  1. Hi all, You all know that Brazilian Atari 2600 are not exactly valuable but *boxed* Brazilian games are hard to find even down here. And most of the time the boxes are in a really bad shape. This is part of our gaming history. So... I decided to restore a beat-up "Jawbreaker" box from CCE. Box was crushed. It had no internal structure whatsoever - cart and manual were just floating inside a badly crushed box. First step: Used cardboad to recreate the upper corner. See that there´s a little appendix for the flap - it was almost falling apart With a brush, I´ve applied a decent amount of glue on it. Then I put it in place.
  2. Just got a few Vectrex carts from them, had no idea they are the same guys. :-) Thank you. Managed to contact them.
  3. Thanks. Does anyone knows his username on eBay?
  4. Hope I´m not asking silly questions. :-) Is there anything going on with atari2600.com? I´ve placed an order over there two weeks ago and it is still "pending shipment". They won´t reply my emails. Is this usual behavior? Should I start worrying? Should I open a dispute on Paypal? Thank you all.
  5. Amazing thread. Blew me away. Thank you all for sharing your knowledge and personal collections.
  6. Quick update: I haven´t received my sample pack yet - the pains on being all the way down south. BUT - I´ve found an interesting option down here. It is not as good as a classic box protector as it is a two-piece set, box and cover. But the measures are excellent. https://www.acetplace.com.br/Produto-Detalhe.asp?Produto=P-18&idProduto=1977 (just click the pictures) The protector i´m using is 149 x 113 x 25 milimeters (H x W x D). The one I´ve linked is 160 x 110 x 25. What I´ve assumed to be ideal is 145 x 107 x 24 milimeters (H x W x D). Sounds like a suitable option. Since they are cheap (30 BRL, grossly 8 USD for 25 units) I think I´ll order a 25-pack for testing. I´ll let you know.
  7. So... I used to be an avid collector in the late 90´s - early 2000´s. But somehow I got married (beats me! ) and got a baby girl, so for some 10 years my collection was pretty much abandoned. Yeah, some of you knows that feeling. Anyway... My collection was all over the place. Some things at my mom´s, others at my dad´s, a bunch at my mother-in-law´s, a few with me. Some day I´ve stumbled upon my Vectrex, tucked in a wardrobe. And then I made the stupid decision to turn it on again. And I was bitten once more. Things are still spread all over but now I´m trying to make sense out of it. I´ve been slowing grouping them by platform and sorting it all out. And I´ve been buying again, trying to fill the blanks. So... Yesterday I took the time to open my Atari 2600 CIB games´ boxes and grouped the kids for a family reunion photo. The loose carts are in two boxes at my dad´s. There´s probably 200 of them. I must find them eventually. But that sight made me remember how great it is collecting the classics.
  8. Yeah, unfortunately that´s very unlikely. The X68000 community outside Japan is great in spirit but minuscle in size. There is probably half a dozenf guys working on tech documentation translation (specially at the NFGGames forum) but it´s been baby steps on manuals and such. I don´t think there is anyone working on games.
  9. Hi there, The onboard sound is really lame, specially due to internal, low-quality speakers. But have you ever seen this baby with MIDI? :-) I do owe a MIDI board and a Roland SC-55. It is amazing. Daimakaimura is crying material. Gradius is amazing. Akumajou Dracula is incredible! The Gradius games are great. Datana Twinbee is really fun and a fast-paced shooter. Atomic Robo-kid is very nice too. Undeadline looks and plays really fine but it´s though as nails.
