Atari 8-bit Star Raiders with Enterprise title screen
LynxVGL replied to chuckwalla's topic in Classic Console Discussion
It's a hack. -
Anyone got the PS1 SCPH-1110 flight stick?
LynxVGL replied to ComputerSpaceFan's topic in Classic Console Discussion
MechWarrior 2 supports it, and I think Descent does too. -
What Genesis game are you playing right now?
LynxVGL replied to MagitekAngel's topic in Sega Genesis
This evening I spent some quality time with "Altered Beast" and "Super Thunder Blade." I remember playing AB on my first Genesis that I split the costs of with my College Room mate. When we graduated, he kept the Genesis and the titles. Slowly adding those "lost" titles back to my collection. Did a chunk of time on "Ghouls & Ghosts" and "Zombies Ate My Neighbors" today as well as far too much time on "Virtua Fighter" for the 32X. Good day to be a Genesis fan. -
I mean the top down stages. The arcade machine goes back and forth from Top Down, to 1st Person.
-
So I guess the Genesis version doesn't have the 2D stages then?

Bing!

Oh, and "Dam Busters." I was hoping for something like Inty's "B-17 Bomber" and we got... well we know what we got instead.

I think the biggest issue with Star Wars is control. Not that it is an on-rails shooter (essentially) but that when you get hit, the game bounces you around so much. One hit in the Death Star Trench or the Star Destroyer and you're pretty much bouncing into walls, and boom, done. I've only beaten this game ONCE in all these years, and that was playing two player. As Star Wars games go, I stand by Star Wars by Atari being the best Arcade game. There are so many decent ports of it as well. I think the comparisons people are making to the X-Wing series is interesting, but remember, the Sega CD was running Wing Commander. Could LucasArts have done a 32X CD X-Wing? Maybe. But I think the story of the Sega CD "Indiana Jones & The Fate of Atlantis" tells you where they really stood on the Sega 16-bit platform.

Congo Bongo: I wanted this game for soooooo long. Finally scored a loose copy and could not believe how broken the controls are. Sad...
-
Thanks for the input guys. I have checked out the YouTube stuff (Especially the 65GamerGuys channel) but the input on the controls and the issue with the Sprites is something that some YouTube videos don't address. Plus I think it's more valuable sometimes to get input from folks who have actually played the titles. I was thinking about HERO but I rarely see it cheap/loose. River Raid and possibly Pitfall 2 are the other ones. I WISH Activision would have ported Star Master to the CV and improved it a little to make it a true competitor to Star Raiders on the 5200 and 8-bit line.
-
My Star Wars was a little rough. The T-Mek was in pretty good shape, and someone PM'd here so it never officially went up on Marketplace. Did sell the whole lot.
-
So I'm on the bubble about picking up some Activison Carts for the CV. I know that Activisions policy back in the day was to NOT radically improve game quality across platforms (unlike Imagic) and am looking for some input on the Quality of the original 2600 Ports. Pitfall looks identical except for some minor cosmetic changes, is this the same for Pitfall 2? River Raid has some improvements, no? I don't have a current emulator to gauge quality so some community input would be nice before I continue my eBay searches. Thanks!

Is that just the cart box or is it also printed on the cart label too?

Games with bugs stopping the game being finished thread
LynxVGL replied to Magic Knight's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
I hate to mention it, but Omnitrend's Universe? I could never get to run correctly without crashing. -
When I had my original Genesis, it was also an "Altered Beast" pack-in, and my original copy of Sonic, was the black, hard case style that I purchased at retail. I really want to "reacquire" that version of Sonic.
-
What's the deal with all of the Sonic games on eBay that have a box that has large NOT FOR RESALE printed on it? Were these pack-in versions of Sonic vs. the straight, first release of Sonic?
-
What's up with that? Can you share some more details? I just sold my lot of 32X boxes on Marketplace (originals.)
-
Wich one of these you would buy as a Complete in Box Release?

Disney puts the hammer to LucasArts :(
LynxVGL replied to onlysublime's topic in Modern Console Discussion
A lot of folks online are berating Disney's decision, but let's be honest. The best LucasArts titles of the past few years weren't even developed inhouse. This isn't that big of a deal. The LucasArts many remember died in the early/mid-nineties. -
I swapped my 32X Carts over to UGC's this year, so I have a BUNCH of 32X boxes laying about. Is there any interest here for me to sell them over on the Markeplace, or should I risk eBay? Thoughts? It a lot of the commons but a few rares as well (Primal Rage & T-Mek).

I'm getting a repeated error 500, attachment skipped when I try to add jpg to some of my posts. They are WAY under the 10 MB limit too. I try the advanced uploader and get the error, and the basic uploader uploads the image and then doesn't attach. Any ideas?
-
Yeah. I know. Some of those unboxing movies are weird to say the least.
-
The bonus of the FOAM INSERT for the cart in the box is also fantastic!

Wow. Just got my copy of "Quest for the Golden Chalice" from Team Pixelboy today. All I can say is, "Wow." First off, the packaging is first rate. Others in the forums told me it would be great, but "Wow." The box is great, the manual is beautiful, and the Golden cart is an extra that made me smile as soon as I opened the box. (Take that Zelda!) Onto the game. I only played one short game of Quest 1 on easy, but I can NOT wait to go back. The Team Pixelboy gang has done a fantastic job honoring 2600 Adventure with this title, as well as a knowing nod to Zelda on the NES. This is my first homebrew title and it has blown my socks off in a brief 10 minutes. "Adventure" was one of my all time favorite 2600 games, and I have fond memories of a sleep over at a friends house when I was a kid, playing Adventure until the sun came up. Team Pixelboy recreated that nostalgia for "Adventure" with this title, and on the Colecovision hardware it really shines. Thanks to Luc & all of Team Pixelboy crew.
