I've been slogging through eBay lately watching eBay auctions, and have noticed that 32X Cart prices seem to be going up. Anyone have any comment on this? CIB Games seem to be creeping north of $50, and loose titles also seem to be climbing. A "Blackthorne" and a couple of "Pitfall:The Mayan Adventure" are dragging the average higher than normal, but it seems surprising to me. I've always considered the 32X to be on the inexpensive side for collecting, and am a little shocked to see the latest spike in prices. I know that the later titles always will be sought after ("Web of Fire" & "Darxide") but "Tempo" and "BC Racers" at $30? Really?

This thread: http://www.atariage....ver-discussion/ shows my experience printing UGC Labels on regular paper using a 300dpi inkjet printer. Not too bad. My 32X Carts with more colors (correctly done with the yellow/orange Sega Stripes) look great.

Finally got my Sega CD up and running! Game suggestions?
LynxVGL replied to DOMnation's topic in Sega Genesis
I didn't throw Snatcher in because of the cost. I have a burned Copy that I like a lot. I'm on a Mac, and burning the ISO files seems more difficult on Macs. Or I'm too cheap to buy a copy of Toast. Snatcher is the only burned game I own. The rest are from my original early/mid 90's collection (my model 2 still works) and occasionally I'll dip into eBay to add to my collection. Did that for Cobra Command & Road Avenger. I like WIng Commander because it is the easiest way for me to relive possibly my favorite original PC game. I'd stay away from Corpse Killer. I have it on 32X, and I think the video down grade to 64 colors only would make it unplayable. -
Finally got my Sega CD up and running! Game suggestions?
LynxVGL replied to DOMnation's topic in Sega Genesis
Yeah, but everyone (with a Sega CD) should play "Sewer Shark" once. Same for "Night Trap." For FMV Games, "Tomcat Alley" isn't horrific. DOMnation, make sure you check out "Silpheed", "Batman Returns" and "Jurassic Park." I'm also a fan of the Core games, "AH3-Thunderstrike," & "Soul Star." And "Sonic CD" of course. "Terminator" is also worth checking out. -
Shadow Squadron is great. One of the things I love about the 32X are the flat shaded poly games. I really love the look of those games. Texture mapping is over-rated (HA!). The clean look of Shadow Squadron, Virtua-Racer, Virtua-Fighter & Star Wars Arcade is great. Part of me wonders if Metal Head has stuck with flat shading and not used texture mapping, would it have had a better frame rate? One can only wonder...

Of all of the ports of ST:SOS that came out in that era, I believe the CV version is the best. Wicked fun if you have a working SAC. Only negative (IMHO) is there is only one sprite used for the Klingon ship. So it doesn't have a rotation. On the "main screen" you are always 3/4 head on with a Klingon Cruiser, even if in your radar you are behind it. Only negative in this great game.

Way better price than what it usually brings on eBay. Snap up a copy if you don't already own it. It was one of the later Atari arcade ports, along with Primal Rage. Of the two, T-Mek is the more rare, and both are more rare than Metal Head.
-
Metal Head is pretty common. T-Mek is the rare one. Was playing Space Harrier tonight and it occurred to me a port of "OutRun" was what the 32X REALLY needed.
-
If you can score Night Trap for the 32X/Sega CD it is a little more playable (IMHO) than the straight Sega CD version. I agree on Metal Head as well. I switch to the anime art for the talking heads though, the digitized faces make me laugh to hard when they talk. Anyone ever notice the LIES on the Metal Head box? I have never seen "bombed out farmland or scorched forests" in the many times I've played the game. (Back cover, bottom left text.) T-Mek is fun if you can track a copy down.

Anyone know of what happened to the ADAM versions of the Temple Trilogy? I see them listed in the unreleased title for the ADAM. Do they exist as a Beta somewhere?
-
Bump. I was just thinking about this since yesterday I purchased a mint, loose, Paper Mario Game Pak. I'm going to need more than 15 though but still don't need anywhere near 100. I got mine from eBay in smaller lots. Usually 10 for $20. Search there first.

Well, on the 2600 you had 4 Star Wars Games (Jedi Arena, Empire Strikes Back, Death Star Battle/Return of the Jedi and Star Wars Arcade) while the Inty only got Empire Strikes Back. And the 2600 got both Star Trek Strategic Operations Simulator AND Stellar Track (the original Star Trek Computer Game) while the Inty got shut out. Unless you count Space Spartans. So I guess the obvious answer would by Star Wars/Atari.

