Thanks Zylon! I did replace those...found that solution in the service manual. Unfortunately it didn't fix the problem...so I'm going with one of the chips is dead at this point :-(

Sorry to bring this topic from the dead but...with radio shack out of business, where would I find the power socket? I searched Jameco and Mouser with no results :-(

[Atari 2600 sound issues :-(]

So I got an atari 2600 today that just outputs static for the sound. I think I remember reading where the green chicklet capacitor on the switchboard goes bad...would that be the root cause?

Zyrother: Yes your unit is a 2 sticker unit. It is indeed a heavy 6-switch 2600.

2Supra4U: Give me an update when you can so I can update my spreadsheet.

SumerNivek: The channel switch allowed you to change between channel 2 and 3. Some models did and some models didn't have this feature.
Can you provide pics of your unit?

That click stick looks/sounds awful.

You think that's bad? The one on the Retron 5 is pretty bad too...after you play it for a while you tend to drown out the sound of it.
