Need some advice... My Batman game was working fine and then, while in attract mode, the screen turned to bright yellow and the sound stopped. I turned it off and on and still got the yellow screen and no sound. I tried starting it in self test mode but then I get a totally different screen, all colors in block patterns, also, no sound or response from any input. I didn't have time to work on it last night so I just shut it off. Today when I powered it back on, it worked fine, for a few minutes, then back to the yellow screen. Just for kicks, I plugged in another PCB, to see if it was a power problem, but the other game works fine. Any suggestions? Thanks,

I'm hoping someone can help me with this. I found a replacement amp chip for my ATARI TETRIS PCB, however, I need help figuring out what pins go where? there are more holes than pins. Could someone give me a pinout so I don't blow the amp? Even a picture would be helpful, I'll take anything at this point...
Thanks...

Started off as a QA tester in Manufacturing, then moved into the main office as the Office Services Coordinator for several years. At one point I accepted a new position in Engineering as the Game Design Coordinator. 2 years later, due to cut-backs, that position was eliminated and they asked me to move back to Office Services but this time as the Administrator. That's where I stayed until I left in 97. What's the URL for the Owen Rubin's site?

This may have already been posted so if it has, sorry. For any true ATARI Games fans and/or past employees, you might want to check this out. I got mine yesterday and it is really nice... The guy responsible for this was, like me, an ATARI Games employee.

I have an ATARI Tetris board that needed a Amplifier. I found an Amp but there are more holes than pins. Can someone please look at a working on and tell me what pins go where? I would really appreciate it.
Thanks...

Yes, there are about 8 small holes between the larger holes for the heat sink. The holes are empty so it looks like it was removed. I will check on Rec.games and also my local electronics store. Maybe I will get lucky now that I know that it is an amp that I am looking for.
Thanks very much for your help.

Thanks for the response. I must be missing both parts, I thought it was all 1 part. The only thing on the board is 2 empty holes... Any idea where I could get a replacement?
Thanks.

So, did you get it working yet?

Can someone please take a look at this image and tell me what this part is? Also, if someone could tell me how I could acquire one, that would be great. I am missing this part on my board and I think that is why I have no sound. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks...

I picked this up from another group, this person is having a similar problem with there RAGE game.
"Try unplugging the daughter boards (audio and ROM) and cleaning the pins
with rubbing alcohol. Maybe there is a weak connection. If that doesn't
work, carefully remove *all* the suspect ROMs (related to the character
objects) and clean the legs with rubbing alcohol and reinsert them. Make
SURE you insert them the right way and, if the sockets are longer than the
chip (more socket holes than chip pins), make sure you place the chip on the
correct end of the socket. Don't pull all the chips at once, just one at a
time, so you don't forget placement/position. Use the others as reference."
Good Luck.

Did you have any luck getting your Primal RAGE to work?

Could very well be different, like I said mine is a pre production model, a lot of things change prior to final release and production. It still sounds like a power issue as opposed to bad ROM's/EPROM'S. I'll check mine and let you know if I think of anything else.

I can't remember off hand if mine uses the spare output or not, I'll have to check. You might try searching the web for the proper JAMMA connections, you may just be missing a ground. Mine is a Pre-Prod version so it may be different than the actual production version. If I remember correctly, there is a gray ribbon cable that connects the board sets, make sure it is connected correctly and not pinched or broken.

Has the game ever worked? It sounds like a power issue, you might want to re-seat the board sets, make sure your not missing any pins. I have had tests show bad ROM but so far re-seating them has corrected the problems. When I get home I will take a look at my board set and see if I can come up with anymore suggestions.
Good Luck...

I have a TETRIS board that has no sound. I believe it is missing the amplifier but I'm not sure. Does any one know where I can download a schematic for this?
Thanks...

Thanks for the suggestions; I have already looked into ordering the Cap Kit and also a LV2000. The only problem I have is that I wouldn’t think a Cap would keep the monitor from working, just looking right. I don't want to make more work by mucking up the works, so to speak... I would also like to figure out this problem before replacing the LV area, a working monitor would be an ideal place to start. You did mention something about checking the voltage to the monitor, would I check this from the red and black leads coming from the HV cage and going to the monitor neck? If so, what should the voltage be? AC or DC? 150V or 12V? I did check my block fusses in the bottom, they all checked out OK. Since I had posted this, my research is leading me more and more to the transformer in the HV cage. I think it's called the "flyback" but I'm not sure and Bob Roberts doesn’t seem to have one listed for the WG K6100 monitor. Do you know of a way to test these?
Thanks

HELP! I have no video on my TEMPEST game. I turned it on the other day, but no video. Game sounds/play work, as far as I can tell, just no video. Looking into it I found both of the 250V fusses were blown along with 2 of the resistors. I replaced them and also a resistor in the HV cage that looked cooked but still no video. I have checked for bad solder joints and also checked to see if the monitor is charging but I don’t think it is. When I turn the unit off and do a discharge on the monitor, nothing happens, no pop, not even a click. Also, the “Spot Killer” LED is not on. I am going to try and locate a replacement transformer for the HV cage but I’m wondering if there is anything else I should be looking at?
Thanks in advance for the help…

I remember that game, I worked on it. Played it so much during production that when I closed my eyes at night to sleep I could still see it. I especially liked the fact that there were so many employees used as characters in the game, a lot of friends - some of them long since gone now. Those were some great times, hope some day I have another job that I like as much as I did when I worked for ATARI... I should dust off that PCB and plug it in for a while, for old time sakes...