Pac-Man Connect-and-Play from BANDAI (coming in 2012)

Anyone care to chime in on a little more detail about the joystick? I love me some "Bosconian" and if the 8 way is crappy I'll pass. -
Colecovision SLITHER boxes now posted in Marketplace
LynxVGL replied to phattyboombatty's topic in ColecoVision / Adam
Nuts. Now I need a copy of Slither... Wait, now I need a Roller Controller.. My 2 cents, pick up these boxes if you have a loose cart. Phattyboombatty did an EXCELLENT run on DK and Turbo repro boxes awhile back that I added to my collection. They were great. I'm sure these will be of the same fantastic quality. -
Ominitrend's "Universe." Tons of disk swapping, load times, terrible UI. Fantastic premise and concept though.
-
Ozma, I'd start small before you invest totally in the UGC conversion. Pick up a small lot and see if you like the result before you go all the way. I like what it does for my loose carts, but I'm not scanning and redoing all of my CIB collection. Except my 32X collection where the boxes were never in the best shape to begin with, even when new.

Try an Ebay search. That's where I'm getting mine.

Is the Video Game Industry Dying?
LynxVGL replied to HatefulGravey's topic in Modern Console Discussion
It's stuck in the same rut as the film industry. True blockbuster movies now cost more than $200 million to make and have to generate ludicrous levels of box-office to recoup the investment. Game Industry has the same issues. They believe you need massive development teams that cost massive amounts of money to make a AAA game to make massive amounts of money. But the developers don't see the return on the investment anymore, so devs are fleeing to mobile devices, social networking titles, and marketplace titles because they can see a better ROI. The fee to play concept and the move to online only titles will cause problems in the long run (IMHO). With Publishers pulling online servers, the long term viability of those games is iffy at best. The industry isn't dying, it's evolving into a new beast. I think retro gaming may win out over what ever creeps out of the sludge. I'm a late adopter to PS3 and lover the machine. But the PS4, Durango and Wii-U? I have zero interest in those platforms. Especially with the business models that are being touted for them. -
This saddens me to no end. I thought it was pretty close to completion too. Bummer.

What skill level did you play back in the day?
LynxVGL replied to goldenegg's topic in ColecoVision / Adam
I always tended to play on "3" because that was the "arcade difficulty setting." Silly me. -
I'm getting ready to liquidate some EMPTY Genesis & 32X Cart boxes. I switched over to UGC's but I think an original box collector might prefer these. For the 32X it's 14 titles, plus Toy Story & Star Control for the Genesis. What's a fair price? The 32X collection includes T-Mek, Primal Rage among others, but I know those are rare.

Why No Decent Indiana Jones Games?
LynxVGL replied to thegamezmaster's topic in Modern Console Discussion
If you think the SNES Star Wars Games are the best Star Wars games, yeah, maybe. It is the best side scrolling Indy game though. My 2 cents goes with the LucasArts SCUMM titles for Indy. However, "Emperors Tomb" wasn't that bad. It did feel like Indy meets Tomb Raider, which was ok. "Staff of Kings" on the Wii is under rated in my opinion. Plus it has "Fate of Atlantis" as an unlockable. Worth the price right there. -
How many systems do you own?
LynxVGL replied to xDragonWarrior's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Colecovision NES Lynx Genesis Sega CD Sega 32X Playstation 1 Playstation 2 (fat) Playstation 2 (slim) Xbox Gamecube Wii Playstation 3 It wasn't until after my PS2 that I started to go multi-console for current gen. I run 2600 & Inty on Emulation. -
But the real story on this project is the box for a cart that has been looking for a safe home ever since I picked up my Super Action Controllers back in the day, Super Action Baseball. The front cover art is from the Intellivision Major League Baseball, and the rear copy is from original Coleco ad copy for SAB. The UGC uses a Rocky Super Action cover from the CoverProject for layout purposes.

My boxing on my loose carts (1st pass) is done. One or two last updates for those that are interested: Gateway to Apshai: This is my lone Epyx Cart. The Epyx carts seem to be a titch smaller than regular Coleco Brand cases, so the cart is sloppy inside the unmodified UGC (like the Imagic Carts.) This UGC took a 5200 UGC for Gateway from the Coverproject, and retouched to lose the Atari branding, and adding some Colecovision branding.
