Everyone set to charge online fees (EA, Sony, Ubi, THQ etc)
Albert replied to cimerians's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I can easily see a point in the near future where I simply stop buying new video games. If software publishers want to go down the road of either eliminating used software sales or requiring additional fees in order to play used games you acquire from the original owner, I'm not going to be a party to that greed. I also have never bought any DLC as that's another ploy to milk money out of gamers who are already spending a ridiculous $60 on a single game. Publisher can kiss my ass, as I can find plenty of other pursuits to spend money on. And there are many, many thousands of games for older systems that could keep me entertained for several lifetimes. ..Al -
Hasn't he already filed a claim? They (atariage) will just most likely pay him out in order not to meet, talk, listen to him so he's already won. Kenny old boy vs the world (judgement pending for infinity) Kenny old boy vs Atariage (settled out of court: settlement $1) Atariage vs Phsycological test scores of 1982 (pleaded guility to tampered doc. ref. test scores kenny locked for life) Ken, is that you? ..Al

Amazon has the Halo 3 Limited Edition for only $40, so I may pick that up. Also, I see that Best Buy is giving away a $20 gift card with purchase of Reach, and Amazon is giving a $20 video game credit with purchase of Reach, not bad. ..Al

That picture of the Klax cart is great, may I use that? I need to put together a page that includes examples of cartridges that are NOT appropriate for homebrew recycling. ..Al

If someone doesn't buy the entire lot, I'm interested in the picture and text label Atari carts. ..Al

That's okay, it was still an interesting auction. ..Al

That is interesting, but I'm looking for auctions that haven't ended yet so I can put them up on the front page. ..Al

Anyone want to sell me their copy of Halo 3? ..Al

How much is a "bunch"? Are they primarily Atari carts? ..Al

You're right, I was confusing blocking threads with blocking specific forums. I'm talking about blocking forums. It looks like the author who created this modification is no longer writing and maintaining mods, so I'm not sure the ability to block forums is going to come back either. Apparently he did convert the mod for IP.Board 3.1.x, but it doesn't apparently work with the Sphinx search engine, which we're using here. Since the author is no longer supporting his mods, it's unlikely he's ever going to update the mod again. So, if we want this functionality here, I'd have to write it myself. ..Al

I'm not even sure it's going to work with "View New Content", as the "Block Forums" feature is a third-party modification. I do not yet know if it has been updated to work with the new version of the forum software, since the underlying search system has completely changed from what is running here. I'll look into it. ..Al

I'd also rather take a money order or cashier's check over PayPal. Their fees are significant when you're talking about $2,000. I'm surprised eBay doesn't pick up on the "M. Order" text. But then again, they're not the brightest bunch. ..Al

I'm curious also. I hit the auction only a minute after this thread was started and the BIN was already gone!! ..Al

I do believe it's time for me to finally play the original Portal. Thankfully I can play it now on my Mac Pro as opposed to the Xbox 360 version. ..Al

I wish people would send me those as donor carts! ..Al

I do not have a Nintendo DSi or PSP to test the forum with. There is the "Lo-Fi" forum skin, which you can select at the bottom of the page. Have you tried that? It's a much lighter-weight skin without all the JavaScript, so the forum should run fine with it on just about any device. ..Al

I made some performance tweaks on the server tonight, which should (in theory) speed things up a bit. However, it's always possible that one or more of these changes might cause weirdness somewhere. If you see any errors or oddly rendered pages or anything else out of the ordinary, please let me know. Likewise, if you notice a change in speed (for better or worse), I'd like to hear that as well. Thanks, ..Al

I'm curious what the distribution of these 30,000 games is. ..Al

I found a treasure map to the secret E.T. dumping grounds. ..Al

I've had many, many carts go through my hands over the years and I've seen it all as far as marking carts goes: 1) Many different stickers, on the label, on the sides of carts and on the back. 2) Markings of all types, some with permanent ink, some with grease pens, on the label and on the cart surface. The ones on the plastic are a pain to remove. 3) Engravings on carts, of names (most commonly), social security numbers, and other things (I think I even saw someone's driver license number once). I also see other "features", such as: - Paint flecks on carts. This is damn common. What the heck? - Carts chewed on by animals (I assume dogs, but you never know). - Soda spilled inside carts (this is somewhat common). - Did I mention the bugs? - Carts where someone tried to jam a screwdriver or other object into the dust cover openings. - Many carts have labels that have obviously been wet at some point, these labels never come off cleanly I'm sure I am forgetting some things, but that surely covers the most common afflictions. ..Al

For one thing, it's the wrong type of cartridge and there are two labels: Eli's Ladder Cartridge The Hozer logo is also a dead giveaway. ..Al
