Atari 2600 or the Coleco Gemini?
iesposta replied to thevideogamecollector's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Having just acquired a Coleco Gemini, I haven't had a chance to use it except for the controllers. (I still haven't found anything that compares with a heavy Sixer's vibrant color, and I doubt this will.) The Coleco Gemini controllers, although feeling very cheap, are pretty nice! They gave me great control when I tested them with Jr. Pac Man. The joystick clicks easily into all eight positions, and the short throw makes cornering easy. I tested the paddles with kaboom, and they work okay, but sound like plastic scraping on plastic. The Coleco Gemini plug barely fits into a heavy Sixer, but it does. If you have a Harmony cartridge, hold down the joystick button when turning on the console and the joystick will be selected. If you turn on the console without holding the joystick button down, the paddle will be selected. -
Excessive clearance could lead to SD card being eaten
iesposta replied to Tjoppen's topic in Harmony Cartridge
Thanks for pointing this out. I never thought about that happening. Kind of like how I stuck my SD card into the DVD slot which is millimeters above the SD card slot on the right side of the iMac... -

I need one or 2 of those cart holders, where can i get that exact one? I eBay search for "Atari storage"

After trying games on my Harmony! I find myself wanting to support the creators and AtariAge i.e. Medieval Mayhem, Lady Bug, Toyshop Trouble, and some I have tried I just _have_ to get a cart. Snoopy and the Red Barron, Millipede, Sinistar. All these were bought _after_ I got my Harmony.

I get nothing. Launching the .zip crashes Harmony. Launching the .cu just spinner. Rename .cu to .bin just spinner.

I don't think it's a problem to be able to sit there and rapidly fire and take out the castle without thrusting in the beginning levels. Am I missing something? It's been a long time, but I seem to recall being able to do this in the arcade version, at least during the first wave. P.S. Found the black & white version, love it! Thanks for including it.

^Updated^I have some Harder to find Atari 2600 games on Ebay
iesposta replied to GonzoGamer's topic in Auction Central
Re: Snoopy cartridge. Mine has three rectangles on the connector side whereas yours has one rectangle. Maybe that's why he wanted to see that end of the cartridge? -
Thank you, wow! The attention to detail is phenomenal. It can only get better from here on out.

I don't get the negativity for the Star Castle game. It's a less kiddie version of Yars' Revenge with a space ship ( not a fly ). And Yars' Revenge is arguably one of the top 2600 titles! In Star Castle you get chased around so you must keep moving, and when you finally get a shot path to the enemy ship, it fires giant statbursts at you! The fewer the barrier sections, the higher the background pitch -- which increases the gamplay tension. I'll glady buy and add any / all versions that I can to add to my collection. What's the deal with Star Castle 2600?

Thierry, I couldn't e-mail you direct, failed Richard H. makes VecMulti flash cart, but: "Posted Fri Mar 16, 2012 2:37 PM Quote Will the VecMulti be coming back into print? It's out of stock because I've run out of cart cases. I have to order these from the US (I'm in the UK) and they take quite a while to get here (longer if Sean has to have more made in China)."

FB2+ Cart Port Workaround
iesposta replied to gnnash's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
Cart mod finished. Flashback 2+ works great! On board games still work fine. Installed a switch on the back to choose built in games/cartridge. Now that it's finished, I saw the mod where the cartridge insert is in the lower left front. That is so cool! Now I wish I had done it that way. -
Got a new 7800 today! This is Serial Number "A1 87" without expansion interface. - Beef Drop is perfect. - Scramble is perfect. - 2600 operation is perfect. - Robot Tank runs without modification. I read something about a newer TIA chip? If the Serial Number X 7800 is the final run... Maybe that is the reason some home brews won't run? Now, do I keep it RF, or move AV upgrade from lousy Serial Number X 7800? Decisions... Decisions...

Yes, the buyer paid, but PayPal holds the money for almost a month because I am a new seller. I read on here that I would get more bids opening up to worldwide. These Imagers were only released in the US. The winner actually messaged me during the auction asking if I would ship to Europe, so I changed it. It IS a hassle with fees and shipping international, and customs forms, I see why sellers decide on US only! The last day the original interested bidder opened, and I thought that would be it (at my Reserve Price) which I would have been fine with, then a 2nd bidder from Spain countered, and a third bidder jumped in! Late last year I found some that sold on eBay for $600, but I paid $810 plus shipping for one, and got another one for Buy It Now for $910 plus $55 tax (same state) because the 2nd one had the Crazy Coaster / Narrow Escape Color Wheel. So I would say the prices are all over the place!

^Updated^I have some Harder to find Atari 2600 games on Ebay
iesposta replied to GonzoGamer's topic in Auction Central
I just got Snoopy and the Red Baron 1986 for around that price. I thought the gameplay and graphics were soo good for the 2600 I just had to own the real cart! (Ever since I got a Harmony Cart, I have been adding actual cartridges to my collection. Weird, huh?) -
I see what you did there! CX2655 is Yars' Revenge
-
I did not know you could actually stop an active auction with the bidding started, but it was stopped. I guess my info got back to the seller. Good for the seller Bad for the collector looking for a bargain It is now relisted as 2 auctions.

Multiplexing and modern (flat-panel) TVs
iesposta replied to Carl Mueller Jr's topic in Atari 2600 Programming
I noticed flickering on my DLP projector sometimes causes sprites to display every other line and others get "interlaced" together. Quite strange. I would not change my program just to make the projected image look better. It should work on a regular tube TV. Also, some games that change screens cause the projector to lose synch and black out for a few seconds, ie Jr. Pac Man. Sorry can't help with flat panel TVs. -
I think I spotted one. Check out the last picture in this auction: eBay Auction -- Item Number: 170803344247 Opening bid was quite high, do ya think they know what they have? Sorry, fixed link... Note: This is not my auction. (Bumped an old thread, but thought I'd start a new topic since I here they're quite rare!)
