  1. The only mames i dont download are the Mahjong ones and some newer ones after 1994 because my system would have to hope with their required CPU Needs. And its important to download the SAMPLE files to if you find out your game doesnt have any sound.
  2. GGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!
  3. I remember Pitfall Mayhem Adventure had a hidden gem where if you go thur this secret door you get to play the Original Atari style Pitfall which I thought was really cool, I wonder if Pitfall Harry will have a hidden Gem too maybe this time a hidden Pitfall II.
  4. I suggest upgrading soon because most romsets have been redumped again to work better and yes as Nukey Shay said as above WWW.MAME.DK is the only place you need to go for everything. Just register its free and so simple!. I suggest also downloading the Artwork and Samples on some games because some games like Night_Driver has Artwork displayed on-screen and it can't be emulated and some Sound Samples were analog (esciapply older games) and if you ROM has no sound, download its sample and simply add it in your ARTWORK Folder and SAMPLE Folder. Its so easy and cool too. I now got Space Invaders with Sound and Artwork. The way it should of been.
  5. Hey Belgarath if they are all more chinese/japanese sex Mahjong Games, then it can wait but they seems to be some interesting ones on the list that arnt Mahjong games. Hmmm... I better look thur this better.
  6. Ill wait... Its not worth the trouble i already got now 564 Games for MAME and hardly completely any of em. At least it good to know they never scarp their MAME project unlike other emulators after a while
  7. I dont get a problem with Downloads since i use Opera 7, because its got some sort of Download manager inside it. You can always resume downloads. But seriously MAME probably just fix up 1 Rom-set such as sound or colours then named it as MAME .67. So i wont bother wasting my time again. I'll wait till it gets to about .70 before i re-upgrade. And yes I am thinking of upgrading to Cable connection but already I got a new Windows version on my mind and also a new CPU upgrade so MAME can wait...
  8. Ive got dial up and it took me half a day to download and install MAME .66 (DOS), MAME .66 (WIN) and MAME .66 (WINBASE or Front end one), then I was happy then this happens. Oh well, I'll live...
  9. After all that upgrading I did i few days ago from MAME 0.63 to MAME 0.66, now MAME 0.67 is out.. Look! http://www.mame.dk/emulators/ Oh well thats life I guess...
  10. Othello was my Mums favourite game while I was terrible at it. Still Atari's Othello is my best Othello for any system. My mum could beat the Computer sometimes, its the matter of getting the corners of the board before your opponent to get in a winning position (as no one could take the corners off ya). But ill could never get a corner. Its just amazing how well an Atari 2600 could "think". It was so good how you could play 1 player as well as 2 players.
  11. I just downloaded the PC Windows version and its the smoothest Ive seen yet. But you can't play full-screen and thats the biggest you get it. Ill stick with the Atari 800 version because its the original and the best!
  12. I guess thats true. Since ive got nothing to lose anyway. Then after all that, I probably be back using MAME-Win since I would have a lot more system resources after the fresh reinstall.
  13. I gave up on Windows 98 so long ago, althought it was good after it was freshly installed. But 3 times I had to reinstall that. And the same program used to come at startup. something like "Explorer has caused a fault at adress $XXXXX or w/e" and then it would automatically shut down your computer. And since my PC turns itself off automatically it was a real Pain!! WHat about Windows 2000 ? maybe
  14. I could go ahead and do that, but that also seems like a dangerous task as this would wanna edit your system files and just not sure if I should trust it.
  15. That what I wanted to do was play around with the Command switch options, but when i go to the DOS box and type dmame.exe - showusage, the options come up so far and scrolls right now thats all the commands arnt big enough to display in the DOS box. It also says see Readme.txt for help, but stangely MAMEDOS .66 doesnt come with a readme.txt file and the only thing I could do was to play around with the mame.cfg file. which I have. I just ran AdAware and it comes up with 21 Running Processes. So theres a lot of invisible programs running in my system right now and ive only got 39% System resources left. Disconnecting from the Internet helps increase performance a bit and Opera 7 (My browser) is very resource hungry too. I either got 2 choices. Examine my startup ini files manualy and tried to find those invisible programs or even examime my system restiry file to try to find those inbvisible programs. Bit of a dangerous task but I thinking more of now., just backuping my Emulators, disk images, Roms, and Front-ends and Format my whole drive and find someone with a copy of Windows XP.
  16. K, ive decided to start making arrangements to get rid of it.' Ill thinking of getting hold of Windows XP, is that a good idea?
  17. Thats what I thought, but im not sure upgrading the MAME versions have caused the slowness or its my full-on system performance as I havent reinstall windows or 7 or 8 months now. Even Space Invaders and Pac-Man dont run at 100% frame-rate anymore using MAME Windows. But MAME DOS, Im getting at least a 20% more increase in Games. Thats why I was trying to use it...
