I played a couple of quick games of the new Millipede build because I wanted to test out my Trak-Ball with the Stelladapter-II "mouse mode" (true trackball output). I used the newest Mac Stella build. I wish I had more time to fully play test it, but no, so I don't have any feedback at the moment.

Atari 2600 cap and voltage regulator kits
iesposta replied to mojoatomic's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
The most important green "chicklet" capacitor is the one pictured, next to the voltage regulator. That's the one that will cause "snow" immediately, or after a warm-up. The other one at the top I've replaced, but noticed no difference. If the bottom one was bad, then the top probably is also. The older systems had .1uF, but I recently read somewhere to always use .22uF, but both values will work. The same part, but "newer", looks like a beige rectangle box. I've used these without problem from this pictured "kit". Until mojo returns, get all pictured below, plus thermal paste for $9.95 US. Lost a spring in Reset or Select? Quick temporary fix! (Not my system, but cool nonetheless.) -
From too easy to too hard. Maybe make the Spy Ship slower? Because once it's off-screen and you're in Condition Red, forget about it! There's so many craft coming from all directions, you're lucky to get 1 more station -- if that. Sometimes I hear Spy Ship Sighted, and don't even see the Spy Ship, and then you're in Condition Red. Everything else is amazing, by the way. Make this louder. I kept it quiet because the original is very quiet, but that seems out of place now: .byte 0, $c5, $05, $c5, $05 ; _06_P_Type .byte $c5, $05, $c5, $05 ; _06_P_Type .byte $c5, $05, $c5 ; _06_P_Type _06_P_Type: EQU * - SoundControlVolume - 1

My Top 10 Atari 2600 Games
iesposta commented on HP Atari King of Michigan's blog entry in HP Atari King of Michigan's Blog
Millipede is my fav today — especially the new Trak-Ball version! Back in the 80's it was "The Official Frogger" for the Starpath Supercharger. 8K RAM cartridge power. Still impressive today. -
I don't know what game this thread is for. The bombing game?

There are 2 kinds of PAL, actually more, but in regard to 2600 games - 2 kinds. •Traditionally, PAL-B used in Europe and Australia displays at 50Hz, and has more scan lines than NTSC. This is what bB will make if you "set TV to PAL". •Modern PAL displays are capable of 60Hz, and nearly the same as NTSC except it uses the same PAL color palette. If you just changed game colors to use the PAL palette that would be PAL-60. I have Harmony, Harmony Encore, & Harmony Concerto, and I just got a PAL Atari and have a PAL capable display ( Crosley Retro LCD TV ) but the Atari needs Composite modded because the TV lacks a PAL channel 2/3 tuner.

DK went on sale, but was refunded. Those that ordered and refunded are one pre-order list.

Agreed!I'm jealous. Welcome to the E club! Please cross-post to get it added to the next list update. http://atariage.com/forums/topic/186498-the-official-atari-2600-heavy-6-switch-list/page-1

Mods please close. Outdated thread.

I'm considering using a slow sample for the low boom and the same sample speeded up for the higher boom in Bosconian/Draconian. I would like like to know what everyone thinks. A sample for closer to the arcade, or what the TIA can do (that we've heard so often)? I have the first 8 sounds (which includes the end music), and an updated Sector Clear fanfare. Listen for them in the next Draconian build this weekend or next weekend...

Atari Flashback Portable!
iesposta replied to Byron's Reviews's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
Re: Flicker It was a great choice by Debro. Since the 2 Players are used 3 times, flickering both at a steady 20Hz saves programming intelligent flicker. IMHO it is less distracting than having the enemies change brightness all the time, but I'm probably in the minority with that opinion! P. S. OMG! The "fix" for using Dintar816's Pac-Man was to use Dennis Debro's version!! -

OMG! The "fix" for using Dintar816's Pac-Man was to use Dennis Debro's version!! Look at John's video. The different screen sizes, I would guess, is that John H's "older" one was the pre-release version that did have a larger screen. Good news is that this year's model does show better color. I can't say about the left-right viewing angle from a video because you physically have to see it with both eyes. -
Congratulations on your 1K post! I was referring to the woman's chest down where her belly button is.

I'm fascinated by this one. Captain phallus helmet, and her shirt! Who knew granny droop was a look?

Thank you, RevEvg.Oddly enough I never played or knew about Bosconian until recently! I even missed it in MAME because if I didn't recognize it, I would launch it. I've seen and or played many obscure games (Hailey's Comet anyone?) in the 70's, 80's (& even 90's when I often went to Arcade auctions in New Jersey), but there must not have been a Bosconian anywhere in central Pennsylvania's bowling lanes, mall arcades, arcade businesses, Laundromat's, or Hershey Park (Parks) I probably played Reactor once, but it was too different to invest any more quarters. There's an Atari Trak-Ball color vector game "Quantum" where you draw (or lasso) around enemies. I'd never seen that, but had an idea for a game "drawing around enemies" since I bought an Atari Touch Tablet for drawing on my 800XL in the 80's.

This story just gets more and more strange! Walmart was to have the LCD full color TV display, while every other store gets the Color Segmented cheap hardware. I hope it is just because Pac-Man and Space Invaders were never planned to get a TV, emulator, ROM, and Walmart wants to make money by selling what other stores sell - be it the same model along with onees that have better hardware.

Nathan: Both are less than 4000Hz. I always used 4000Hz as a minimum, but wanted to try less. "Blast off" at 4000Hz (packed) was around 1832 bytes. This new sample is 1243 bytes. That 600 bytes smaller. What I did was decrease the duration, which increased the frequency (sounds like chipmunk). Things really start to artifact when going lower, except if the sample is very low like "battle stations". Then it can take a very low rate and still sound good. It's the mid-range and highs that start to artifact when the playback rate drops very low. What I intended to do was to make the arcade sample play back a little faster but sound the same. I haven't had success doing that. The shorter I make the sample, the more "chipmunk" it sounds. I was surprised that the playback through emulation sounds noticeably poor, but on real hardware during game play it sounds awesome. I watched a video of the Atari 8-Bit Bosconian, and this 2600 version is already better IMHO.

No you can't skip it. What's wrong with my music, once, at the start of the game (not level)? That 7 seconds is a _really_ long time to wait! Try "mute". Actually that music is the end of game, high score music so it will be replaced soon.

Much thanks to Random Terrain for making an easier to understand, commented, fixed and optimized example, and adding it to his website! See Post #1 for the link.

I can push a whole Playfield display from data statements in batari Basic. You set a hi and low address which I found thru trial and error. Then an ARM command pushes 8 bits at a time. Since it is bypassing basic's nice "Playfield:" command, you have to do it the strange way the hardware wants it, as in: it goes bottom row up, and the 2nd & 4th PF sections are reversed.

Atari Flashback Portable!
iesposta replied to Byron's Reviews's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
I've read about atGames including an Atari 2600 game called "Dan Kitchen's Tomcat", but I don't see it on the current lists. It is in the list of games in their/your June 2017 announcement. Has this unknown game been on any released hardware or September 2017's hardware? -
It was the shield touching the UAV. Looks much better now. Thank you!

Yes I have a meter.

Do you mean the left and right sides of the image? That overscan area can be cropped out.
