  1. The xl/xe version of dark chambers is way better than either 2600/7800 versions, better scrolling and sound, but it is still a good blast on the 7800!
  2. I think it is all personal raelly, judging by the responses so far. for me i have come to realise that underneath the glamour and technical shine of the next gen gaming systems, there is for me something missing. I love being able to put a game on for 20 minutes and challenge myself to beat old scores etc,you don't need to spend hours developing the storyline. The old stuff is simple but beautiful! it does bring back good memories for me, but i also realise that it is just pure and simple fun.
  3. Hi does anyone know if the return of mario bros hack cart in the store run on pal systems? it does not say anything in the description, also wondering about the berzerk hack, does that work on pal? if anyone knows , could they let me know? many thanks Em
  4. kung fu master is hard to get, but does come up on ebay. do you need pal or ntsc?
  5. i reckon it could be done, there are plenty of people with the talents needed, but maybe not the time
  6. will make sure everyone who is interested knows how i get on! bit of a minefieldbut i have at least tracked the main guy down!
  7. For anyone actually interested in seeing if we can find this code in the uk, i am making progress!!!!!!!! i am waiting for a certain "programmer" to get back to me! it is hard work tracking these people down. will keep groovy, shawn snr and drac informed if it takes me anywhere. fingers crossed
  8. watching a couple at the moment, but would rather get one from someone who knows they are working rather than untested or worked last time it was used 25 years ago!
  9. Also, "sarcasm" apparently doesn't mean what you think it means. i think it does
  10. The word you're probably fumbling for here is "palatable". possibly, but don't really need a lesson in grammar, come here for fun, not for sarcasm. Also for a venture to be a success, it needs to be plausible, not palatable.

  12. always willing to help, if needed. I have the same problem form the usa sometimes.
  13. thankyou, there seems to be plenty of mod boards available on ebay and i can get someone to do it for me.
  14. wouldn't it be great to get hold of them and they say "oh yeah, it's been hanging around in my attic for years"! i wonder how they could be tracked down?
  15. As i reach my 40th birthday, i am wondering if vintage gaming is pure nostalgia and a desire to return to childhood/youth , or is it more than that? I think that my generation particularly in England were very lucky, we were on the brink of the computing/gaming horizon with so many formats to choose from, exciting developments and actually seeing the progress of technology and programming first hand. we could see Atari computers and consoles, bbc micro, acorn electron, spectrum 48/128k, amstrad cpc, oric, dragon, phillips, msx, intellivision, colecovision, tandy, commodore. The list seemed endless! we really had options then! The future of gaming was ahead of us and we were there at it's inception. So i do not think it just nostalgia, it was a special time and the games and consoles/computers we still play from that time are a testament to the golden era of gaming! I have always embraced the new consoles and technology but at the same time always love the oldies, with regards to the new gen consoles , were they not what we all dreamed of? when i hear people saying they are not as good etc, i like to remind them of the fact that had it been available in our youth , we would have had multiple orgasms! Those were the days of arcade conversions, when it really meant something to be able to play gauntlet etc on a 64k machine, when the ideas for games were flowing from everywhere, so i do feel nostalgic but also have a real love of the efforts and time that went into the old games. Not that there were not plenty of bad ones, just like today! just wanted to see how others feel about this touching and often sentimental (to me) subject. If i were to sum it up, it was and still is a joy to play classic games and machines, and i am not just going through a midlife crisis, although my 14 year old son thinks differently! I have however got my youngest into miner 2049er on the 800xl! There is hope yet to bring the good old days to the youth of today.
  16. i wonder if there is a prototype somewhere? i doubt that us gold exist anymore, but maybe the programmers involved have it knocking around somewhere? Games like this would have made the 7800 far more popular, rather than the standard atari arcade titles ( already done on two of our older consoles!), Gauntlet, r-type,ghosts n goblins, bombjack etc would have made it plausible to a much wider audience.
  17. many thanks for your information, it is greatly appreciated! i did not realise there were later models, i assumed it was just the one (1980) model?
  18. Hi all i am in the uk and looking at starting an intellivision collection! some great homebrews on the scene, being my main incentive. does anyone in the uk here have a spare console that they want to part with? i also would like input on what i should pay and are there any options regarding controllers as they seem to be the main problem with the console. many thanks
  19. Hi i am based in the uk, but am looking for a working 5200 console and also possibly a ti-99 computer. my only need is that they must be working. condition not vital as i just want them to try out some different versions of games! i am a player not a collector as such and am not looking for items that serious collectors want! price is obviously important, but if anyone has a spare that they don't use please feel free to pm me with a price. really needs to come from within the uk or europe due to shipping costs, but if anyone over the pond has a 5200 that can be sent via economy courier, then that would be great too. many thanks
  20. I Actually think it would be very easy (surely these days) to make a multi format computer? one that could emulate most popular and less popular systems to run rom files etc and also to be able to program with? there must be a genius out there that could come up with the hardware cheaply enough that would fit into a nice keyboard style case! have always wanted a multi format computer that combines emulation and programming!
  21. The 5200 doesn't use the same power adapter as the 2600 so you'll need to find a suitable replacement for it or use a mains voltage converter. again, thankyou! i have a stepdown convertor, so as long as use that with 5200 power supply it will be fine. time to start looking for one!
  22. thanks! does the cartridge hold only one game or can you add more?
  23. is this easy to do? i am not a genius when it comes to computers?
  24. Hi Does anyone know where i can get a cartridge version of the xl/xe space harrier game? atari-sales and service has gone and that was the only place i was aware of that stocked it??? can anyone help?
