  1. Is it just me, or does the IBM PC 5150 look like a constipated old man?

I don't understand the comparison: I don't know too many constipated old men who look like beige boxes with dual floppy drive bays and silver name tags. The IBM PC is actually a pretty elegant design, especially with its original monitor and keyboard.

I didn't mean it literally has a head, body, feet, fingers, heart, liver, etc. . I meant the contours of it give it a metaphorical "Constipated" look.

well, consider who it was marketed towards...

  2. I'm viewing AA from a horse.

  3. M/C Auctions As mentioned before, my buddy and I have been picking up, repairing, and selling systems, and we've just started to list. We've already got some interesting stuff, and there is plenty more on the way! Mattel Electronics Intellivoice Voice Synthesis Module eBay Auction -- Item Number: 160605597117 Sears Tele-Games Woody 4-Switch With Games eBay Auction -- Item Number: 160605561681 I still have a Commodore 64 we are futzing with, two C64 cartridges, several 2600 games, and Intellivision, another Intellivoice, and tons and tons of loose carts to go up. These should be up within a couple days, and we haven't even dipped into the rest of our stock we've yet to repair. Hundreds more to come.
  4. -Remove this. This is in the wrong area.-
  5. This is actually, a very, very nice find. Good job! That a/c adapter is not gone, just shove it back in the box, super glue it, and plug it in. Nothing to lose, but everything to gain.
  6. Just got a nice score on Craigslist: A C64 with a Commodore 1541 disk drive and a Tape Deck, with a radio cartridge, and tons of BASIC books for a cool $30.

Nice find. The radio cartridge some packet something? I remember my dad running some packet program FOREVER on his c64.

  7. Probably +$700 dollars. Not really the purchases I've made here, but how this site got me hooked on collecting four years ago.
  8. Hate to break it to you, but that is a 128, not a 64.
  9. To put it quite frank, he has the money. Despite the fact I make more then him, I have many more expenses then he does(Family, food, etc.), so he usually has triple what I have in spending money. We have also decided to split joint venture projects fifty-fifty, that was established from the start. Also, thanks for the ideas. I'll try presenting an Apple IIe I have my eye on tomorrow. If not, I'm just going to buy it myself and resell it.
  10. I am sick and tired of auctions like this. eBay Auction -- Item Number: 300563581650 All for a nifty $750.00! I bought one of these, in box, with four controllers and 50 games for 5 dollars at a flea market. For more laughs: eBay Auction -- Item Number: 320710620084 It frustrates me to no end that people DON'T research their items before selling. It would take a measly five minutes of looking on AA to find the value of a 4 switch telegames, a 6 switch VCS, and the value of Donkey Kong**. Even when you put something for sale, it gives you a tool where it compares all the prices of an object with the same name, and gives you an average. It's THAT simple. If you don't, it only makes a horrible time for us collectors, and a horrible time for the seller. Staffen's public message: Research your #$^# items before selling them. **: I've seen way too many white Donkey Kongs for $500.
  11. Don't know if it is too late, but PM sent.
  12. This is an odd question, but I need a computer I can easily buy and resell. Why? Allow me to explain. About a month ago, I began a computer/video-game restoration business. I would buy up vintage computers and video games from local flea markets ad thrift stores, clean them up, and sell them on Ebay. All was going well, until my best friend caught wind of my idea. With his small, growing knowledge of classic video games, he asked(More like demanded) to partner with me, but I allowed it. We picked up a few video game systems off Ebay, and are in the final stages of restoration. However, he is only aimed at video games. No matter what I say, he is convinced there is no vintage computer market, and will not chip in any money in the purchase of one. I've tried convincing him to buy a Vic-20, Ti-99/4a, and a PET, but he has "Never heard of these" and doesn't want to buy them. Basically, to reclaim my business and manhood, I need a cheap, easy computer I can buy and resell to prove we can make money off them. I was thinking the Sinclair 1000 or a Commodore 64, but they usually sell at un-flippable prices on Ebay. Also, the local flea markets have run dry, with nothing really left besides destroyed IBM's. Any ideas?
  13. I highly doubt he is still hanging around here, but I've been dying to know this. What are your feelings on Jack Tramiel? Is there any kind of rivalry between you and him?
  14. What is your honest opinion on Nolan Bushnell?
  15. Why in the name of all things logical would you want to do this? Actually, I enjoy all sorts of games on my Mac Classic II. I don't know of any others capability, but I've had quite a fun time with mine.
  16. Welcome to the wonderful world of cheap department store made video games! Think of it like this: You can buy Shop-Rite brand bananas, or Acme brand bananas. Both will most likely taste the same, but are sold in two different locations. It's the same with second generation video games(The time between Pong and the NES). The company would make the game system, and then they would give it to a store to sell as their own.(E.g. Sears Video Arcade(Atari), Sears Super Video Arcade(Intellivision), Tandyvision(Radio Shack brand Intellivision). All kinds of strange, neat stuff came out of that backwards corporate method. I would say the 4 switch is the one you'd want to play. It is in my opinion, much easier to lug around and play. Also, tons of people think they are "better" or more "rare" then normal Ataris, so they are much easier to flip.
  17. Too busy with work to go. Sounds like it was great....... ................
  18. I actually like these auctions. It deters other bidders quite well, allowing me to splurge on supplies to fix it and restore it. However, insanely high shipping prices= No good.

  20. Even if they tried, it'd be useless. A gun is registered to a person with it's own serial number on the gun. When the cops find a suspicious gun, they check the serial number. If it matches up to another person, it's obviously stolen, or the guy has some crazy excuse. However, video games have nothing of the like. There is nothing distinguishing this from this. So this whole policy is useless, because they have no way to tell if a game was at one point stolen.
  21. After much experimenting, I've found that the problem lies within the VHF cable, not the FR modulator. I can move the cable around, changing the static noise and quality of the picture. I plan to fix this by replacing the cable altogether, hopefully, skipping over this problem.
  22. Flea markets and thrift stores: They have become our only hope. On a serious note, I agree. This is pretty stupid. Are police afraid there is some Video Game Mafia, where they secretly crappy Xbox games? And as previously stated, video games don't have serial numbers, so it's not like they could identify a stolen one.
