I like the title screen for Journey Escape the most probably, it has a good good escape capsule ship flying around in 3D with a cool short tune to it.

I know what Invision Power Board looks like now, its very simular to PHPBB. If the Atari-Age colour scheme and the AA Logo stays on top would be kept the same, Most members probably wouldnt hardly notice much difference.
Expect that the text/font might look slightly smaller and different, but it would make up for extra options and more details about the forum statics.

We might have to change our Profile Perferences again ill believe.

I guess we will all probably have to update our bookmarks, as this link - http://www.atariage.com/forums/ will soon be read-only.
Will our Post ratings be the same ? you know, like im a Moonsweeper ?
Never been in a IBP forum as yet, but it sounds exciting and more reliable.

That dot that chases you in Yars Revenge, got to me enough.

Yes always an excellent classic Gateway to Asphai is, as I played the C64 Version (Never knew there was a Atari 400 and Colecovision version until I started emulation).
It was like an introduction to Role-Playing games, and lead to path for so many more.
Only thing that ended up bugging was that there was no end to it, but hundreds off dungeons to explore though, every time you played it, it was a different game.

And there was 16Bit version of the XL planned with 65816 and a chipset of AGNUS, DAPHNE and PORTIA...
Another great idea at the time. But obviously they tried to make their debut come out long after the Atari ST and Amiga making them unsuccessful, as those 2 machine became popular even that they were not compatible with their 8bit sisters.

-
Oh, that's what the C64DX (aka the C65) was for... =-)I forgot all about the unsuccessful C65.
Probably a good idea at the time, I heard it was even better than the Amiga. (Graphic modes)
But maybe it was just too expensive.
-
But it did come to the Atari ST 16bits though, a pity thought the 8bit and 16bit Ataris werent compatible with each other.
That's one thing i always moaned about; why didn't the 16bit Ataris just use an enhanced version of the 8bit graphics architecture - it's worked out far better than the way the ST is arranged...!
Same thing I moaned about that the Commodore Amiga wasnt compatible with the Commodore 64, like an 16bit enchanced version of the C64.

-
ummm?.. That would be great for a good section on the good old games for the Atari 8bit computers.
Just wondering, dont know much about the Atari 5200, but is the 5200 just something like a modifed ROM of the Atari 400/800's minus the keyboard ?

Oh, well some interesting things I just now know, Sauron mentioned theres even a 3rd Amiga emulator called Amiga Forever, sucks or not, I gonna have to check this out.
And this WinUAE Light (what Belgarath says). I didnt know it existed. Ive have to check that one too.
The normal WinUAE is a bit slow for my 266mhz PC, and WinFellow runs a lot of software that WinUAE crashes or cant handle and something vice-versa.
As with WinUAE, to boot up a disk image, you have to select your best saved configuatation and then insert your disk and off it goes.
(Bit of a annoyance if you want to use this in Front-Ends.
But WinFellow, all I had to do was just insert my disk image and off it goes.
Pity about WinFellow, oh well. Love live WinFellow..

-
For Amiga emulation I use WinFellow and WinUAE, and like if a game doesnt work on WinFellow, U WinUAE or vice-versa.
As normal I always search for updates every week, because I want to get the best Emulation.
Althought I like WinFellow a bit more because its faster and more user-friendly, im just curious if the WinFellow project has stopped because I cant find WinFellow's home page and been unable to find an update for over a year now.
So question is, is Winfellow dead ?
my version is alpha v0.4.3 build 1 i believe.
No other better version avaible ?

Frankenstein's Monster has an ending and even an ending sequence! (woo!)Don't know why.. but I keep liking that game!
Rasty.-
Hardly, I never knew that till now after I just finished it using Stella with Save States.
But now I know, but I wont mention any spoilers here.

-
I have veryfond memories of Frankenstein (well Frankenstein's Monster is what its really called).
The graphics were nice and colorful and the sound was great too.
Its certainly the best single-screen platform game ive ever played.
Unlike Donkey Kong where if something hits you, you automatically lose a life.

C16 GNG was horrific....It looked terrible and moved worse....
Character blocky movement, nasty

sTeVE
True! But ive only recently discovered GNG for the C16 on emulators.
But at least GNG did come to C16, no matter how bad it is/was.
A passable Double Dragon came to Atari 2600 but not Atari 8bit computers.
But it did come to the Atari ST 16bits though, a pity thought the 8bit and 16bit Ataris werent compatible with each other.

hehe the same way I've finished many a classic game
I never had a prayer of figuring out pitfall (among others) without the map LOLI like to laid all thoose mysterious old classics games to rest and finish em, and clear my mind using emulation Save States.
Those games that kept you up all night, skipped school because of, spraining your wrists and breaking joysticks.

Sharky -- G&G was started on the XL (I know I was doing it), but whilst we got geat background look and feel, much more like the arcade than the C64 version (grey gravestones rather than blue on level one etc), we had little luck with the sprites.
Still a shame, althought surely there could of been a work around in some way, and who needed sprites for GNG
. Althought Sprites are much better, but then again, Commodore 16 produced a passable GNG without the use of Sprites it looks has I believe the C16 had no hardware sprites.

I recently completedJumpman Junior
How long did it take for you to beat JMJr.

Almost 20 Years, but i finished it with an emulator using Save States.
-
Popeye, Mercenary, Boulderdash, and Ghostbusters were excellent conversions I must say.
Ill prefer to play those 4 games on Atari 8bits than any other system.

-
Ghost'n'Goblins and Maniac Mansion were never ported to the Atari 8bit.

-
But a classic game althougher but I wish it had more levels.Ha! Back in my childhood 30 levels looked like an incredibly huge amount to me!
But I guess we're not so easily impressed anymore

Anyway now you can add your own levels!
Regards,
Rasty.-
Jumpman or Jumpman junior didnt have 30 levels as I rememeber. I cant rememeber exactly but something like 15 or so, I believe I recall Jumpman Junior had a few more levels than Jumpman.
But put them both together, well yes you could say 30 levels.
(This is according to the c64 version, im yet to play the Atari 800 version as yet).
-
So I guess this is what Screen-Flipping means, as I never played 2 player games on Cocktails tables ever before and I use to think, Poor player 2, they will have to play the game upsidedown.
-
I recently completed the C64's versions of Jumpman.
Jumpman and Jumpman Junior
No without the help of Saving States though
But a classic game althougher but I wish it had more levels.

Hmm if the Atari 2600 console has no wood on it what-so-ever, wonder why some people perfer to it as "2600 4-switch woodgrain" like here http://atari.room34.com/systems.phtmlNo wonder why this all began to confuse me.

Because while it has no wood, it DOES have a woodgrain look.
I guess thats why then, Althought I wish it was REAL wood, maybe someday, something might replace Plastic, I wouldnt miss plastic.

Strangely enough, December 1994, I sold my owning remaining computer.. Amiga 500 as I believe it was almost dead and the future of gaming would point to the consoles. (Probably to stop Piratey theft).
I always liked computers not consoles, so I stopped gaming.computing whatsoever for about 3 or so years
Until I discovered the magic of PCs, I finally brought my first early in 1997.
(only had a 40MB HD Back then
)
