  1. I don't think it is a power button. It looks to me like someone cut out a stock TI ad image and had a bit of left over joystick in the picuture. I can't find the exact image, but I recall a similar image from a TI advertisement with the joysticks sitting in front of the console. I'll bet the author of the book cut the image from the advert and pasted it onto the background image. Old school cut and paste with scissors and actual paste.
  2. There this: http://www.adafruit.com/blog/2012/07/27/raspberry-pi-and-mess-multi-emulator-super-system-nes-gamegear-genesis-piday-raspberrypi-raspberry_pi/ They have a MESS install running on Raspberry Pi. There's a MAME version, also: http://www.raspberrypi.org/archives/tag/mame I was thinking of getting a Raspberry Pi specifically to run MESS/MAME and TI emulation.
  3. Nice! I think I've found a 3.5" drive that should work in the PEB. I just have to get it all in my hands and try it out. I'm sure I'll be asking questions again. 8^)
  4. That sounds like a viable option. In response #8 of this thread, Ciro pointed me to TI99-PC which appears to also support 3.5" disks.
  5. Interesting option I hadn't considered. I guess the idea would be to transfer the 5.25" content to a 3.5" disk, then move that to the PC/emulator. I'm all ears!
  6. I have the TI and PEB with 2 working 5.25" drives.
  7. PC99 format is not compatible with Classic99, Win994A, nor MESS, correct?
  8. Is that you, Ciro? We just keep bumping into each other! Yes, I had a similar thought to find an old PC for not too many $$$. That might be the best option at this point.
  9. I checked the BIOS on my old computer and I see it only has an option for a 3.5" floppy - no 5.25" at all. So, it does not look like I can set up this PC with a drive and capture the disks. Other ideas?
  10. Will do! The PC that I'm using is over 10 years old, so there's a chance. I'll check out the details you outlined and report back. Thank you again!
  11. Thanks for the tips! I have a Windows XP machine that just might work (the one I'm using now, in fact). The trick will be to find a 5.25 drive that will work with it. I wonder if one of my TI PEB drives would work...hmmmm....
  12. Thanks, RXB. CALL PG was the missing piece.
  13. Thanks for the response, Tursi. I ran the debugger but didn't find anything. No messages outside the normal operating messages. During the process, I was exploring the Infocom disks as well as some others. It seems that classic99 can't actually read the disks. Either the V9T9 format or the FIAD format (the DSK1 contents that are default with classic 99, too) when I go to a disk manager and try to get a catalog it gives a partial disk name and and empty disk. All of the Infocom disks I checked give a no disk found error (7, I think). These exact same disk files work fine on the WinXP VM. It would appear that there's a file system read problem., but I'm not sure how to approach it. I checked the same disks under MESS and they read fine. Here I get the green screen and freeze up when trying to start Leather Goddesses of Phobos while other Infocom disks work (Planetfall, Zork, Ballyhoo).
  14. I found this: http://www.deviceside.com/fc5025.html Any experience with it?
  15. I'm going through my collection and I have a very, very nice collection of floppy disks. Things like DTIHCG Disk of the Month from 05/86 through Feb 95 - over 100 disks in total. (Not sure what DTIHCG is - any ideas?) Also IUGAMES01 through IUGAMES11, 14 disks titled TI-Carts, and a mixed set of some User Group disks. I would very much like to archive this in such a way that they can at least be used on an emulator - Classic99, Win994a, or MESS. This archiving could also allow reconstituting them to floppy in some way. Are there ways to do this? How? I appreciate any and all tips and ideas. -Kirk