  18. I think recalling, getting to that space ship thats 66,000 feet above ground. (You can always see it from anywhere as its a white dot in the sky). I think you can get there was the first space ship you buy at the start of the game, it just take patience, its best to go into location 09.06 first and pick up the Sights so navigating was a bit easier. I never completed Mercenary: The Second City before buts theres not much difference expect different building locations and objects and trading are harder to find. Ive actually "jumped off" the Space Station before without entering my spaceship first. (But of course I survived - Low Gravity maybe ) I dont think that Spider-Web in 09.06 had anything to do with the game, as some useless objects like table and chair. But those useless objects were good for navigation for "marking" a already visited room down. I only ever finished Mercenary once and I bvarely remember how I did it expect trading the right object the power up this rocket you find somewhere inside a building or so. But it was cool. As for Amiga's Damocles and Mercenary III, they were good and had loads of planets to explore and solid graphics but somehow they werent as good as the original 8bit Mercenary (I found them too complicated and other games were out and more or less based on Mercenary by then).
  19. Battlezone good point. But then again Afterburner is simular but your up in the air Astral Zone from 1983. Not to mention Buck Roger, which maybe had the first solid vector graphics. There was Driller with solid graphics but way to slow in my opinion. Galaxy Force 2, maybe first textured one. Space Gunner from 1983 But 1985 Space Harrier maybe fits in here too. Or even say Star Wars. Stealth or Stellar 7 Theres War of the worlds from 1981 I guess no one really knows But a point is Wolfensten 3D probably was the most graphical playable one ever which maybe started the trend.
  20. Mercenary of course was one game to love or hate. Did Mercenary first start on the Atari 800 before it was put on other systems? Because ive already prefer the Atari version due to this extra smoothness feeling its got. I ended up finishing Mercenary but that was on the C64 and thats one Adventure/Flight Simulator/Trading game ill never forget. Isnt the planet Targ huge, and theres a few isolated buildings in the outback, not to mention the huge Space Station floating the air. It was so realistic (expect crashing your spaceships ) and so much freedom gameplay. There was some fantasting buildings to see. Underground in the building I sometimes got lost and sometimes outside I lose my spaceship somewhere and have to walk for 3 or so hours the next underground complex. But that was all the fun. My friends Hated it because of the "stick graphics". But so what, you forget all about the graphics when you sink into the game. Any liked Mercenary ?
  21. Ill was just playing Mercenary and thats an old game. While your outside its pretty much of a Flight Simulator but when you go underground your in building and already it reminds me of Doom expect their are no textures just vector graphics. Maybe Mercenary had the idea somewhere.
  22. I have a Pentuim 2 with Windows Me installed, and ive got all versions of MAME .66 (DOS and Windows). The good thing I like about the DOS version is that its quite faster and you get more frame rate, so I wanna use it. But my PC doesnt like DOS because its all over the place and flickering when I use DOS Based Program (It does the same to other DOS-Based Emulators too). But some I managed to change the resolution from 320x200 to 320x240 and it was perfect. But on MAME (DOS) I believe its a resolution problem and I cant seem to change it, Ill tried editing Mame.cfg file everywhere but no luck... Anyone know or is this just Windows Me?
  23. Ultima 4 was my best. Played 2-3 on an Atari 800 Played 4 on a C64 (I think the Atari 800 didnt have music) After 4, well they all are ok but the Ultima magic feeling wore off for me. I guess it was all becoming too serious in graphics, colour and realism. Mind you Ultima 8 was pathetic. I mean a small island Pagan where you dont know anybody. What the point was that ?
  24. Im just curious that there are loads of Game Genres out like Shoot'em ups, scrolling platform games, Beat'em ups, Stragery War games, Flight Simulators, etc, etc. They were all pretty much started in the 80s. And i think last of all came the First Person Shooters. Donkey Kong started platform games altogether. I know Pole Position started up realistic driving games. I think Super Mario Bros started the Scrolling Platform Games (or was it Pac-Land? ) What game was the earliest First Person Shooter? I remember back in 1994 and someone showed off their PC with DOOM. I had an Amiga 500 and I was jealous as hell. But Im sure Doom got the idea from some other game. But I never came across First Person Shooters in the 80s, so where did it all begin ?
  25. Well in my opinion playing modern games today is like watching a movie, and playing the same game again is like watching the same movie again. Its like Quake 3, you play it once and it fantastic. But when you play it from the Start a 2nd time, its like the same movie again. Thats probably why a SAVE function is essentional in a game, its like pausing the Game/Movie so you can come back and watch/play the rest later. I doubt there could be anything like "Original game" anymore like Space Invaders vs Pac-man are totally different games. Yet they came out within a year so apart from each other. All the game genies have been done long ago. Another thing, new modern games get old very quickly.