  10. Hi, Does any of you fine gentlemen collect Sharp´s X68000? Amazing graphics, slick design, great audio, arcade-perfect ports. Sexy little machine. :-) I currently own two of them: - An Expert with 6mb, who needs preventive maintenance and an internal CF adapter (already bough it, must install the little fellow); - A boxed XVI with 12mb, internal AztecMonster with 2gb CF and a SACOM MIDI board. Also I do own an original Sharp monitor who support all the (bizarre) video frequencies and resolution. I had a little obsession for it some four to five years ago and managed to grab some 120+ original, boxed games. Most of the games in my wishlist and then a lot of RPG, adventures and Hentai to "complete the collection". Then I´ve discovered that on the TOSEC alone there´s almost 650 commercial games listed so I gave up hoarding for it. Anyway. Amazing computer. Any other fellow fans out there? Tell us what you got!
  11. A MSX. :-) Specifically a Hotbit HB-8000, a licensed MSX 1.0 machine made by Sharp. I was 8 years old. Christmas 1984. Since Brazil in the 80s was a funny mess, our Sharp was NOT the same japanese giant Sharp the rest of the world knows - anyone could register any brand back then so a wealthy family in São Paulo just registered "Sharp" and started making things . (They settled things later and went legit. Then, they bankrupted) Funny thing is, my dad never gave me a driver (way too expensive) or a tape recorder. So, for about 6 months all I did was type in BASIC listings, play a little and then turn off the computer - only to rinse and repeat in the following day. (Yes, this is where most of my scars came from. ) 6 months later I got a cassete player. About a year after that, a floppy drive. Great times. Great, GREAT machine. Pity it hadn´t succeeded in USA.
  12. Hi there! I´m #55 in your list. So that means I´ll get a box to my cart? Cool. :-) Is there any difference between my (kind of) early cart and the ones you are making now? Thank you in advance.
  13. Hello, Does anyone have some spare Channel F clone carts for sale or trade? :-) I´d love to get some Luxor or Adman grandstand. I do have a few spare Saba, among others. TY
  14. I´ve imported two of them down here to Brazil. They both arrived just fine after a 10000 mile trip. It´s a sturdy beast. :-)
  15. Two on my list. But I know for a fact I´ll never get any of them: - Entex Adventurevision - APF Imagination Machine (Already got a MP-1000) OK, we all know Adventurevision are super expensive (three thousand dollars?). But the last two Imagination Machine that surfaced on eBay went for like a thousand a piece. Wow.
  16. This one is MIND BLOWING for anyone familiar with MSX limitations.
  17. Hello, I´m trying to list all the places you can still buy phisical versions of Vectrex games. Is there any other seller / distributer to add to the list? Thanks! Packrat Videogames: http://www.packratvg.com/vechbrews.html Good Deal Games: http://www.gooddealgames.com/inventory/Vectrex.html Madtronix: http://www.madtronix.com/en/order.html Binary Star Software: http://www.binarystarsoftware.com/?cat=3 Revival Studios: http://www.revival-studios.com/vectrex.php Fury: http://www.furyunlimited.com/_sgg/m1_1.htm Luchs Shop: http://www.luchs-soft.de/shop/ The Raven´s Retro: http://vectrex.playntradeonline.com/shop.html
  18. Hello KidQuaalude, Sorry if i´m asking repeated questions: I´ve already subscribed to your newsletter. Is this the only way to buy your games? You do the announcement and when they sold out that´s it? I couldn´t find a "order" page so this is why i´m asking. :-)
  19. Is there any left? I'm interested! Please let me know.
  20. Just to let you guys know: I´ve contacted five different box protectors sellers. None of them have a specific one for Channel F. There´s this guy who suggested me some alternatives. I´ve bough three different sizes from him. Let´s see how it goes.
  21. Well... Not if you are a sick puppy like me. I am trying to get a few complete clone sets. Working my way on Saba right now, Nordmende will be next. Let´s see. :-/
  22. So... This is the one I´m using. As you can see it´s a decent fit but it could be a little smaller. As any Channel F collector might guess it works pretty well for both boxed and loose carts. This one is 149 x 113 x 25 milimeters (H x W x D). I think the ideal / minimum size is about 145 x 107 x 24 milimeters (H x W x D). I am contacting two different manufacturers. Let´s see how it goes. I´ll let you know.
