I love Resurgence. It’s easily the CD that has seen the most use on my JagCD. Unfortunately it shares the high score table with the regular game.

It's pretty much Iron Soldier with upgraded graphics. IS2 is a nice graphical upgrade over IS1. IS3 is probably an even more substantial improvement. Other than that it is a very similar experience.

Like Machine said pressing '0' in a lot of games toggles music on and off. I'm not sure if this is true of Zool 2. It is not mentioned in the manual. The manual does say that the volume of sounds and music can be adjusted in-game. To adjust music volume hit 'Pause' and then hit 'A'. Here is the relevant page in the manual.

I look at the radar to watch for clear areas. It seems like staying near the top is better than staying near the bottom since they bounce and break into many pieces but you do risk getting hit by one as it drops without enough time to dodge. I have not discovered any sure strategy. I get to wave 19 with plenty of lives but I end up losing them all because of the meteor shower on that level.

Stupid meteor showers.

The meteor shower is the only thing I really don’t like about this game. It just doesn’t seem like a fair mechanic. The only strategy I have come up with is to navigate by radar. That still isn’t a foolproof approach though.

It was the last game I needed to complete my collection. At the time I could get the jewel case version no problem and the price wasn't too bad. I had to have the longbox to consider it complete though and it took me quite a while to be happy bidding on one. Ultimately I think I paid $125 to finish the collection up. I wasn't too happy with that price but it didn't seem like the situation was going to get any better so I went for it. As for the game itself... I'm not crazy about these games. They can be frustrating indeed. The animation really is great though.

I like all three but I would put Iron Soldier 2 on top.

I think it's "They're Going To Get You". Not sure why that's been omitted on any of the playlists I've found but I'm pretty sure it's in the game after some of the levels.
The Doom wiki does not list that track: https://doom.fandom.com/wiki/Atari_Jaguar#Soundtrack

Jaguar HSC used to award a participation point if you submitted a score for any of the season's games after the round was over. I guess that was dropped from the rules some time ago.

I really like the Tower table. It's good fun.

I think that mostly everyone who's wanted to get into collecting the old stuff had done so by now, and I really don't think that the younger kids (gen z'ers) are going to be as interested in physical retro collections. I've also heard a lot of talk from gen x'ers and millennials considering to dump their physical collections in favor of flash carts. So I think we're about to reach a point where some of the supply is going to start coming back in, while demand decreases.
Popular consoles have seen a plateau effect, while the more obscure ones are rising as collectors tap out of collecting for the obvious platforms. For example, everyone already has everything they can reasonable afford on SNES, so now they want another console to focus on, so they turn to something like the Game Boy, or the Jaguar which we now see are both on the rise. Eventually, we'll all run out of different console alternatives to collect, and a good number of us will probably throw in the towel and dump our collections onto the market around the same time. Some are already doing this, others while others are just turning to different consoles.I have been collecting for Jaguar since it was on store shelves. Once the bargain pricing ended prices have only ever gone in one direction. Jaguar seems impervious to market trends. People have long predicted the peak of Jaguar prices and it defies those predictions again and again. Maybe you're right or maybe the Jaguar is just an enigma.

I have played a few games but I haven't gotten a score worth posting yet. I have always liked the Tower table better than the Ruiner table and that is still true today.

Has anyone compared textured ball to normal ball? Does it make any difference to the framerate? I know that in World Tour Racing turning off the road textures improves the framerate.

I do think a good balance is key. Participation seems to be lower for non-retail games. At the same time we have been doing HSC for a long time and the retail games have all been played. That doesn't mean there isn't more fun to be had with them.
