  1. Just a 1 mega-ohm pot then, what I was planning is making 2 units both with 7800's in them, have one as a dedicated paddle machine the other as a joystick based machine. The joystick is being based on the European 7800 controller, the little flat one, just that I've never ventured inside my paddles and for the most part I can't figure out where I put them?
  2. Hi all, I need to know what part/parts (values, pin-outs etc) are in the atari paddles, reason I ask is that I'm going to build a custom control panel as I'm planning on putting a few of my ataris into cabinets, just for cosmetic effect. Any help would be greatly appreciated...
  3. Well this may not be the best, but it's certainly one I'd love to own despite all the faults it had. FIREFOX, the cockpit version...
  4. Lost your original PM, sent you another one...
  5. Good question, shame no ones fillled in the blanks I'm just curious too, it would be interesting to find out how they where done back in the day...
  6. When I get a cart that wont cooperate I just run my finger over the end of the contacts, works for me...
  7. This only works on the Mega Drive/Genesis version, it simply takes you to the little movie type thing at the end of the game, nothing dramatic, but it's fun to watch...
  8. I've still got Flashback and it still rocks, Conrad what a guy, don't foget if you get annoyed with him just add CYGNUS to the password entry screen, but I bet you know that already
  9. I had quite a few, can't remember to be honest, my mother gave a load of my carts away to other members of the family behind my back, but now I've still got about 70 2600 carts and about 14 7800 carts...
  10. Here's a rough idea for a mod to the jr, this design bypasses the need for a CD4050, because it utilises the one already in the jr, remember mod rules apply if you damage anything don't blame me. VIDEO ------- IN - take a feed before R233 on the Atari 2600 Jr motherboard C1 - 10uF @ 16v C2 - .1n R1 - 1k R2 - 1k R3 - 10 R4 - 75 R5 - 75 T1 - Any genereal purpose buffer transistor like a BC558 AUDIO -------- Take a feed after R209 on the Atari 2600 Jr motherboard NOTES -------- If you're feeling daring, run the two outputs to a scart plug to the corresponding pins of course and join the audio to both the L and R pins, and also run a feed from the power input plug + and send that to the auto switching pin of the scart socket as it needs between 9 and 12 volts, just add a reversed IN4148.
  11. TIA PAL: --------------- LUM0 = 7 LUM1 = 5 LUM3 = 6 CSYN = 2 --------------- COLOR = 9 --------------- AUDIO = 13 --------------- There are variations between the PAL and NTSC chips, I did have a list of both chips and their pinouts, but I can't seem to find it, so the pinouts above are from memory. If you're having trouble getting a strong stable output, it might pay you to have a play around with the resistors in the resistor ladder (presuming you are using that method). Easiest way I've found for just testing values is to solder some board pins to the areas where you have resistors, then just wrap the excess wire on the resistor to the board pins, no soldering, no messing and you can get to a suitable value in a lot less time. And I completely agree with Marc, someone should do a true PAL mod, still why do we all have to be on seperate standards?
  12. Vanilla Coke, launched last week here in the UK, not bad at all, certainly beats the hell out of Lemon Coke, I just hop they come out with a Coke flavoured Coke lol...
  13. I recently renovated a 7800 for a friend, and there where more dead spiders inside it than resistors, loads of cob webs too, but I got it working and looking pretty mint...
  14. In my stock I've got: Atari 2600 (darth vader) Atari 2600 (jnr) Atari 7800 Sega Megadrive I Sega Megadrive II + cd Nintendo NES Nintendo N64 Playstation I Playstation II XBOX Soon to be getting a gamecube, just for Metroid Prime...
  15. @ blehrer any updates for us?
  16. I'm beginning to agree with you Joey, the more I think about it, the more it makes sense...
  17. Just a word of advice, if you convert your 7800 to run off different supplies, just solder some suitable wire onto to actual pins at the back of the original socket, don't take them from underneath the board, the pins are very easily joined together if you solder your wires from there. Then take your feed to a socket that best suits your psu, don't change the original socket, it's just not worth it, cos you never know when you might get hold of an orignal psu, this is probably common knowledge? but I thought I'd just mention it...
  18. Nah, they come on any type of label, just got to look for the "P" on the end label or PAL on the front...
  19. I got it working in the end now she runs off either, Genesis psu, 2600 psu as well as it's own psu, when I get one things should be fine, I hate non standard connectors lol...
  20. After all that the unit turns out to be dead
  21. Cool thanks for that, luckily I have loads of Mega Drive PSU's just doing nothing...
  22. What's the +- on the 7800 power supply pins, I need convert this to a standard atari 2600 socket...
  23. If any units are made, I would hate to see the modern remake made into a potable, when it could be something better, nothing beats crashing out in front of the TV and doing some serious Atari, but that's just my opinion. Imagine being able to just plug and play, built in composite or L/C with audio on phono's, I'll go back to dreaming now
