  1. I think you are missing the point of making a good game for all the Cv gamers and families out here. Don't let personal preferences ruin a good game.
  2. Oh yes, he is alive and well!! Came to the ADAM convention this year along with Luc and Tommy. Had great session on game genres and games possibly which need creating. And finally ran through and finalized Flora. GOOD JOB DANIEL !!! We salute you !!!
  3. Dale is working on a video don't know where he is at with though; trying to get it going as we speak!!!!
  4. The Coleco ADAM/ColecoVision annual convention is now taking place in Kingston, Ontario right now. We want you to be aware that we will be having an online chat for anyone/everyone interesting tonight. 9pm EST we will be gathering at the chat site ....... http://www.adamcon.org/~dmwick/chat/ Come and join us and find out what we have been doing at the convention, or just to chat about almost anything.
  5. I second that observation!! Got both S.O.S. and Mario Bros. SOS is not a hard game or actually too interesting, BUT it is an actual piece of the ColecoVision's history. On the other hand, Mario is AWESOME. 2 players attacking the various creatures trying to kill you, and the 2 players can play as a team and get all the creatures. I missed out on the first edition, but got the latest one, can't say enough about the team that brought it to us in Colecoland.
  6. Got my games today, even with Toby out of commission..............did he mailo them from his hospital room????
  7. I can agree with you completely. While I had to wait until 1989 as my kids pulled me into the ADAM, our hardware is still clicking along nicely. Of course, there are the occasional data pack problems and the data drive timing wheel meltdowns, but the actual hardware is lasting much longer than Coleco intended. The second generation (and some first generation) ADAM was and still is a dependable computer, more dependable than most any of the ibm stuff I have used since then. Too bad it was so short lived, but hwat can you expect from a company that made a living off short lived games and dolls.
  8. And THAT is your legacy to the ColecoVision and Coleco ADAM group here on AtariAge and everywhere. KEpp up the great work with the Coleco history and other projects you have ahead of you.
  9. Oh oh......it works for me in just plain mode using IE 10. Maybe yo have a virus or a tainted versin of IE 10
  10. Yes, but wouldn't it be COOL to have the cart shells to plug in with the neat labels I am sure they have planned??
  11. It IS fairly easy to blow out a compact flash card. We did it in the testing stages of the IDE setup. You CAN actually plug the cf card in backwards (upside down if you will) into the adapter for programming it; and it kills the cf card dead as a doornail. We blew out approx 6 of them one day. And THAT is the biggest reason we supply the buyer with the dos file to make new ones, as well as the original cf image file and instructions. Software to make a new cf card on the ADAM is also included in the sale, although that is the hard way; but all you need is the ADAM itself with an ADAM disk drive. Happy to hear you got the setup working again even thoug hyou probably ruined a cf card, those are not hard to find and replace.
  12. You need the switch, usually th head goes left and trips the switch, then goes to the right about 1/2" to be ready to print at the correct indent margin
  13. So now you know that the entire problem revolves around that little momentary switch on the left side. I don't quite undrstand that you removed the switch and the printer worked; my understanding is that the switch needs to be there and operational inorder to reset the printer each time the cpu reset switch is pulled. Did you try disconnecting the switch when the printhead gets to the left? For that matter; any time the print head is moving, you should be able to hit that momentary switch and the head will recycle.
  14. Hardhat is alive and well folks. He is just busy doing whatever he does normally and also getting ready for ADAMCON 25 in Kingston, Ontario. I emailed back and forth with him Wed night about the convention.
  15. Hang onto it. It must be a rare box for the ADAM. unless more show up. As NIAD pointed out, towards the end, Coleco just put stuff together and got rid of it; lock, stock and barrel
  16. I actually emailed back and forth with the author of the first SmartBASIC manual. He sent me the disks containing the original files he wrote on for the manual. They were written on a Televideo 802 computer with another funky disk drive configuration. I have not found any conversion program or someone to transfer them to text files we can use. AND you are totally correct, he knew nothing about the ADAM, had never seen one, or used it. It was totally a seat of the pants manual based on what he knew about other computers Basic programming languages. The plain cardboard box is intriguing, although you could throw away the blue box and the styrofoam inserts containing the ADAM would fit perfectly.
  17. Well, that's a new one on me, haven's seen on quite like it; but as I said, Mark used anything laying around and available. The drive will need +12volts; +5 volts; & possible -5volts ..... all DC. If the power supply states that or you check it with a tester and come up good, plug it in!! That is if you have a working ADAM to use it with; saw the rest of your post about the non working stuff.......
  18. Now, as NIAD says...."back in the day".....he is correct, memory fades. But as I recall, 9600 baud was max for modem speed, while 19,200 was only for cpu to cpu serially. Using a 300 baud modem basically requires that all communication is in text mode; and as we did at an ADAM convention years ago, the user needed to get a "shell account" from the internet provider in order to tsurf the net in text. As far as a local BBS, seem to remember youj had to set the ADAM modem at 1/2 duplex inorder to send and receive data/text. For now, my brain is tapped out, so :"over and out"
  19. In retrospect, the power supply pictured may just be a aftermarket or homebrew power supply for the ADAM itself. IF you have an electrical tester, check the pin voltages of an ADAM printer and then the power supply pictured to verify IF it is an ADAM cpu power supply.
  20. Ya'll got one funny looking power supply there. Now, the MI disk drives I have seen and own have a power brick similar in size to the black one pictured. I can't see the back of the MI drive, but the power connector is probably a 4 prong flat male end. Also on the back is an ON/OFF switch; a toggle for drive 1 or drive setting; data in and data out phone like male plugs. A picture of the back would be helpful. Also, IF the 9 pin serial plug is the cable out of the black "ps" box, then it doesn't match UNLESS someone has altered the power in on the back of the MI drive. [as Mark used a "whatever parts are available" type of construction, anything is possible]
  21. Craig, if the cable doesn't come thru and work correctly, AND Jim's diagram doesn't work (havent checked it out); I DO have the wiring scheatic to take the Commie or similar 5 pin din and are solder some wires to make the ADAM video work and split out to video and audio rca connections. Knee replacement 2 weeks ago and finally feeling a little human and walking some - stairs not so much yet, but coming
  22. Sorry but no craig. I am out of extra boards all together. Wished I had some extra's, especially video boards.
  23. Good score Craig. Keyboard quite yellowed, but if it works, great! Many of the tapes may well be just Buck Rogers tapes with other stuff on them. They are nothing more than right directory tapes which can be erased and reused. As far as the printe goes, sounds like the printer circuit board is bad, you need a good one. [bob]
