  1. I'm in for a loose copy too! EOTB looks great!
  2. I would think the giveaway would be the partial Looping, Space Fury and Blackjack labels on them. That doesn't seem very prototype-ish to me.
  3. I appreciate your points. I really do. Next time I'll refine my search criteria better.
  4. Thanks for the topic bump. When I looked through the forum I missed it. And I did a search with evidently the wrong criteria since it only returned 2600 results.
  5. Woot! Congo Bongo added to my CV collection!

  6. Where is the best list of carts with a rarity guide for Colecovision? The FAQ over at GameFaqs is a little dated. My list of wanted carts is getting smaller, but I want a good idea what the rarity really is before I bid. I recently dove back into my Colecovision and have been picking up a lot of loose carts that I missed on their original release back in the 80's (Galaxians, Gorf, Gateway to Apshai, Miner 2049'er, Star Trek, Tutankham, Frogger and Congo Bongo). I know a couple left on my list are hard to come by (Spy Hunter) and have no real good idea what to do about some titles like Pac Man & Space Invaders Collections from OpCode. Thanks!
  7. Go here: eBay Auction -- Item Number: 140562656910 for a copy of Qberts Qubes & Centipede for Auction. It already passed my buy in. Let's see if it goes as high as that copy of Mario Bros. last week. Check out Youtube to see Qubes in action. I was VERY impressed with the effects.
  8. Where's the "Riddle of the Sphinx" love? Com'on! Two joystick adventure game! Com'on! I admit I love Demon Attack too though.
  9. I second that. First time that Alien appeared when I played Fractalus I dropped my controller! And then the tension from there on out of landing to rescue a pilot and not... knowing... until... the... very... last... moment.... if it was a human or Jaggi. Great 8-bit times.
  10. That's one of the reasons I'm on my Colecovision kick lately. Most of the 80's era 2600/5200/CV/INTV games are great because they are pick up and play. Play for a bit, and move on. Between my family and work, I have what feels like 0 free time. If I'm going to dedicate some quality retro-gaming time, right now I don't want to get stuck in 40+ hour RPG. (even though I love them,) My PS1 & PS2 Collections feature far too many unfinished RPG's. I want to take some time to dedicate to Snatcher for Sega CD. Glad summer is finally here.
  11. I think the Gameboy and the Lynx were outgrowths of where Console Gaming and tech in general was in 1989. The original LCD watch style and LED games were dedicated systems, much like the first console systems were dedicated systems. I think Nintendo & Atari (and later Sega and NEC) saw this as the logical growth of the console market. If a handheld is going to get credit for getting interest up, I would have to say that it was the Gameboy, and not the Lynx. This mainly due to Nintendo's marketing muscle in 89-90 more than anything else.
  12. What's suspicious? The price jump or the 0 transaction history. LOL. I totally agree.
  13. So I've loved my Lynx since I picked it up back in the day. (Summer of 91 I think...) Anyway.. I dug it out the other day to show my son how it was WAY cooler than his DS, and to my shock and surprise my external power supply seems to be dead. Any ideas on getting a replacement? Can I use a generic Radio Shack power supply as long as the voltage and polarity of the plug is okay? When I search eBay I find systems, but never power supplies. Ideas?
  14. Old school gamer from back in the day. Own a Colecovision, NES, Genesis, 32X, PS1, PS2, Xbox, Gamecube, and Wii. Generally play 2600 on emulation, but all other on original hardware. Love the old games where gameplay trumped graphics.

  15. So I recently scored a loose Galaxians. I've read and seen reviews, and was anxiously awaiting its arrival. Wow. I agree, this is the best 2nd Gen Console port of the game. Are the other Atarisoft titles as good? I want to pick up Defender because I've always wondered how it plays with the "cheat" for programming the fast scrolling of the game. When I finally get around to getting a Roller Controller, I want Centipede for it too. So, did Atari keep up the ridiculously good porting for their other titles? I'm not a big Jungle Hunt fan, and I know that one is usually expensive due to rarity. I don't play on an emulator, so finding carts is my preference.
  16. Was this the one with the $900 BIN? That was so ridiculous I never tracked it.
  17. No worries, I'm planning to make another short run soon I'll use the "green" boxes this time Maybe it shouldn't be such a "short" run afterall. Getting back into the Coleco Gaming scene and would LUV this cart.
  18. It started at a regular, low sub $10.00 auction where will it end up when it's done? eBay Auction -- Item Number: 280689090350
  19. I haven't gotten any yet. Hold off before you dump $50 or $60 into this project. Let me do a little more research.
  20. It's my understanding that they fit okay unmodified, but they slop around a little. Snapping the clip makes them fit tight. I think they have to fit pretty good otherwise there wouldn't be a ton of 2600 UGC inserts over at The Cover Project. And there are a TON of them.
  21. This link at thecoverproject... http://www.thecoverproject.net/forums/index.php?topic=3294.0 shows how to modify the clips in a UGC for Atari carts.
  22. The reason I asked for a picture of a ColecoVision cart inserted into a UGC is that I couldn't find one with Google. I thought if you had some UGCs and a ColecoVision cart, you could snap a pic and post it. This is a sample of the CBS Zaxxon release insert for a UGC.
  23. You should change the topic spelling it is UGC not UCG. Something that I am curious about is whether or not there is much interest in generic cases for cart storage and if so, what about an artwork insert? As mentioned in another thread there is a database for storing and downloading these artwork box inserts. However all or most are CBS and not the US releases. Would the members of the ColecoVision community be interested in scanning, resizing and cleaning up the scans so they look nice and building a collection to use with UGCs? I think the lack of inserts greatly reduces interest... on the other hand if a complete or near complete set of artwork inserts was available, or at least being worked on, the interest might be a lot higher. I am not sure if I am all that interested in what is basically a fake case, with fake artwork....however having between 55 and 60 of the original US ColecoVision releases it might be cool to use UGCs with art inserts as fillers until I acquire the real CIB. Also since Turbo, Baseball and Slither don't have boxes a UGC with an art insert would be nice for rounding out a CIB collection. Anybody care to comment and/or interested in working together on an artwork insert collection? They work great for 2600, 7800, INTV, and Sega Carts. I don't know about 5200 Carts. To house NES carts you need to trim off a tab in the UGC. And needless to say CV carts. ;> I have a good collection of original US Boxes, and a good chunk of loose. I plan on using existing online art, and creating new for my missing boxes. High Res Scans of Original Boxes would be great. When done properly, the UGC boxes read like classic plastic Sega Genesis Boxes. I was playing with my 2010 box to get it to scan, but to do it properly I'll have to cut the glue on the bottom, so the box can be flattened for best scanning. I'm torn on this. My boxes all have torn tops, but cutting the bottoms will pretty much zero any value in them. This thought process started with me to do something for my loose original carts, like DK, Turbo and SAC Baseball. I have lost my Imagic boxes (NUTS!) for Moonsweeper and Nova Blast. As listed in my other thread, I've been buying loose CV carts and this is the logical (for me) progression for storing and display. My plan was to do it for my Sega 32X boxes as well, because the Sega Cardboard boxes never were very good (IMHO). Would love scans of: Star Trek Tutankham Gateway to Apshai all the Atarisoft Titles all the Imagic Titles Gorf Frogger and Spy Hunter (I'll get a SPy Hunter eventually.... eventually... LOL)
