Right about the enemy shots: kill the tank, and the shot coming at you disappears. [it's in the manual]

44 - I have work to do! Zero, what's the point bonus for the various patch challenges? Typically there's not a tiered system for the Activision patches.
-
Pretty sure those special items appear in place of the flags you've already grabbed when you come back to that point the next times around.

I just want the cute car. The car I drive in this game is not cute. Maybe it is, you just never see the front?

small increase today: and a quick little sketch: an artist I am not!

First posted score: 44,250. I agree that since the scoring is flat regardless of stage, and only increases over time, that this week's contest is a bit out of whack (and the game risks getting tedious). Regardless, increasing my score should be just a matter of finding time to play, at this point. This game would be fantastic fun if there was some stage-score-multiplier or timer-bonus to be had upon level completion. SEGA usually did better in their VCS game designs than this. I don't get the graphic griping though... has anyone seen diagonal lines on a scrolling playfield look better in any other games?

Perhaps if this is understood to be a 'suggested game' vote, rather than a decisive 'most votes is the next game' scenario, that veneer of mystery can be maintained.

High Score Club 9.15 - Escape From The Mindmaster
DT Kofoed replied to Ze_ro's topic in 2600 High Score Club
Nice score improvement, I didn't use any map either, yet I don't see how it would help much, as the random aspect of the game, is where the challenge is. Plus those sliding walls... In my defense, here: I only mapped the last level, because 40 minutes of blind wandering at the end of an otherwise decent game Freaking Sucks! Levels 1-5 are easy enough to keep in head, especially given the randomization of pieces. Anyone who can complete level 6 by trial and error in the couple minutes you have for the countdown has my respect - I didn't even know where I was supposed to be headed! -
Any word on the patch? I love the game, but it won't play on my HDTV through the Harmony cart, and I'm hesitant to purchase the cart of Skeleton+ itself if the error is causing havoc with my tv rather than the harmony...

That jumble represents an "impressive" score of - 428 - (trust me, it really does!) I feel like I'm hitting a soft wall; not sure how much improvement I can get from this point on... -

355... by the time I'd figured out the final maze, my bonus was all dried up [!expletive!]. so: mm map.bmp (please don't beat my score with this map) I just would like some tip points! -

Looks like: 0-99: Quaint 100-199: Promising 200-299: Amusing 300-399: Intriguing 400-499: Impressive 500-599: Awesome 600 or more: ?? Thanks! It seems the better my score, the more garbled my final screen is I've made it to Intriguing, at least... -
High Score Club 9.15 - Escape From The Mindmaster

2nd and last night before camping: up to 210. The only problem is that well-known Harmony Error... I can read my score fine, but I can't tell what the Mind Master thinks of me (which seems to be the whole point!). Maybe I'm "amusing"? What's after "promising" but before "intriguing"? Anyone have a list of MM declarations at hand to help me out here? -
High Score Club 9.15 - Escape From The Mindmaster

First time playing this one (on my new Harmony WOOT), and seeing as I'm heading to scout camp this weekend with my son, I'm just going to post my score early and be safe: 112 - I hope to have a chance to improve. I must admit that technically this is quite impressive... I've playing other VCS 3D maze games, and this is the first I've seen that scrolls as you move, which makes a huge difference in playability. -
Yar! I pirate second these!
-
I can forgive the fourth stage, but in the 2nd and 3rd stages both the ships and my shots move so quickly they continually jump through each other without a hit, while the enemy shots throughout are recognized as far wider than they are displayed - in terms of intercepting my own. That, or I'm just cranky that I'm no good at it!

Oy! Throwing away double-score week here: I got a Harmony for father's day, and spent days prior setting up my SD roms, and days since playing, so... I have a tiny bump for Tutankham from last week - 1390 - and nothing else. Maybe I'll get some Gorf in tonight... [edit] Gorf: 10,100. Possibly the worst collision detection I've ever had to deal with in a slide-n-shoot...

I have to say I like the idea of doing this game with characters of the era/system, like Pac-man and Pitfall Harry.

Finally getting a little improvement on this one.

Each trip thru the 5 members of the band Journey nets you an additional $50,000. Also anytime you hook up with the band main manager (Oh Yeah!) hehe... you get to be invincible and a bonus of $9,900 added to your score. I hooked up with the Band Manager don't know how he came, but don't now how to change members of the members of the band. The band manager is randomized, as far as I can tell. You might not see him for an entire band run, then get him three times on the same band member next time through. Scoring is simpler than it seems at first. Each time you get your guy to the ship, you advice to the next band member (marked by their initials at the top of the screen). Once you get the fifth band member to the ship (Steve Perry), you escape to your next interplanetary gig, and the title sequence of the space ship plays. You get $50,000 added to your total, and you go through it all again, and again, and again. Essentially, you score points every fifth person, and you simply try to lose as few points as possible in the meantime. The manager is a nice bonus, but really your score comes from every time you get the complete band to their next gig and get paid your $50,000. It took me a solid hour-and-a-half to roll this one, because there's a limit to how many points can be scored on any run-though ($50,000 + $9,900 * # of managers you touch). Also, if you miss the ship once with any band mate, your game is over, so don't!
