Do you have a link for the UK machines?
-
Why not keep an eye on the Atari Age store http://www.atariage.com/store/ , there's a case in development from Pixels Past http://www.pixelspast.com/ ...

It's always worth having a trawl around eBay.

Xmas 1980 was when I first got a taste for the ATARI, when I got a woody (not what you think )/heavy sixer/big sexy but out of all the models I still have a special place in my heart for my Darth Vader. I remember getting one for Christmas back in '82, as the original machine I had, had to go, we moved back to the UK and NTSC to PAL converters where non existent. I still have my Darth Vader, it still looks as good today as it did when I first got it, it's my favourite model, it just looks the dogs bollox I'm gonna have to borrow a digital camera and take some snapshots. I love my Darth Vader and I'm not scared to admit it...

Here I am again with another dumb ass question! downloaded GFX and converted a few games from *.bin to *.txt but where on earth do you start, are there any files you guys can point me to, because: 0001 |XX XX| 0002 | XX X | etc. Doesn't mean a great deal to me, and yes I am thick

Hmmm the tabs thing, that may account for all the tabs missing on some of the games I picked up recently... -
Thanks

Is it possible to convert a game that's NTSC into PAL? I would have thought that the machines themselves where either NTSC or PAL, not the games and that they would have been generic and ready to use anywhere. Any pointers would be great, and most of all is it worth it?

I had a similar problem with my heavy sixer and red labels carts, they work fine on my darth vader and my jr. Maybe it's down to a certain production run? -
COOL the word is now spreading around the local fans, like the Robocop sig Any words for the kids Robo? Stay out of trouble...

Pac Man the cartoon had one run only in the UK, but I remember loads about it, Mezmeron was cool, is that the right cartoon? Speaking of 80's toons, anyone remember The Centurions, that was cool, power extreme...

There is a kind of magic with the original joystick, although I have a load all broken I'm now working my way through repairing them and upgrading the parts, I even thought about mass producing some "brand new" joysticks, in the style of the originals but with completely modern components and plastics, cost per unit was scary though.

It would be pretty cool to get something going on in the UK, perhaps Sheffield based as it's pretty central, I wonder if it would be an idea to get something like this off the ground? But like with anything, is there a call for a venue in the UK? hmm i wonder if other UK users have any thoughts on this. The floor is open...

Are there any? the ones I found happened about 2/3 years ago, is anyone planning anything in the UK?

Tron what a movie, did anyone see the South Park version of the MCP? top film, I must go out and get it on DVD today, can't wait for Tron 2.0 to come out on PSX2, http://www.tronkillerapp.com "I think that's the right URL".

It was a good movie really, got to love a film with Robert Forster in it, but I've seen it more times than I've had hot dinners Perhaps far too many times: Are you programmed for speech? are you...nah, that'd make you too human. If there's any justice in the universe, that black hole will be your grave. Ah I see your the old two eight, programmed in Houston. It's a monster alright. I could go on, he he he...

Good thinking, with the model differences, I thought a buffer of some variety would be needed, I was just thinking of trying to achieve the mod with things that are on hand and re-cycling a few components. I'd like to get something up and running, for some reason L&C isn't that well supported in the UK, everything comes with either SCART or the composite video yellow RCA. But looking at the schematic, it just seemed a more affordable way to go forward, but I'd like as much feedback as possible with this idea...

All cool movies, except for the Black Hole, you can see the wires on the robots

Might be time to hit reset...

Oh eck! that was my thirteenth post, unlucky for me maybe

I've been trawling the net and reading up on the AV mods around for the 2600, and I sort of came up with an idea for a mod, to me seems pretty logical, but it might be too easy and therefore not work, but if I put it to you, then you can agree/dissagree, point me in the right direction or just slap me because I'm British and tell me that my idea is a load of arse. Here's the mod idea: after studying the schematics in the archive section. VIDEO For the composite video, would it be worthwhile to take a feed straight off the back of R17 in the RF unit (considering that the RF unit will be dissabled), as the feed is off the Ataris internal 4050 circuit. If needed a unity gain output buffer could be added? Then wiring it up to a yellow RCA socket on the back of the unit. AUDIO Follow the audio from TIA pin 13, then after the .1n capacitor take the main audio feed from there, treat this as left and couple it to a white RCA socket. Between these at some point will be the ability to output main audio to both audio RCA's. For the right audio, basically copy the diagram from TIA pin 13, take a feed from TIA pin 12, then get a 1K resistor get a feed from VCC add it to the feed that's created from TIA pin 12, follow this with a .1n capacitor and then couple it to a red RCA socket. I'm ready for the pain...
