games where the same back then. I have it on display now but don't play it. It's easier to run the emulator off the computer instead. Never liked it as much I thought I would. Probably because I played most of these games before on my ps1 and 486 back in the day.
