  1. First you gotta think, "What computer do I want to emulate". All the popular (best-selling) computers/consoles can be emulated. An emulator is simply a program that acts like the real thing. These are the emulators I use AMIGA - WinUAE, or Winfellow C64 - CCS64 or WinVICE C128 - WinVICE VIC20 - WinVICE or PC-VIC C16/PLUS4 - YAPE ATARI 800 - AtariWINpLUS MSX - NLMSX AMSTRAD - CAP32 ATARI ST - STEEM Consoles ATARI 2600 - STELLA or Z26 NINTENDO - JNES and there loads more. for your games/program must come as Disk Images or Tape Images, which act like the real disk for your emulator your using. Cartridge consoles are usually called ROMs I recommend to begin with, select an easy system you were fimular with in the past, Atari 800, C64, Amstrad, etc. and download your favorite game to test it for the first time (disk image or Tape image). After a while you will get fimular them. Then you will easily have no problems in emulating more advanced computers such as Amiga, Atari ST, and even systems you have never used before or heard become easy to emulate too. Then go for the Arcade Machines (MAME), and even 286-486 DOS games. ALways go for the latest versions of your emulators, as many of the systems are still in early stages of emulation. Hope this helps...

    N64 Emulation

I use Project64 as my Nintendo64 emulator, and ive got Mario 64 and its running a little buggie. But gee its runs damn slow for my PC.
  3. Im still waiting patiently for Atari800win 3.2 I hope the Atari800win plus team havent discontinued their project. Cause its the best Atari 800 emulator out there and its future looks very promisng.
  4. Replying just takes a couple of seconds. But NEW TOPIC and EDIT seem to be the time-comsuing parts for me.
  5. Making posts are quite slow at the moment. I just created a new thread under Off-Topic and it took 35-50 secs to get thur after i clicked SUBMIT, but then again it takes even longer just to edit em. But it very easy to make a double-post that way with the posters that are unsure about this.
  6. You could play them on a real 486 if u wanted too, although your 486 would be too fast for the 286 games. Plus you would have an annoying PC Speaker for your sounds. But in DOS-BOX your PC Speakers sounds come on off your soundcard speakers instead. Amazing I need a faster PC too have full enjoyment of DOS-BOX. A Pentium 2 400+mhz would be the miminum to play Games that were programmed for the 286 machine. AMAZING!
  7. Thats strange... Its seems to refuse to run at all. Did you know the right DOS-BOX .58 ?? Maybe you downloaded a corrupt copy.
  8. It Should, are u sure you know how to use it correctly. lets say u want to play Last Ninja ? and its in your c:gameslastninja directory DOS-BOX begins on Z: Prompt so type.. MOUNT C C:GAMESLASTNINJA then type.. C: then DIR and run the game.. probably be LASTNINJA.COM 1 Game I cant get working but its says it works in the list is. ULTIMA UNDERWORLD Doesnt seem to work under DOS-BOX althought the list says it does.
  9. Priveers I cant work out what happened to your www.colocalhost.com link of w/e! That was my favourite DOS Games Site and it worked yesterday, now its dead!
  10. Its a little of the slow side for me too and ive a 266mhz PC. You can try to decrease Frame-Rate (CTRL F7). Or, I dont know, anyone known the best way to get this running at full-speed. Anyway best of all (Not just Games), I can now get my old DOS Demos/Programs to work again. Also anyone know the best link for DOS Demos.?? Im sure most of those ones would work. privateers.. Thanks more DOS Games links!! Ill get too them.
  11. 80 cents a game ? Personality I wouldnt bother since you can just download em for free at other sites as well. Even for 80 cents you would expect to be the "original" version and not a cracked version.
  12. Yes running old DOS Games and risking a possible system lock-up it now a thing of the past! You and now run em either in a window/Full Screen and at the correct speed, Faster or slower, Screenshot capture, record to WAV File, etc. etc. And ill got Windows ME and I cant believe im now playing these old DOS Games again!
  13. DOS-Box Emulator is great raindog.. Thanks and I never knew this an DOS Emulator could be possible. Im now able to play all my favourite old DOS Games of the early 90s now. This is brillant! If I trried to load those without it they will simply lock-up my system and do all sorts of werid stuff!
  14. Thanks i couldnt find any anywhere so now im using the www.abandonkeep.com keep right now. Hmm its works wonderfully! Umm anyone know if DOS-BOX emulates the PC Joystick? Or do I got to get a real PC Joystick like its seem like a cant play Ghost'n'Goblins withone one.
  15. I just now downloaded DOSBox it looks promising I just look for a link where i can download the games. As the Abandonware link what privateers69 gave me http://aw.localhost.ee/aw/ is now dead.
  16. I have just tried out SKELETON for the first time and im impressed. Wow first 3D game ive ever seen on the Atari 2600. Very Clever. I just the Bards Tale type of 3D in this game. But yet to work out what to actually do..
  17. At least a PC is a computer thats runs everythink. It was a pain when all those (amigas, c64s, ataris, etc) were compatible at all with eatch other If was the Joysticks that were compatible with them all!
  18. That ScuumVM runs great esciapply how unlike DOS-Boxes that just run in the background and still runs at the correct speed all the time!
  19. I guess theres no choice now but to get the latest MAME version, latest ROM-SETS. Then obviously they will began to get corrupted if I just install a later MAME version(s) (MAME .81-even though it not out yet) in the future and thats it. And run them with the same Romsets (Games) then some would get corrupted. Cause I didnt bothered to read the Whats New in MAME .xx and replaced those as well. Whoa! Bit of work now, and thought just installing the later versions of MAME was long enough. Oh well, Thats MAME! So Anyway now I know y my romsets were mstery getting corrupted now.

    what is MAME?

Anyway the game I was talking about with "No tilt" was POWER DRIFT. In Finalburn it says : Glitchies, No Tilt. Power Drift couldnt be played on a flat-table (or cocktail). At Least I now know what Screen-Flipping means.
  21. I C, I dont think so far there would be do much difference between MAME .66 (Which i have) and MAME .69. I was thinking of making all my Zipped ROM-SET set to read-only, so they dont get corrupted. But it probably be a waste of time. And i have 3 MAME .66 versions (MAME-DOS), MAME-WIN32, and MAME-WIN32 (WIth the front-end). Sometimes i decide which one i feel like using before i play my game, and after a while some do corrupt after a while. But as you said some of those (Corrupt ROMS) may work with MAME .53 (My last version before i upgraded!). So to get them to work with MAME .66, I better get the updated Rom-Sets.
  22. Sharky

    what is MAME?

Oh i see the flat-table Arcade Machine so player 2 wont have to play it upside down, the screen will flip. Not much point of that on an emulator then since playing my games on and upright monitor.
  23. Sharky

    what is MAME?

Still dont get what Screen Flipping means ? Or what a cocktail cabinet looks like...
  24. I wonder? Is MAME actually saving stuff or modifying the Zips files the games ROMs are in ? Because some of my Rom-sets get corrupted after a while it seems and I have to go and downloaded a new fresh version of some of the games. Bit of an annoying thing..
  25. Damocles and Mercenary 3 were 3D games and they ran quite smooth and the Amiga. But I can see your point that a full-screen textured 3D game wouldnt be a good idea to code on the Amiga like Doom.
